Slipknot members Corey Taylor and Shawn “Clown” Crahan recently revealed that they’re starting up their own film and television production company, and the duo have already released a special 15-minute film giving us a previewof what’s in store. Come and watch ‘Thy Shalt I’ inside…
The duo unveiled a special 15-minute feature at last weekend’s Sundance Film Festival, titled ‘Thy Shalt I’, although at present it’s unclear if it’s to be part of a larger project or just a preview of the kind of stuff we can expect to see once the company gets rolling.
Check it out for yourself below…
“It’s something that we’re very passionate about, you know,” Taylor told The Pulse Of Radio. “We have the same passion for film as we do for music and it’s really just our way of kind of, you know, learning the business and once we learn a little more, you know, we get a few projects under our belt and we’re gonna start accepting scripts and developing our own scripts, and I think it’s gonna be something that’s really cool.”
In a statement, Taylor described the company’s first, yet-to-be-named project as “very psychological,” adding, “It’s a study in ‘Did my eyes see what I think they saw?’ It’s definitely going to stir the pot and get the world talking.”
Russ Rosenfeld, a longtime representative for Hoshino, the Japanese trading company that owns the Ibanez brand name, appears to have confirmed rumors that SLIPKNOT will headline this year’s edition of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. Rosenfeld‘s slip of the tongue was captured in the short video clip below while he was introducing the new line of Mick Thomson (SLIPKNOT) Ibanez signature guitars at this past weekend’s NAMM show in Anaheim, California.
The official Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival lineup is expected to be announced on Wednesday, January 25.
Last July, SLIPKNOT completed a three-week European tour that was the band’s first run of dates since the death of bassist Paul Gray a year earlier. A one-off appearance at the Rock In Rio festival in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil followed in September.
SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor and percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan confirmed that the band will tour the U.S. this summer.
Taylor has repeatedly stated in interviews that it’s “still too soon” for the band to be thinking about recording a new studio album following Gray‘s death.
The singer has been touring with his other band STONE SOUR and has indicated that he would like to return to the studio with that group next.
SLIPKNOT‘s last record, “All Hope Is Gone”, was released in 2008.
From the band that created a musical revolution and a legion of fans across the world, comes Living Breathing Films — a new film and television production company specializing in mystery, suspense, horror and the dark side of life.
A collaboration between the Grammy-winning SLIPKNOT visionary and percussionist M. Shawn Crahan and SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor — Living Breathing Films is heading to the Sundance Film Festival to announce projects on tap in 2012.
On Saturday, January 21, Shawn and Corey, along with Sanctuary5B Artist Management, have organized a press conference, launch party and rare acoustic performance for attending media, festival-goers and select fans at The Carhartt Backcountry Club (Treasure Mountain Inn in Park City, Utah) to discuss the exciting film projects heading for production this year.
“We’re heading to Sundance to connect with the industry since we’re now actively looking for TV and film submissions,” Shawn states. The company’s first film is already in development with Corey and Shawn, both of whom are giving input to the script. Taylor promises, “It’ll be very psychological. It’s a study in ‘Did my eyes see what I think they saw?’ It’s definitely going to stir the pot and get the world talking. Those are the best movies.”
Shawn and Corey are renowned worldwide as part of the visually macabre multi-platinum, Grammy-winning nine-piece group SLIPKNOT — one of the biggest hard rock bands in the world. Taylor who is also the dynamic lead-singer for the group STONE SOUR, became a bestselling author last year with his debut “Seven Deadly Sins: Settling The Argument Between Born Bad And Damaged Good”. The book spent four weeks on the New York Times best sellers list and five weeks on the Times Of London‘s best sellers list. Helming numerous documentaries on the group including “Voliminal: Inside The Nine” (2006), “Nine: The Making Of All Hope Is Gone” (2008), “(sic)nesess” (2010), and “Goat” (2011), Crahan co-directed all of SLIPKNOT‘s music videos and the band’s acclaimed shot film for “Snuff” from their fourth album “All Hope Is Gone” in 2009. The six-minute noir video for “Snuff” features legendary actor Malcolm McDowell (“A Clockwork Orange”) while Corey stars in the enigmatic clip which garnered over 14 million views on YouTube. It was only a matter of time before they properly formed a production entity.
