Italian BELLADONNA has issued the following update:

We are thrilled to announce that the new BELLADONNA album will finally be out worldwide on iTunes on the 16th of May!!

Recorded in L.A. with producers Alex Elena (Grammy-nominated for his work with Alice Smith) and Mike Tacci (at the helm for Metallica’s “Black Album”) and produced and mixed by our own Dani Macchi, it is titled “And There Was Light”.

SARKE: Video Footage From ‘Oldarhian’ Release Party

SARKE, the Norwegian band featuring Sarke (real name: Thomas Bergli; KHOLD, TULUS, OLD MAN’S CHILD, SENSA ANIMA) and Nocturno Culto (DARKTHRONE), held a release party for its sophomore album, “Oldarhian”, on April 19 at John Dee in Oslo, Norway with special guest INSIDIOUS DISEASE. “Oldarhian” was released on April 15 via Indie Recordings.

In 2009, Bergli joined forces with Nocturno Culto and Anders Hunstad (EL CACO, AUTOPULVER) on keyboards to release the debut SARKE album called “Vorunah”. It was a mesmerizing journey through dark and soothing soundscapes, musically inspired by the legends like MAYHEM, SLAYER, DARKTHRONE, CELTIC FROST, BLACK SABBATH, CANDLEMASS, DEATH, MOTÖRHEAD and KREATOR. “Vorunah” received great feedback from both press and the fans alike and Sarke thus decided to do live shows. He put together an impressive lineup, featuring Cyrus (SUSPERIA, DIMMU BORGIR) and Steinar Gundersen (SATYRICON, SPIRAL ARCHITECT) on guitars and Asgeir Mickelson (SPIRAL ARCHITECT, ex-BORKNAGAR) on drums. The band played successful shows at festivals like Inferno, Hole In The Sky, Party.San, Brutal Assault and Ragnarok, to name but a few.

On “Oldarhian” SARKE is still inspired by the great rock bands from the ’70s, the death and thrash metal of the ’80s, and the ’90s black metal. The CD was recorded in Oslo at H-10 Productions the old-fashioned way, and continues the formula from the debut album: dark, epic and groovy.

Commented Sarke: “Our music is inspired by the great ’70s rock bands, ’80s speed metal bands and ’90s black metal bands. Put this together with the creative mind of the band and your get pure dark rock music sounding is clear, raw and honest.”

Added Nocturno Culto: “What an album! We can now act like six real rock stars and attention-seeking brats.”

DRACONIAN: New Song Featured On Free NAPALM RECORDS Sampler

Swedish gothic/doom metal band DRACONIAN will release its new album, “A Rose For The Apocalypse”, on June 24 via Napalm Records. The cover artwork was created by Seth Siron Anton (PARADISE LOST, KAMELOT, ROTTING CHRIST, MOONSPELL) and can be seen on left. A limited digipack version of the CD with one bonus song will also be made available.

A new DRACONIAN track, “The Last Hour Of Ancient Sunlight”, is featured on Napalm Records‘ free sampler “Nothing Burns Like Napalm”, which also includes music from ALESTORM, LEAVES’ EYES, KAMPFAR, STREAM OF PASSION and TÝR, among others.

DRACONIAN vocalist Anders Jacobsson previously stated about “A Rose For The Apocalypse”, “Jens Bogren of Fascination Street [studios in Örebro, Sweden] sprinkled his magic over the songs during the production and mixing process and each and every song found its way. We are grateful to have such a committed producer and we can only feel blessed by the experience to once again have made another album reality at Fascination Street.

“The new album is called ‘A Rose For The Apocalypse’ and deals with a vast dilemma we’re all facing as one species; the horrors and contradictions we’ve created in our ‘nature-divorced’ system. The title refers to the collapse of this structure, built by mindless human opinion. It also refers to the necessity of its demise. We are trying to capture the gloom of its realization. I don’t know if we’d want to call this a conceptual album, but most songs certainly deal with the same topic in one way or the other. I’ve reached a point in my life when my eyes remain open.

“To most of you, ‘A Rose For The Apocalypse’ might appear a darker, more threatening album compared to the previous [album], ‘Turning Season Within’. And yes, it is different in several ways, but DRACONIAN remains the same.

“I have often said that our new work resembles a mix between the old and the new DRACONIAN and will unite fans of both preferences. While listening to this album, I feel a lot of history comes together in one place, at least sound-wise.

“Our old friend Olof Göthlin contributes with some of his excellent violin skills on the album. Cover and layout is created by the amazing Seth Siron Anton.

“We sincerely hope we’ve created an album that will make impact on our beloved fans. Thank you for keeping up, sticking by us and maintained your faith in DRACONIAN.”

DEGRADEAD To Release ‘A World Destroyer’ In June

Stockholm, Sweden-based melodic death metallers DEGRADEAD will release their third album, “A World Destroyer”, in North America on June 28 via Metalville Records. The CD was recorded at Peter Tägtgren‘s (HYPOCRISY, PAIN) Abyss studios in Pärlby, outside Ludvika, Sweden, with producer Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY, CENTINEX, WORLD BELOW).

Two songs from the forthcoming CD — “Human Nature” and “Taste Of Destiny” — are available for streaming in the YouTube clips below.

DEGRADEAD‘s sophomore album, “Out Of Body Experience”, entered the national chart in the band’s home country at position No. 48. The CD was released on February 27, 2009 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and March 2, 2009 in the rest of Europe via Dockyard 1 Records. The follow-up to 2008’s “Till Death Do Us Apart” was recorded primarily at Abyss studio in Sweden with Kjellgren. Mixing and mastering took place at Dugout Productions (IN FLAMES, MESHUGGAH, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD) in Uppsala, Sweden.
