Alternative-rock majesty is bountiful on THE DAYDREAM DISTRICT’s new single, ‘New American Hymnal.’ Here, their vibrant performances and sing-along melodies are matched in equal measure by their poignant yet humorous take on American consumerism, politics, and a potential future techno-apocalypse.
‘New American Hymnal’ is officially out now digitally via Golden Robot Records.
The Daydream District is a band from Raleigh, NC that is equal parts hard and pop rock, with a twist of lemon. Blending esoteric, neurotic lyrics with catchy sing-along choruses, the band has a keen pop sensibility peppered with revivalist 90s rock stylings.
The band released its debut album God Damned the Scatterbrain in April 2021, having been described by fans as “an album that flows with purpose and poise, and is filled with vibrant melodies – reminiscent of REM.”
In August 2021, the band signed with Golden Robot Records for its upcoming releases. With its album release and quick succession of singles, The Daydream District is proving itself to be an artist to watch in the coming years.

After their previous release, “The Sky is the Limit”, Norwegian band STARGAZER entered the radar of connoisseurs of the hard-rocking world. The group was loudly hailed as one to watch. They received a lot of great reviews all over the western world and were, back then in late 2019, ready to take on the world for serious touring. But serious touring saw an abrupt end due to Covid-19 for almost every band in 2020-21, with Stargazer being no exception.
The nordic five-piece didn’t lose their spirit and, diligently, took the downtime to start penning their next album. Produced by guitar player William Ernstsen and vocalist Tore André Helgemo, “Life Will Never Be The Same” is the result of those dark times with a silver lining ahead. Engineered by William at Jedimasterstudios, Trondheim, and mixed and mastered in Medley Studios, Copenhagen, by Soren Andersen (Glenn Hughes, Electric Guitars, etc), “Life Will Never Be The Same” is exactly the kind of album that you’d expect from a matured Stargazer and then some.
The five-piece powerhouse hammers on with Scandinavian vibes that consist of virtuosity and a vintage sound with a modern twist. Firing on all cylinders in combination with the sense of good melodies, great riffs, solos and songwriting handcraft. With one of rock’s best voices and one of the best blues-based hard rock guitar players around today. All this on top of a rock steady hard groove with killer rock songs such as “Live My Dream”, or down to the most tender and heartfelt tunes, for example, the single “Live Today”, with emotions worn on their sleeves.
“Life Will Never Be The Same” is the sound of Norwegian classic hard rock flagship, and Stargazer sets sail again with this third release in their discography. One to change their life – and yours – for good.
“Life Will Never Be The Same” is out today on digital, digipack CD and gatefold double LP (black vinyl, limited to 500 units). Orders are available here and here.
Lineup: Tore André Helgemo – vocals, rhythm guitar William Ernstsen – lead & rhythm guitars Sondre Bjerkset – keyboards Jomar Johansen – bass Svend Skogheim – drums

Coming from a background playing with such names as Samhain, Mourning Noise, and even the unholy legion that is Danzig, Steve Zing is back with his highly anticipated second album THE WAITING from his passion project, BLAK29. The Waiting released now on Cleopatra Records and is available on all streaming platforms.
Named for Zing’s June birthdate and love for playing roulette, the band’s sound is as unique and classic as Las Vegas itself.
Featuring Zing on vocals and drums and Dan Tracey on bass and guitar – both wrote and co-produced the album. The songs on this record pick up where the first album left off, but also hit things harder than ever before. Zing also recruited Danzig bandmate Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative, Quiet Riot), Tommy Victor (Prong, Ministry), and Jyrki 69 (The 69 Eyes) for guest spots on the record. The sampling of songs on the album range from snarling, rock fury to more contemporary thrashers backed by the power of a storied musical career and a full command of the genre.
The band’s influences run the full spectrum, from punk by way of the Misfits, Damned, and Ramones to ‘80’s goth and prog rock. Described by critics as a dark, groove-based rock ‘n’ roll band, their distinct blend of rock is destined to leave a permanent mark on the genre.
Zing describes the band’s musical progress: “We start with ideas in my head, and somehow Dan can figure out what I’m trying to get across. We were both pretty amazed at how easily ideas were bouncing off each other, which led to the full-length, Love and Anger, in 2016. The new release on Cleopatra Records, The Waiting, hales from the depths of the living and the dead.”
“This is not a metal or punk album as some would expect, but we consider it a personal tragedy and triumph, blend of ideas and emotions that resulted in a combustible cocktail,” says Zing. Turn up the volume… more to come!”
“My man Steve Zing and Dan Tracey really knocked it out of the park on “The Waiting”. It was also great to play a little guitar on “Destroyer “and “Long Cool Woman” – Tommy Victor, Prong/ Danzig
THE RECORD IS AMAZING!!! It’s like the BEST NYC SMELLING DARK GROOVE ROCK’N’ROLL ALBUM that I would put on after a long weekend and afterparties after Sunday’s Limelight Rock’n’Roll Church eve!!! 80’s horror vibes, doomy rock, comics and rock’n’roll as we know it!!!! FUCKIN’ GREAT!!! –Jyrki 69
“My desire for BLAK29 is for people to experience the emotions and responses that I have creating this music with Steve Zing. Music elicits passion, joy, elation, excitement, release, therapy and the release of sorrow. I hope BLAK29 will garner enjoyment in the lives of the listeners.” – Dan Tracey
“We are extremely proud to be working with Steve Zing releasing both his groundbreaking punk band Mourning Noise as well as this new album from the phenomenal Blak29. Steve’s uncompromising vision and fearlessness is exactly the kind of qualities we look for in artists because that’s where the best stuff comes from. And Blak29 just flat-out RIPS!” – Ken Tighe, Cleopatra Records.
The band’s debut album, Love and Anger, came on the scene in 2016. Immediately, critics noticed the fusion of Alice Cooper-esque rock ‘n’ roll swagger, doom-tinged fury, and classic grooves and rhythms. Now, after a hiatus spanning COVID and the major global shift that came with it, they are back with a new album.
Blak29 recently released the music video for Destroyer on January 25th of this year. Watch music vidoe here:
