DRAGONFORCE drummer Gee Anzalone has posted on his Official Youtube Channel a new “one take recording” drum video for “Ashes Of the Dawn”, taken from DragonForce‘s new album “Reaching Into Infinity” (out May 2017). Watch the video below.
Commented Gee: “Hi people! I’m officially back on Youtube! Just for you my new didactical drum video “Ashes Of the Dawn” from DragonForce new album “Reaching Into Infinity”, out since may 2017. This is the drum session that i recorded on our new album with Jens Bogren and re-played again by me just for this video! One take recording (as usual) from the beginning till the end of the song, no video editing, no bullshits, just good hard work, sweat, passion and love for what i do. Steal the experience from the Masters and keep always up the good work!!”
Extreme power metal giants DRAGONFORCE unleashed their seventh studio album “Reaching Into Infinity” back in May and have been packing out venues around the world for their live shows. The band are now well into the European leg of their “Reaching Into Infinity” world tour, but prior to that, in Sheffield, England, Metal Shock Finland Senior Manager Alison Booth met up with guitar maestro Herman Li in Sheffield for her Blackdiamond’s Metal Mayhem radio show on TotalRock. (The show can be heard here.)
You can read some excerpts from the chat below and listen in full on the audio player:
Discussing dragons and if he’s a Game Of Thrones fan, Herman was quite expressive about social media, stating:
“Yeah I watch it. I’m not as crazy as people who go to Eastern Europe and visit the sights! I’m not in a rush to see it, like ‘Oh my God I gotta see it!’ And because I’m not in a rush it’s actually pretty horrible – people on social media posting what’s happening. Luckily I don’t follow anyone on Facebook, if you’re my friend I won’t follow you anyway. Every time I friend someone, I click ‘unfollow’ because I don’t care. They want to ruin the sports events for me, I get the results straight away.
Sometimes you’re on tour and you can’t see it immediately and it’s ‘oh thanks!’ Now it seems people want to ruin movies and TV shows and stuff, but I pretend I’m still their friend. But I technically unfriended them in an ‘unfollow’ way!” (laughs)

Discussing the near future, Herman revealed:
“I’m actually working on an instructional guitar thing, a lesson thing. It’s not gonna be the same that you’ve seen out there. The reason I’m doing it is that everyone has approached a bunch of subjects except these ones, that I think are important.
All this is coming from playing around the world for years and playing guitar for years. It’s not just about techniques and playing fast and playing notes – it’s more like the theory involved to be a good guitar player. You know, you can teach people notes, but to create them, you have to show them the path and inspire them, than just saying ‘I can play this really fast here and just copy it’. I’ve been writing about it for a few years anyway, so it’s something I’ve been working on. Finally I’ve the time to make it happen.”
International metal superstars DRAGONFORCE have unveiled a new video for “Midnight Madness”. Taken from latest album, Reaching Into Infinity, the video drops just ahead of the UK and European legs of their massive “Reaching Into Infinity” World Tour.
Giving fans a rare glimpse into the making of a DRAGONFORCE album, the video takes fans behind the scenes with the band when recording the album. Guitarist Herman Li explains: “Many fans have asked us over the years what’s it like working in the studio on an album. The music video from the latest song to be released from the ‘Reaching Into Infinity‘ album – ‘Midnight Madness’, has the perfect vibe to take the fans behind the scene and see what we get up to!”

For their seventh studio album, DRAGONFORCE has opened up their sound like never before, capturing the fierce, forlorn and fun with both menace and melody. “I think we have proven that playing fast was something we were good at, so this time I wanted to bring even more diversity into our music,” Frederic Leclercq (bass) comments. “It’s great to challenge ourselves instead of staying in a comfort zone, and I really wanted to experiment with Marc’s vocals. I think people are going to be surprised at his brutality!” The first album to feature Gee Anzalone (drums), the Italian drummer has laid down an impressive performance to provide the perfect backbone to the DragonForce sound, which of course still boasts the band’s trademark insanely-fast solos, courtesy of guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman. Recording the bulk of the album at Fascination Street Studios, Sweden, with producer Jens Bogren, the band also laid down tracks while touring their Killer Elite “best of”-album, utilizing Lamerluser Studios, (London, UK), Dark Lane Studios (Witney, UK), as well as the band’s own Evil1 Studios in Charleville-Mezieres, France and Shredforce One Studios (CA, USA).
