The track is taken from the band’s brilliant upcoming debut album “Steel”, out on the 27th of January 2012.

Henry Rollins recruited SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor, ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian, SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo, JANE’S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro, STONE SOUR drummer Roy Mayorga and members of Rob Zombie‘s band, including guitarist John 5, for a benefit concert on November 30 at the Avalon in Hollywood, California.
Legendary artist Shepard Fairey, who designed the exclusive poster for the event, was a guest DJ, and Kate Flannery of “The Office” delivered a hilarious musical comedy routine with her ironic lounge act, THE LAMPSHADES.
The setlist was as follows:
01. Calling Dr. Love (KISS cover)
02. Fairies Wear Boots (BLACK SABBATH cover)
03. Everlong (FOO FIGHTERS cover)
04. You Really Got Me (THE KINKS cover)
05. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (AC/DC cover)
06. Walk All Over You (AC/DC cover)
07. Unchained (VAN HALEN cover)
08. Would? (ALICE IN CHAINS cover)
09. Heading Out To The Highway (JUDAS PRIEST cover)
10. Crazy Train (OZZY OSBOURNE cover)
11. Ain’t Talkin ‘Bout Love (VAN HALEN cover)
Fan-filmed video footage of the event can be seen below.
All proceeds from the show will go to Drop In The Bucket, a Los Angeles- and Gulu, Uganda-based non-profit organization that constructs water wells and sanitation systems at large rural schools in sub-Saharan Africa.
Taylor, hot off his recent book tour for the New York Times bestseller “Seven Deadly Sins”, is currently in the middle of a very successful and almost entirely sold-out acoustic tour. He said, “In a time when money is suspect, and politics looks a lot like schoolyard bullying, people forget that there are far greater issues going on in the world. One of which is the fact that millions of people live without water on a daily basis when we as Americans treat it like used tissue paper. It’s only common sense to think that if I can do something to not only help, but also raise awareness, then that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
“Drop in the Bucket is one of the most important and selfless causes I have ever had the privilege to be a part of. And I can only hope that I do some good for it. And to be able to do that by putting on an awesome show with friends like Roy Mayorga, Scott Ian and John 5 just shows how good this business can be sometimes!”
Rollins, a renowned musician, author and punk rock icon, has worked closely with Drop In The Bucket, traveling to Africa last year to see its work on the ground first-hand. “Drop In The Bucket is trying to make things better,” says Rollins. “There’s no profit incentive here. It’s only about getting people to water and keeping them alive and healthy.”
Funds raised at the event will be used to expand Drop In The Bucket‘s vital programs into the northern region of Bahr el Ghazal region of South Sudan. This area is on the verge of a major humanitarian crisis due to the sudden influx of returnees coming from North Sudan following South Sudan’s recent independence.
Drop In The Bucket believes we can help create a world in which children are safe, healthy, educated and free from fear. And they believe that the key to achieving those ends is clean water and sanitation.
Massachusetts metallers KILLSWITCH ENGAGE are continuing to write and demo material for the follow-up to their 2009 self-titled album. Bassist Mike D’Antonio writes in an online posting, “KILLSWITCH ENGAGE should be in the studio in February/March, so expect a summer 2012 release for the new record. We have a bit of a breather in the writing schedule so Adam [Dutkiewicz, guitar] can finish [producing] the [new] SHADOWS FALL record, but as of now we have eight demos finished for the new record. Everything is coming together nicely at the moment… My demos are pretty fast. Blast beats, anyone?”
The latest, self-titled album from KILLSWITCH ENGAGE sold 58,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 7 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on June 30, 2009 via Roadrunner Records. It was produced by Brendan O’Brien (AC/DC, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE) and co-produced by Adam Dutkiewicz.
Dutkiewicz and KILLSWITCH guitarist Joel Stroeltzel spent the last few months touring with TIMES OF GRACE, Adam‘s collaborative project with former KILLSWITCH ENGAGE vocalist Jesse Leach. That band’s debut album, “Hymn Of A Broken Man”, came out in January via Roadrunner Records.
Dutkiewicz recently revealed that he may also be involved in another group, which he described in an interview as “a death metal side project with the drummer from THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and the singer from CANNIBAL CORPSE.”
D’Antonio has been busy with his DEATH RAY VISION, his new project with SHADOWS FALL frontman Brian Fair and former OVERCAST/SEEMLESS guitarist Pete Cortese.
Swedish black metallers NAGLFAR have entered the studio to begin recording their sixth album, “Téras”, for a late spring/early summer 2012 release via Century Media Records. According to a press release, fans should “expect nothing less than another prime example of infernal melodic black metal from the vanguards of the scene.”
Prior to the new album release, NAGLFAR will issue a strictly limited seven-inch EP featuring one track taken from the upcoming CD as well as a second song exclusive to this single.
A limited-edition version of “Harvest”, the 2007 album from NAGLFAR, contained a bonus DVD (featuring four professionally recorded live clips from the Party.San Open Air festival 2006, the video for the track “The Perpetual Horrors” as well as an interview with lead singer Kristoffer Olivius). The cover artwork was created by Travis Smith.
The international edition of the Finnish daily newspaper Helsingin Sanomat has published a profile of Ewo Pohjola, one of the two owners of King Foo, which currently manages about 20 bands, including Finnish/Swedish symphonic metal sueprstars NIGHTWISH.
Pohjola emphasises that he learned how to be a rock manager simply by doing it. He feels that international music fairs have been his most important schools. “There you can meet an amazing array of people, and knowing the right people is crucial for a manager,” he says. “Many probably would be better educated for this work, but if you don’t know anybody, there’s no point.”
More important than education has been the experience.
“I would say that those who want to become managers should play in a band, and work for a year or two in a record company or agency,” he says. “All of this is useful, because everyone is in it for personal gain. It is easier to see things in perspective after seeing all of this from the inside.”
NIGHTWISH‘s 2007 album, “Dark Passion Play”, was the most expensive and cumbersome to produce, but it has sold more than a million copies.
“We have been lucky with record companies and tour agencies, and they have also been willing to take risks,” Pohjola says. “However, the most important thing is that the pieces have continued to be challenging and of high quality.”
