LEE AARON Says She Is at Peace today with The Moniker Metal Queen, “It’s about feminine empowerment”

The Metal Voice recently spoke Metal Queen Lee Aaron about her new covers album TATTOO ME which was released April 26, 2024 via Metallville.

She also spoke about the cool scenes in her classic video Metal Queen and her thoughts on the moniker the Metal Queen.

When asked how her thoughts on  the moniker the Metal Queen
“I guess I was the first to coin it but it’s kind of become a ubiquitous phrase to define women that perform harder Style music. I guess it’s a good thing.  So it’s never going away, that’s what I’ve learned. So I’m at peace with it. At a certain point in my career  probably more in the late mid to late 90s when the media with the advent of grunge they just did an about face.  Music is cyclical and it does that where they were just like say oh sorry you’re associated with big hair music or classic rock or anything to do with the 80s. If you had released albums your career fell off the edge of a cliff in the 90s.  It wasn’t just me. It was all of those 80s bands. So I went through a phase in my life where I felt a little bit pissed off about being defined completely by that moniker and I didn’t want to play the song in my set. I was just like this is killing me right now but it was killing everybody right? However in later years I have been able to talk a lot about that song because I get asked about it consistently because again the lyrics were about feminine empowerment or empowerment in general. And I’ve got to explain the song and the narrative of the tune was really about pushing back against that 80s sexism with women and men completely controlling and running the industry. We had to fight. The handful of us that were doing hard music in the 80s were women. We had to fight for every scrap of credibility and respect that we received. Not only on the musical front but also in the boardroom with the suits
And having the opportunity to talk about that now I think has completely reframed not only  the name of the moniker but the tune and what it stood for as well. So I you know I’m actually happy to happy to be called that now.”

Eighteen albums into her career, AARON has written, recorded, and produced music achieving gold and multi-platinum sales. Recognized as one of Canada’s top rock vocalists, she’s also made forays into jazz, blues, and even opera, receiving numerous awards and accolades and, most recently, a 2023 induction into Canada’s Walk of Fame.

Italian bassist and composer Alberto Rigoni is thrilled to unveil his latest single and accompanying video, “Strangers In The Night”, a daring reimagining of Frank Sinatra’s classic. This hard rock cover, part of his upcoming album “Unexpected Lullabies,” offers a fresh perspective on a beloved song that has stood the test of time.

Featuring the esteemed Göran Edman on vocals (known for his collaborations with Yngwie Malmsteen) and the exceptional talents of Emiliano Tessitore on guitars (notably from Ehfar, Vinnie Moore, and Mark Boals) alongside Emiliano Bonini on drums, this rendition diverges from the original, delivering a captivating journey filled with powerful guitar riffs and vocals that encapsulate the essence of rock.

Accompanying the track is an exclusive studio video providing a behind-the-scenes look into the creation of this unique interpretation:

The single is available now at:

Reflecting on the project, Alberto shares, “The original Sinatra piece has always held a special place in my heart, serving as an unexpected lullaby during my childhood. With ‘Unexpected Lullabies,’ I aimed to explore those memories from a different angle, blending nostalgia with rock energy. This album is more than just music; it’s a voyage through time and genres, challenging norms and celebrating the emotive power of music. It’s a homage to how music can unexpectedly connect us with our deepest memories.”

CREEPER Unleash “Sanguivore: Special Edition” + Share Visualizer for ‘Love And Pain’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 27, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Leave a comment

CREEPER have unleashed SANGUIVORE: SPECIAL EDITION, which sees the sextet take a fresh fang-toothed bite at the vampiric rock opera by extending its universe with an additional four tracks.

CREEPER launch the album with new focus track “Love And Pain” — a haunting desert noir ballad in which Von Ghould croons a rumination of “despair despair, everywhere” like a Nephilim hybrid of Chris Isaak and Glenn Danzig. It extends the album’s original vision with a fresh chapter of gloomily elegant malevolence.

Watch the visualizer below.

