Welcome To The Machine is a documentary analysis of the functionality in music business. This automatically makes the film a 100% documentary with comedy and drama, as well as 100% semi-investigative. In 12 chapters the filmmakers are trying to answer the question what the everyday work life of a music star looks like.
What do you have to consider when starting a band? What is a manager actually doing? How do music media, band contests and other promotion strategies work? But most of all: Is there a formula for success? The film gives a clear answer to that, although that is to say that there are as many formulas for success as there are artists/bands. This is clearly shown in all the interviews, which have been taken with national and international stars during the production of Welcome To The Machine.
Interviews with artists: AMORPHIS, BUCKCHERRY, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, DANKO JONES, DISTURBED, HALESTORM, HELLOWEEN, LACUNA COIL, LORDI, MEGADETH, NAZARETH, PAPA ROACH, PARADISE LOST, URIAH HEEP.

Papa Roach is an American rock band from Vacaville, California. Their first major-label release was the triple-platinum album Infest (2000). The group’s success continued with their gold album Lovehatetragedy (2002), their platinum album Getting Away with Murder (2004), The Paramour Sessions (2006), and Metamorphosis (2009). The band’s seventh album, Time for Annihilation, was released on August 31, 2010. Papa Roach has sold more than 18 million album copies worldwide, and are known for their hits “Last Resort”, “Between Angels And Insects”, “She Loves Me Not”, “…To Be Loved”, “Scars”, “Forever”, and “Hollywood Whore”. Now in 2012 they are going to release The Connection on the 2nd October on the Eleven Seven Music Label
The first song on the album is Engage is an instrumental that lasts about 53 seconds then it goes straight into the second song on the album which is Still Swingin (James Michael Mix) starts off with a high tempo riff with the vocals coming in soon after the intro. The vocals are high tempo but clean & very typical Papa Roach, I don’t normally like remixes but this is well done but still not sure of the stuttering lyrics halfway through the song but otherwise it rocks. The third and fourth songs are Where Did The Angels Go and Silence Is The Enemy the songs are just what Papa Roach should be bringing out high tempo full of cracking vocals, good guitar riffs and pounding drums. So far Where Did The Angels Go is my favourite on the album. The fifth song on the album is Before I Die starts off with some simple keyboards with the vocals coming in along side them then the guitar come in. The vocals are clean and with purpose just what you would expect, this song is one of the slower songs on the album but it has some really good keyboarding and guitar work. The next two songs on the album are Wish You Never Met Me and Give Me Back My Life these songs are full of good strong lyrics good guitar riffs and a bit of lead, the drumming is done to perfection and bass lines keep the rhythm going perfectly. The eighth song on the album is Breathe You In starts off with a good intro riff with the vocals coming in over them the vocals are again done at a high tempo but clean and precise the guitar work is superb. The changes in tempo throughout the song have been sorted perfectly and they fit the song well. The next two songs on the album are Leader Of The Broken Hearts and Not That Beautiful the first out of the two starts with all I can say is a pop style keyboards. But that all changes into a style that I can only compare to 30 Seconds to Mars’Kings and Queens song. It is not as bad as it sounds the band is experimenting with different styles and this song really goes well with the album. Not That Beautiful goes straight back into the style that Papa Roach are famous for hard hitting music with some great guitar riffs, bass lines, pounding drums and quality vocals. The eleventh song on the album is Walking Dead it starts off again with a bit of keyboard the a good guitar riff then the vocals come in clean and perfectly done. The riffs in this song are really well executed as are the drums and bass lines making this just brilliant. The twelfth song is Won’t Let Up starts off with some keyboards then the vocals come in a rapping style which then goes back into the style we know and love. The song has some really good riffs then in the middle of the song the vocals go back to the rapping style in which really goes well with song and the album. The thirteenth and last song on the album is As Far As I Remember starts off again with some keyboards then the vocals come in clean but slowly. The song is played at a slower tempo than all the songs on the album but it still has all the same great style that the band are renowned for. There are more keyboards in this song which gives it a different edge but it is thought out really well and it doe’s go well with the album.
Overall The Connection is a truly great album by Papa Roach it is full of great riffs, pounding drums, good bass lines and quality vocals. You get a few surprises in the album but it all goes so well that I did not care. It is one of the better albums that they have brought out over the years. My favourite song on the album had to be Where Did The Angels Go this song could of fitted very well on the Infest album of (2000) it was just that good. If you are a Papa Roach fan you will not be disappointed with this in my eyes it is right up there with the Infest album.
9/10

