Colorado’s Wayfarer are back. “Perdition’s Crossing“, the band’s first new music since their widely acclaimed 2023 album American Gothic, is out NOW – and it signals a bold new chapter. Featuring the singular voice of David Eugene Edwards (16 Horsepower, Wovenhand), the track marks the beginning of a journey into territory the band hasn’t explored before: dark, cinematic Americana, more desolate than anything in their catalog, but no less haunting for it.
The track was recorded in Colorado, and was produced by Ben Chisholm (Chelsea Wolfe), engineered by James Barone (Beach House), mixed by Iver Sandoy (Enslaved) and mastered by Alan Douches (Converge etc).
Accompanying the single is a music video directed by Brendan McGowan, known for his striking visually work with Tribulation, Imperial Triumphant, and many others.
“Perdition’s Crossing” is a track from Wayfarer’s forthcoming studio album Riders of the Setting Sun, an eight-track record due for release in late 2026 that sees the band push further into new sonic and emotional terrain. More details to follow.
To mark the occasion, Vesperian is releasing a strictly limited 12″ maxi-single of “Perdition’s Crossing” – 300 copies worldwide, pressed on black vinyl with a foldout sleeve featuring lyrics, band comments, and notes on each track. Artwork by graphic novelist Julian Brier. Side A carries the title track; Side B features two exclusives: a remix by Ben Chisholm of Chelsea Wolfe (who also produced the forthcoming album) and a field recording. 200 copies are available in the US, with 100 reserved for Europe exclusively through the Vesperian webstore, up for pre-order on July 23 and to be released in mid-August.

American Gothic purveyors WAYFARER will be embarking on a full North American tour this spring in support of ORANSSI PAZUZU! The trek will kick off during Northwest Terror Fest on May 8 and will make its way through the continent until the curtain draws on May 30 at Prepare the Ground Festival in Toronto, ON. Steeped as deeply in the wells of gothic country and Americana as they are in black metal, WAYFARER have given a sound and a face to the American West in the world of heavy music.

“‘A High Plains Eulogy’ is one of the more stripped down and somber moments on the record. It’s a moody vision of the American frontier, serving a bit as a requiem for an idea that is slipping through one’s hands lost to time.
The video, captured by our longtime collaborator Alex Pace, paints the stark and empty beauty of the Colorado plains, and the Rocky Mountains, where the rock formations of the land serve as its own tombstones. The visuals are a perfect accompaniment to this dark little folksong. It tells of tragedy and sits in the middle of ‘AMERICAN GOTHIC’, fully fleshing out the record’s more personal facets.”

“‘To Enter My House Justified’ is one of the first pieces we wrote for the new record, and certainly is one of the more visceral tracks on it. Aggressive and to the point, it tells the story of a desperate search for respite in a world where powers are changing.
The song is an important cornerstone of the record, and we are thrilled to present it with this striking video that our close associate Alex Pace helped create alongside us.
It was an IMMENSE honor to have Munly J. Munly, of Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, Munly and the Lupercalians, DBUK and so many more seminal Colorado music acts perform as the star of the video. His presence in it is incredibly strong. The video also stars Michael Rouse (of Ghosts of Glaciers), and while it is in part a lens into the world of the record, it is also a bit of a nod to the American films of the late 1960’s and early 1970s which painted the ‘Western’ in a darker and more brutally honest light.”
