The VAN HALEN News Desk (VHND.com) has checked in with the following update:
“Here’s something very cool from the VHND archives…15 photos of Van Halen making a special in-store appearance at a record store during their first world tour back in 1978!
A promotional flyer on the wall shows an image of Van Halen’s only album cover and reads ‘Appearing In Store Friday 2:30 – 4:00.’ Check out all the teenage fans who showed up. Can you imagine hanging out with Van Halen for 90 minutes on a Friday afternoon in a record store?
Note that the band is drinking cans of Schlitz Malt Liquor – their favorite beer at the time. Also note all the signed albums and the promotional poster on the wall – all of which would be highly valued collectibles now, assuming any of those items are still around 33 years later.
Guitar Player Magazine’s Matt Blackett recently took a tour of the EVH factory. In the clip below he takes a look at what goes into creating an EVH guitar:
The original EVH Wolfgang USA guitar was recently released in two distinctive new sans-tremolo versions—the EVH Wolfgang Hardtail and Wolfgang Special Hardtail. These are special editions of the legendary high-performance guitar that started it all, this time with the addition of a TonePros hard-tail bridge with stop tailpiece and fine tuners for the ultimate in stable intonation and precise tuning.
The Wolfgang Hardtail features a basswood body with arched AA maple top; oil-finished quartersawn maple neck with dual graphite reinforcement rods; compound radius (12”-16”) AA birds-eye maple fingerboard with 22 vintage stainless frets, dot inlays and Floyd Rose® locking nut; five-ply black/white body and headstock binding; dual EVH Wolfgang humbucking pickups with three-position switching; EVH custom low-friction volume (500k) and high-friction tone (250k) potentiometers; chrome Schaller string retainer; EVH-branded tuners; and EVH molded-stripe case by SKB. Finish options include Black, Vintage White, Tobacco Burst, Black Cherry Burst and Transparent Amber.
