‘L’Endeví‘ the Spanish Goth/Rock Metal band is hitting up a storm with their latest album ‘An Eternity’ which is out now. With their heavy use of beautifully created effects in the intro to the song ‘Gold’ with the sythns creating a dreamscape atmosphere I can see why this band is making big impressions everywhere they go. Into the main section of the track and the music becomes very dark with very expressive punk-esq vocals driving this piece of madness alongside the chops of the guitars. The song flows to and fro between gentle sections and heavy passages whilst remaining technically intricate and highly hypnotising if not enticing to the listener. As you move into ‘Red ivy’ the vocals seem to get more and more aggressive and powerful beyond anything else, with the backing screams and growls mixed with the effects is simply haunting. Powerful music with heavy guitars, powerful drums, and yet the ending was pitiful; however the song had some really great features to it.
As you progress through the tracks you’ll eventually get to the really expressive ‘Slug’ with the fantastic use of leading melody lines to keeps this piece of music flowing constantly throughout.
Into ‘Silent enemy’ which is just simply beautiful in every sense of the word, with the gentle use of vocals and orchestral compositions from the string sections with the clean guitars leading all the way. As the track progresses and the beat kicks in, the vocals keep to a gentle yet affirmative sense. The music slowly gets heavier with some really clever layering and sequences taking you into an entirely different aspect, whilst increasing your view on everything else.
From a heavy madness to super-rich clean passages and the most enticing vocals ever to be placed in a single setting, this album encapsulates all the elements of a really great album and as you leave the last track with a final clarity from ‘The maze’ you can see why I played the whole thing again.

“Well kids, enough with all the secrets… it’s about time we in The Black Dahlia Murder clue you fans in and tell all about our recent hush hush bassist situation… I’m sure some of you who have seen us on tour in the last months have grown curious as to who this mystery man bass extraordinaire could be and have wondered what long time bassist Ryan “Bart” Williams could be up to. After months of tip-toeing around it, we’ve decided to break the silence and let you guys know the truth.
After six long, grueling years of relentless back-to-back touring, Ryan Williams has decided to step down from his full time position in The Black Dahlia Murder to pursue a career in recording (please stop and check out his new gig here: http://www.facebook.com/Augmented.Audio). Although the remaining members are indeed saddened by his decision, the good news is that Ryan will still be involved in the band in many ways, from continued contributions of songwriting (Ryan wrote those sick Robocop riffs in “Malenchantments Of The Necrosphere”, amongst several others, mind you) to overseeing and co-producing future BDM recordings. As you will clearly see by the statements of all parties involved, the change is completely amicable, and the love and brotherhood we’ve shared with Ryan over the years remains untarnished. We wish him the absolute best of luck with Augmented Audio and all of his future endeavors.
Max Lavelle was literally the first idea of a replacement for Ryan, we had toured alongside him when he was playing with Despised Icon a few different times and had the chance to become pretty good friends with the guy as well as be allowed the chance to see him perform live many times. Max is a diehard metal head, a great bassist, a monstrous live presence and a welcome shot of energy into the bloodstream of this band. His enthusiasm for forwarding the whole is inspiring and exactly what we need at this point in time.” – Trevor Strnad

Alan Cross of Slacker Radio conducted an interview with legendary guitarist Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N’ ROSES) during last month’s Slacker Canadian Music Week in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. You can now watch the chat below.
Slash will release his second solo album, “Apocalyptic Love“, on May 22 via his own label Dik Hayd International distributed through EMI.
“Apocalyptic Love” was recorded like a live performance record where the band was all set up in a big room at Barefoot Studios in Los Angeles. The liberated feel of “Apocalyptic Love” is evident throughout the LP’s 13 songs, as is the genuine chemistry between Slash and Myles.