SLIPKNOT now has over 11 million Facebook fans eagerly waiting to devour their art, music, videos, written word and vision. With a history of subverting the mainstream and their connection to a younger generation of film fans that are ready to be exhilarated by movies again, 2012 is the start of Living Breathing Films, and the beginning of a new chapter in film history.
“We’ve done it before — we’re equipped to do it again,” Shawn says. “Sit back and enjoy the next level of our art and vision.” Source: Blabbermouth.net
Slipknot and Stone Sour guitarist Jim Root will be launching a signature amplifier at this year’s NAMM conference in Los Angeles on January 21. The Signature #4 Jim Root Terror Head is modelled after the dirty channel on the same amp that Root plays in the studio and on the road: the Orange Rockerverb 100. This all-tube, 15-watt amp features a full 3-band EQ, allowing players to dial in vintage rock, blues or anything else, as well as a tube-driven FX loop which will allow the user to take the tone in any direction they want.
The new Signature #4 Jim Root PPC212 cab has been developed alongside the head to provide Jim‘s full tone. The cab is finished in black vinyl with a specially developed black version of the Orange basket grill cloth and proudly features the signature #4 plate on the front. With a closed back design, the cab has a tight bottom end and delivers Jim‘s signature Orange tone.
Said Root of the name on the signature head, “With this amp, simply giving it the number I use in Slipknot seemed logical. I’ve not been to apt to splash either band logo or artwork all over things, but this will be the beginning of the end of that… maybe.” The rear of the amp features both the Slipknot and Stone Sour logos.
Specifications:
* Volume, Gain, Bass, Mid and Treble Controls
* 12AT7-Driven FX Loop
* 1 x 16 Ohm and 2 x 8 Ohm Outputs
* Switchable Between 15/7 Watts
Jim Root will be personally launching his signature #4 products on the Orange Booth #4890 Hall C at NAMM at 2 PM on Saturday, January 21.

All proceeds from the show will go to Drop In The Bucket, a Los Angeles- and Gulu, Uganda-based non-profit organization that constructs water wells and sanitation systems at large rural schools in sub-Saharan Africa.
Taylor, hot off his recent book tour for the New York Times bestseller “Seven Deadly Sins”, is currently in the middle of a very successful and almost entirely sold-out acoustic tour. He said, “In a time when money is suspect, and politics looks a lot like schoolyard bullying, people forget that there are far greater issues going on in the world. One of which is the fact that millions of people live without water on a daily basis when we as Americans treat it like used tissue paper. It’s only common sense to think that if I can do something to not only help, but also raise awareness, then that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
“Drop in the Bucket is one of the most important and selfless causes I have ever had the privilege to be a part of. And I can only hope that I do some good for it. And to be able to do that by putting on an awesome show with friends like Roy Mayorga, Scott Ian and John 5 just shows how good this business can be sometimes!”
Rollins, a renowned musician, author and punk rock icon, has worked closely with Drop In The Bucket, traveling to Africa last year to see its work on the ground first-hand. “Drop In The Bucket is trying to make things better,” says Rollins. “There’s no profit incentive here. It’s only about getting people to water and keeping them alive and healthy.”
Funds raised at the event will be used to expand Drop In The Bucket‘s vital programs into the northern region of Bahr el Ghazal region of South Sudan. This area is on the verge of a major humanitarian crisis due to the sudden influx of returnees coming from North Sudan following South Sudan’s recent independence.
Drop In The Bucket believes we can help create a world in which children are safe, healthy, educated and free from fear. And they believe that the key to achieving those ends is clean water and sanitation.
