In a departure from their electrifying riff-rock anthems, Robert Jon & The Wreck have just unveiled “Worried Mind,” the latest single from their highly anticipated album, Red Moon Rising. This introspective track showcases a different facet of the Southern California rockers’ musical prowess, emphasizing vulnerability and the universal need for connection. Set to be released on June 28th via Joe Bonamassa’s Journeyman Records, Red Moon Rising continues to reveal the depth and diversity of the band’s artistry.

“Worried Mind” is an evocative ballad that captures the essence of heartfelt conversations and the importance of sharing one’s fears with others. Co-written with Nashville’s own Austin Jenckes, the song began as a simple acoustic melody, which the band chose to preserve in its recording. “Worried Mind” was a song inspired by how important it is to talk with others about the worries that you may have because when you hold it in, it can become so overwhelming,” shares frontman Robert Jon. Recorded live with three acoustic guitars, harmonica, and Robert Jon’s signature vocals, the song’s production by Kevin Shirley ensures its place as one of the standout tracks on Red Moon Rising, offering a “very bare bones sound compared to the rest of the record.”

STREAM “Worried Mind”

The release of “Worried Mind” follows the success of their previous single “Dragging Me Down,” continuing the momentum as Robert Jon & The Wreck embark on their 2024 tour. The band’s evolving sound and dynamic live performances promise to captivate audiences across the globe, from intimate venues to major international festivals. As anticipation builds for the release of Red Moon Rising, “Worried Mind” stands as a testament to the band’s versatility and depth, highlighting the power of music to connect, comfort, and inspire. Join Robert Jon & The Wreck on this intimate musical journey and stay tuned for more updates from their ongoing evolution and the indomitable spirit of rock ‘n’ roll.

Since their debut in 2011, Robert Jon & The Wreck have captivated audiences worldwide, turning the Southern rock sound on its head and making it distinctly their own. With Robert Jon Burrison’s lead vocals and guitar, Andrew Espantman on drums and vocals, Henry James Schneekluth’s lead guitar and vocals, Warren Murrel on bass, and the recent addition of Jake Abernathie on keyboards, the band’s synergy on stage is undeniable. As they embark on this next phase with Red Moon Rising, they invite both long-time followers and new listeners to join in the celebration of their ongoing evolution and the indomitable spirit of rock ‘n’ roll.

CATEGORY 7 – New Band Feat. John Bush, Phil Demmel, Mike Orlando, Jack Gibson + Jason Bittner – Join Metal Blade Records

Metal Blade Records is pleased to welcome CATEGORY 7, the new band featuring vocalist John Bush, guitarists Phil Demmel and Mike Orlando, bassist Jack Gibson, and drummer Jason Bittner, to its legendary roster!

With veteran musicians from such legendary acts as Anthrax, Armored Saint, Adrenaline Mob, Machine Head, Overkill, Exodus, and Shadows Fall, it’s hard not to think of CATEGORY 7 as a supergroup. The origins of the band began with discussions between Demmel and Orlando of their mutual desire to form a twin lead guitar hard rock unit harkening back to bands of the ’70s such as Thin Lizzy. Bittner was next to join the conversation followed by Gibson. After composing some early music, it was obvious that the only vocalist that would fit the concept would be Bush.

Notes Bush, “Mike Orlando’s and Phil Demmel’s awesome riffs made writing lyrics over the music a piece of cake. The rhythm tandem of Bittner and Gibson rounded out the sound and the connection felt like it was put together in the stars. Obviously, everyone being a veteran of the metal scene made it that much easier.”

Based on Demmel’s and Bush’s long-term relationships with Metal Blade Records, it seemed to be the perfect home for the band. The label agreed and a union was quickly forged.

Comments Metal Blade Records’ founder Brian Slagel of the signing, “Happy to welcome CATEGORY 7 into the Metal Blade family. Of course, some of them are already in! Seriously love working with this crew and it’s great stuff!“

As crushing and confrontational as an armed rebellion and as fiercely melodic as infectious riffs and aggressive vocals can be, CATEGORY 7 is a new breed of hard rock that lives up to the storied histories of its members. CATEGORY 7‘s debut will see release this Summer with their first single to be unveiled on May 2nd. Stand by for details!

