SLIPKNOT are on hiatus, according to frontman Corey Taylor (STONE SOUR).
Artisan News Service reports: “Corey Taylor has a million things going on with Stone Sour, comic books, movies, books and his film company with Clown, and he said that Slipknot is on hiatus, while Clown said that fans wouldn’t want an album from them unless it comes from a real place.”
Congratulations are in order for SLIPKNOT guitarist Mick Thomson and his girlfriend Stacy Riley, who got married yesterday (Friday, October 5).
SLIPKNOT wrapped up their headlining stint on this year’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival in early August and headlined its own festival, Knotfest, later that same month in Pacific Junction, Iowa and in Somerset, Wisconsin.
SLIPKNOT‘s greatest-hits package, “Antennas To Hell”, sold more than 16,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart. The set consists of 19 songs from the band’s four major label studio albums, as well as live performances of “The Heretic Anthem” and “Purity”, plus a remix of “My Plague”. A 17-track bonus disc, “(sic)nesses: Live At The Download Festival 2009”, is also included in the package.
The collection is the first release from SLIPKNOT since the passing of bassist Paul Gray in 2010.
SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor recently confirmed that the group has been “putting together demos” for its fifth major label album, which it expects to begin recording within the next couple of years.
Source: Bravewords.com SLIPKNOT are announced as the third headliner at Download Festival on Friday 14 June 2013, marking the band’s second headline appearance following an explosive set in 2009.
They join fellow headliners IRON MAIDEN on Saturday, June 15th and RAMMSTEIN on Sunday, June 16th.
‘”We are extremely honoured to have been asked once again to headline the Download Festival,” said SLIPKNOT’s Clown. “It’s always good to have the church of the Knot, the alter of the Knot, giving the sermon of the Knot to the congregation of the Knot, the culture of the Knot. This summer cannot come soon enough. Partake in the imagination or don’t bitch.”
More bands will be announced soon.
Tickets to Download Festival 2013 go on general sale at 9am tomorrow (Friday). For more details visit Downloadfestival.co.uk.

Here’s a clip that’ll show you what we mean – the band plays “Duality” as a tribute to their late bassist, Paul Gray, and the audience joins in on the chorus to pretty awe-inspiring effect. Global rock royalty from such bands as IRON MAIDEN, SLIPKNOT, WHITESNAKE, CHICKENFOOT, THE CULT, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, DEEP PURPLE, JUDAS PRIEST, SLAYER and BLACK SABBATH took part in last night’s (Saturday, September 22) Marshall 50th-anniversary event at Wembley Arena in London, England. The luminaries celebrated the life and work of revolutionary amp pioneer Jim Marshall with an unparalleled display of rock virtuosity.
Following the sad news of Jim‘s death in April, the event, which was already planned to commemorate Marshall‘s 50th anniversary, was ultimately held in honor of the legendary man and his remarkable life.
IRON MAIDEN‘s Nicko McBrain compèred the event and was joined by the world’s most legendary guitarists, acclaimed musicians and Marshall enthusiasts.

Marshall died in April at the age of 88. A message posted at the web site of Marshall Amplification, the company he founded 50 years ago, stated, “Jim‘s ascent into the history books as ‘the Father of Loud’ and the man responsible for ‘the Sound of Rock’ is a true rags-to-riches tale. Cruelly robbed of his youth by tubercular bones, Jim rose to become one of the four forefathers responsible for creating the tools that allowed rock guitar as we know and love it today to be born. The groundbreaking quartet also included the late, great trio of Leo Fender, Les Paul and Seth Lover — together with Jim, they truly are the cornerstones of all things rock.”
The site described Marshall as “a legendary man who led a full and truly remarkable life.”
The cause of Marshall‘s death was not announced.
A former singer, drummer and music shop owner, Marshall eventually landed a job as an electrical engineer that helped him design a transportable amplifier to use at his own live shows. Consulting with musicians like THE WHO‘s Pete Townshend and DEEP PURPLE‘s Ritchie Blackmore, Marshall refined his invention and opened Marshall Amplification in 1962.
By the mid-1960s, he had created the classic Marshall Stack, consisting of one head containing the actual amplifier, on top of two stacked loudspeaker cabinets each containing four 12-inch loudspeakers arranged in a square layout. The setup has become an iconic symbol of rock music played as loud as possible.

SLIPKNOT mastermind Clown, aka Shawn Crahan says that late bass player Paul Gray will contribute to the band’s next album. Check out details in the Artisan News report below:
Clown spoke with Jon Wiederhorn at SPIN.com recently who revealed that drummer Joey Jordison has written 30 new songs, vocalist Corey Taylor has penned lyrics, and guitarists Jim Root and Mick Thomson are busy writing riffs.
“That’s how everyone is coping with the loss of Paul,” Crahan surmises, “by writing. Will all of that stuff be used? No. Will some of it be used? Of course. But until we get to that area I can’t tell anybody anything. It’s like asking me who the next bass player is. I’m not gonna give you an answer ’cause I don’t have to think about it right now. I need about a year to grieve get my shit together so I can control my emotions in the studio, which is something I can’t do right now. I want to be able to go in there and realize my brother’s not there. And then when I’m asked to do a part, I can control myself and give Paul, the band and the fans everything that Slipknot needs to be.”
