After the release of the critically acclaimed all-star concept album Memorial for a Wish, Norwegian melodic metal project Nergard delivers yet another release. This time an EP including only cover songs from bands that Andreas Nergård holds dear.
“U2is my all-time favorite band and I’ve come to love A-haduring the last couple of years. If I was to do cover songs it had to be songs from those bands,” Andreas explains. “I wanted to make this a bit more interesting than just covering other metal bands. I thought it would be very interesting to hear how these songs would sound like if I approached the song arrangements the metal way. Both “Acrobat” and “The Bandstand” are very dark songs and aren’t the most well-known tracks from those two bands. They have the perfect heavy metal foundation; it would be a shame not to cover those tracks.”
Andreas also made the bold decision to cover U2’s biggest hit “With or Without You.” “I’m very satisfied with the version Thomas Løsethand I came up with. The whole idea was to do something Nergardhas never done before; an acoustic track. Up to this point I’ve included walls of guitars and keyboards. It’s great to do something like this for a change.”
All income from this EP will be donated to the children at the cancer ward at St. Olav’s Hospital in Trondheim.