The evolution of their creative relationship went full throttle since the two first joined forces on Slash‘s 2010 debut solo release where the ALTER BRIDGE frontman lent his pipes to the cavalcade of venerable guest vocalists which included Iggy Pop, Ian Astbury and Ozzy Osbourne. Slash‘s debut landed on The Billboard 200 chart at #3 (#1 on the Rock chart, #1 on the Independent chart, and #1 on the Hard Music chart). Digitally, it became the #1 overall digital album and hit #1 on iTunes in 13 countries. “I contacted him out of the blue, sent him one of the songs I was working on which turned out later to be ‘Starlight’,” Slash says. After Myles contributed his ideas and sent it back to Slash, creative forces congealed. “I went, ‘Wow, that’s really good,” recalls Slash. “We flew Myles out to track it and this unassuming mild mannered guy shows up, similar in demeanor to me, sort of quiet, not really explosive in personality. He then nailed ‘Back from Cali’ and it was like, ‘Would you like to do a tour with me?’ I was so happy when he accepted the offer.” For the Spokane-born lead singer, the gig was an opportunity to expand his personal portfolio while exploring some musical synergy with an artist he’d long admired. Over the next 18 months, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and THE CONSPIRATORS — Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums) and Todd Kerns (bass) — toured the world on the album evolving into the tight-knit rock group they are today.
On Sunday, May 13, fans will get an early glimpse of the thunderous power of the band by celebrating the U.S. premiere of the concert special “Slash featuring Myles Kennedy Live: Made in Stoke” airing on HDNet at 8:00 p.m. EDT. Slash and his band tear through cuts spanning his 20-year career with GUNS N’ ROSES (nine GN’R songs will be featured) as well as songs from VELVET REVOLVER, SLASH’S SNAKEPIT and Slash‘s first solo album. Songs performed include “By The Sword”, “Back From Cali”, “Slither”, “Sweet Child ‘O Mine”, “Paradise City” and more that reverberate through the rafters of the sold-out Victoria Hall in Stoke-on-Trent, England, Slash‘s birthplace.
On Saturday, May 19, the group will appear on DIRECTV‘s The Audience Network for the season premiere of “Guitar Center Sessions” airing at 8:00 p.m. ET. For the first time ever, Slash and the band will perform an acoustic set spanning new songs and classics. Slash and Myles Kennedy also sit down for an intimate behind the scenes interview with renowned music journalist and “Guitar Center Sessions” host Nic Harcourt.
In touring news, Slash and the band will kick off a headlining U.S. tour May 3 in Baltimore. The trek will encompass three festival appearances: Saturday, May 5 at Carolina Rebellion; Saturday, May 19 at Rock On The Range; and Friday, May 25 at Rocklahoma. Also on tap is a special CD release show set for Tuesday, May 22 — the day the album streets— in New York City at Irving Plaza.
German thrashers DEW-SCENTED have set “Icarus” as the title of their new album. Vocalist Leif Jensen described the CD’s main theme as “a modern-times, very apocalyptic adaption of elements of the Icarus myth, using a lot of its symbolism while interlinking with several other personal or observant subjects in true DEW-SCENTEDfashion.” While the album — recorded at Soundlodge Studio and produced by Jörg Uken (NIGHTFALL, SUICIDAL ANGELS, GOD DETHRONED) — is not quite a concept album per se, Jensen says “Icarus” “has a pretty coherent lyrical flow, and that helps to enhance and also to intentionally enlarge the atmosphere and vibe created by the music.” The “Icarus” cover artwork was once created by Björn Goosses of Killustrations.
A 36-second teaser for DEW-SCENTED‘s new album can be seen below.
On the live front, DEW-SCENTED was forced to cancel its previously announced appearance at Chronical Moshers open air festival on June 9 “due to logistical complications on our end.” The band will also support Metal Blade labelmates SIX FEET UNDER on a run of shows in August.
DEW-SCENTED‘s latest album, “Invocation”, was released on May 24, 2010 in Europe via Metal Blade Records and May 25, 2010 in North America through Prosthetic Records.