IVANHOE Present New Video Single ‘Headnut’ from Upcoming Studio Album

May 10, 2024 sees progressive metal veterans IVANHOE release their much-awaited, new album, “Healed By The Sun” via Massacre Records. Available as CD Digipak, Ltd. Vinyl LP and Digital formats, the pre-sale has just recently started at https://lnk.to/healedbythesun

After the band assigned “One Ticket To Paradise” with their latest, first album single, today, IVANHOE present us a second track taken of “Healed By The Sun”! A lyric video for “Headnut” is premiering below, the song is out now on all digital streaming providers at: https://ivanhoe .bfan.link/head nut

“Headnut” describes the psychological burden of COVID, from the restrictions caused by lockdowns, the uncertainty in dealing with governments as well as the psychological consequences and how we deal with them. We weep for the victims while “the beast” roams hungrily around the globe. Our dreams and plans fall short and we see them burning like a light (candle). (As in “Healed By The Sun”, the light is again manifested as hope and healing, which is solidified in the album’s title),” says new IVANHOE member, guitarist Chris Lorey.

Musically, “Headnut” is one of the heavier, faster and more profound songs on the album and explores new paths. It’s more metal than progressive but still features the typical IVANHOE riffing. Chris already worked on this song when he was not yet part of the band.

Although “Healed By The Sun” introduces new band members Chris Lorey and drummer Mathias Biehl, the songwriting process turned out to be a journey back to the roots of the band. Revisiting all previous IVANHOE albums, according to the band, yet the songs on “Healed By The Sun” are catchier and more accessible, and the compositions more sophisticated. Their ninth studio offering was produced by Giovanni Soulas and Lorey, and was mixed and mastered by Andy Horn at The Red Room Studios. The cover artwork was created by Michael Krebes.

Tracklist:

  1. Daybreak
  2. Healed By The Sun
  3. Headnut
  4. Moments In Time
  5. Goodbye
  6. Small Path Home
  7. Invictus
  8. Picture In My Mind (Bonus Track)
  9. One Ticket To Paradise
  10. War Of Ages
  11. 10C
  12. Broken Illusions
  13. Awaiting Judgement Day (Re-recorded) – CD Bonus Track

IVANHOE is:
Alex Koch – Vocals
Chris Lorey – Guitars
Gio Soulas – Bass
Richie Seibel – Keyboards
Mathias Biehl – Drums

FULL EARTH Reveal New Studio Session Video of Latest Album “Cloud Sculptors”

Following the release of their much-acclaimed debut album Cloud Sculptors (released in March 2024 via Stickman Records), experimental Oslo based rock-quintet Full Earth has shared a new, intimate studio session video for the track “Full Earth pt II – Disintegration”.

Full Earth is the latest psychedelic wunderkind from the far north. Headed by and centered around composer and drummer Ingvald Vassbø (best known for his stellar drumming in Kanaan, now also playing with Motorpsycho), the ambitious new band is rounded out by Kanaan bandmates Ask Vatn Strøm and Eskild Myrvoll, as well as bassist Simen Wie and organist/synthesist Øystein Aadland.

In support of Cloud Sculptors, Full Earth will embark on an extensive European tour to kick off this April, find all upcoming live dates listed below!

Full Earth creates entrancing organ and synth-laden soundscapes anchored by tight rhythmic grooves. As arpeggiated keys pass and interlock with one another, a compelling and hypnotic picture reveals itself to the listener gradually. With a deep connection and love for minimalist music, heavy stoner rock ala Sleep, High on Fire and Elder and the electronic avant-garde, the Full Earth– sphere circles in on fuzzed out riffs, sonic experimentalism and noise music. Broadly speaking, Full Earth is equal parts heavy progressive rock and experimental music. Cloud Sculptors is a monumental album running 80+ minutes in which the band explores every facet of their musical interests: massive riffs, intricate and driving rhythms, swirling organs and ambient passages.

Cloud Sculptors is available as a double clear LP (including download) and CD at: https://www.stickman-records.com/shop/full-earth-cloud-sculptors

Full Earth is:
Øystein Aadland – farfisa organ, yamaha yc30 organ, mellotron, synthesizer