PAPA ROACH is not like your everyday rock band, they certainly are a breed apart with their intense and personal punk-rock-rap sound defined by Jacoby Shaddix’ powerful vocals. With their upcoming album “The Connection”, due out on September 28th through Eleven Seven Music / EMI, they prove once again that they are still killin’ it and they are still swingin’ after all these years!

Some days ago Metalshock Finland‘s Tarja Virmakari had a chance to interview PAPA ROACH‘s lead guitarist Jerry Horton. In 20 minutes were mainly talked about their new album “The Connection”. Jerry told about the new sound and elements on it… talking about the new video “Still Swingin” he told that it was Jacoby’s 7 year old son who gave the idea for the zombies! If you wanna know more, please join the conversation here below.
The first in a series of video clips featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the new PAPA ROACH album, “The Connection”, and the struggles the bandmembers went through during the making of the CD can be seen below. The five-minute clip includes the song “Before I Die”.
PAPA ROACH‘s video for the song “Still Swingin'” was filmed in New York City with David Brodsky of Brooklyn’s MyGoodEye Music Visuals (HELLYEAH, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, GOATWHORE, MUNICIPAL WASTE, SUFFOCATION). The track is the first single from PAPA ROACH‘s new album, “The Connection”, which will be released on October 2 via Eleven Seven Music. The CD was recorded at the band’s hometown studio, The Red House in Sacramento, California, and was produced by rock veteran James Michael (SIXX: A.M., HALESTORM) and John Feldmann (PANIC AT THE DISCO, THE USED, ESCAPE THE FATE).
Of the tune itself, singer Jacoby Shaddix told Loudwire in an interview, “It is the most important statement for the band. I think it just says a lot about [PAPA ROACH]. It’s about my personal life, my highs and lows and what I’ve gone through and I’m a fuckin survivor dude. I’m a fighter. I think it’s taking a challenge and I’m always willing to step up to it and I’m not going to go out without a fight. And [PAPA ROACH], we’re the band that no matter what we’re fucking up against, we’re gonna prevail.”
PAPA ROACH last month officially dropped off the Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival after just one week, with Shaddix needing surgery to remove a nodule on his vocal cord. Shaddix was diagnosed earlier this summer and attempted to take care of it without an operation, but issued a statement saying, “I was hoping to be able to go out there and kill it on this tour by resting and doing vocal exercises, but my voice has just gone out on me. I hate to let our fans down, but unfortunately surgery is the only way to fix it. The last thing we want to do is give our fans less than 100% every night. We know they’ll understand and we’ll be back better than ever.”
The throat problems follow a tough period during which Shaddix split and reconciled with his wife of 15 years and also fell off the wagon.
According to Rolling Stone, Shaddix will not be allowed to sing or even talk for two months following his surgery.
PAPA ROACH performed an acoustic version of the song “Scars” at the 25th annual Solano Wine & Food Jubilee, which was held on April 27 at the Nut Tree Complex in Vacaville, California. Video footage of their appearance can be seen below.
PAPA ROACH last fall entered the studio with producer James Michael (MÖTLEY CRÜE, HALESTORM, SIXX: A.M., SCORPIONS) to begin recording its new album for a late 2012 release. Source: Blabbermouth.net