Elsewhere, SANGUIVORE: SPECIAL EDITION hosts an array of special surprises. “Shadows of the Night” plays up to their ’80s power ballad leanings and theatrical flamboyance as keyboardist/vocalist Hannah Hermione takes charge for their take on Pat Benatar’s 1982 Grammy winner. She also commands the mic for the creepily cute murder ballad “Phantom Fantasia.” The set is completed by Count Dalgula’s Queen of the Night Extended Mix of the album’s lead single “Cry To Heaven.” The mix, from producer Tom Dalgety, pumps the original’s drama to maximum with grittier riffs, an extended atmospheric breakdown, and surely the most grandiose guitar solo that Ian Miles has ever committed to tape.

The SANGUIVORE: SPECIAL EDITION is completed by a new black-and-white version of the album’s striking cover art created by Gut Slaughter. The original version by Welder Wings landed CREEPER a nomination for Best Album Art at this year’s Heavy Music Awards, as well as Best Album.

This week sees CREEPER commence a 19-date North American tour as special guests to Black Veil Brides, which includes major shows in New York and Los Angeles. They will resurface in the UK this summer with main stage sets at Download and 2000trees before playing their own show in Portsmouth and then headlining the Burn It Down Festival. Later this year, CREEPER will headline the Halloween gathering at Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival. Their US shows are below.

BLACK VEIL BRIDES Sign with Spinefarm, Announce “Bleeders” EP + Share Video for Title Track

Posted by tarjavirmakari on April 27, 2024

BLACK VEIL BRIDES kick off a new season of redemption and revenge with “Bleeders,” a cinematic music video, battle cry, and tour conceived by band leader Andy Biersack. The “Bleeders” single and enchanting music video (directed by Jensen Noen) coincide with a forthcoming EP of the same name.

Watch the video here.

The Bleeders EP is both a soundtrack and a signpost of everything BVB past, present, and future. The band’s inaugural release in a new partnership with Spinefarm boasts the title track, a loving rendition of Sweeney Todd’s “My Friends,” and a faithful cover of U2’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday.”

The Bleeders Tour transforms the band’s theatrical and allegorical tales of vengeance into real-world philanthropy, incorporating a virtual blood drive with the American Red Cross. “As Bleeders, it’s our mission to effect positive change. Help us to help others in this time of need,” reads a statement from the band, comprised of Biersack, Jake Pitts, Jinxx, Christian “C.C.” Coma, and Lonny Eagleton.

One pint of blood can save as many as three lives. As of April 22, fans have pledged 1577 pints.

Before the birth of the BVB Army, the thousands of lyric tattoos, and the gold and platinum records that followed, Black Veil Brides was simply a dark vision dreamt up by an only child in Ohio.

He already loved Batman and KISS. Then, the striking visage of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, on the cover of his dad’s dusty CD (released a dozen years before he was born) kicked open the door for Biersack. Sweeney Todd cleared the way for The Phantom of the Opera, Misfits, and all that followed, culminating in the birth of Andy Black and the ascension of Black Veil Brides.

The group’s cinematic scope and unwavering commitment to self-expression strikes a familiar chord with their fellow “bleeders” who seek refuge (and revenge) in the power of the dark and imagination.

There are over 160 million views of “Knives and Pens,” an early demo committed to music video before Andy (who moved to Hollywood at 18 and lived in his car) met his band of brothers. The RIAA-certified platinum single “In the End,” itself close to 170 million views, proved the group whose merch dominated Hot Topic before they’d even made their debut album was built to last. In 2021, “Scarlet Cross” became their highest-charting, Top 10 single. “Fallen Angels” went gold in 2023.

They combine a unique identity with an unquenchable creative thirst. They’re an object of devotion for those who sing their anthems in unison, a diverse BVB Army who never surrenders. Bleeders offers a taste of what will become Black Veil Brides’ most visceral, cinematic, and unrelenting era yet.

Black Veil Brides and their audience slash away at the darkness together, bleeders one and all.
