Canadian progressive sci-fi metal innovators VOIVOD are delighted to announce their new studio album “Synchro Anarchy”, scheduled for worldwide release on February 11th, 2022 via Century Media Records.

VOIVOD drummer Michel “Away” Langevin checked in with the following comment about the upcoming release: “We are eager to present our latest work, a real collaborative effort. The new album represents countless hours of writing, demoing, recording, mixing and so on. The band and Francis Perron at RadicArt Studio gave their very best to make it happen under unusual circumstances, which led us to call it “Synchro Anarchy”. We feel that the sound and music are 100% Voïvod, and we hope everyone will enjoy it as much as we had fun making it. We certainly can’t wait to play it live!”

Closing in on 40 eventful years of existence, VOIVOD now return with their 15th (!) studio album, reaffirming to be one of the most fervently creative bands in the Universe. “Synchro Anarchy” follows 2018’s highly praised and Juno Award winning “The Wake” album as well as 2020’s stellar “Lost Machine – Live” release. The new album was again produced with Francis Perron at RadicArt Studio, features cover artwork (to be seen above!) once more created by VOIVOD’s Michel “Away” Langevin and includes the following track-listing:

VOIVOD – “Synchro Anarchy”

  1. Paranormalium

  3. Planet Eaters
  4. Mind Clock
  5. Sleeves Off
  6. Holographic Thinking

Further details about the album’s release formats, a first single and video as well as the start of the pre-order campaign are coming up on Friday, December 10th, 2021. Mark your calendars.

Danish folk metal purveyors SVARTSOT have teamed up with Metal Shock Finland to premiere, for Finnish territory, their new official video ‘Liden Kirsten’, the first song to be known from the band’s upcoming album “Kumbl”. Order the single at https://svartsot.lnk.to/kirsten

Watch ‘Liden Kirsten’ here:

Fresh from being signed to Mighty Music, Danish folk metal purveyors SVARTSOT have released the first digital single and official video of the album, today on December 3rd. And, what a way to start showing music from “Kumbl”. “Liden Kirsten” is a catchy traditional anthem which the nordic six-piece re-worked to make their own.

“One of the lesser-known old folk ballads from Denmark, this song is about a king who decides that he wants to get married and have children without telling the lucky lady of his intensions first”, the band reveals. “Only after Little Kirsten has given birth to two boys does he tell her that he is the father, and that she may be his queen”.

Although it is now quite a while since Svartsot has released new material, the band is still very much alive and kicking. In the interim since 2015’s Vældet, the beer-soaked folk metallers have been active on the live scene in Denmark and abroad, including appearances at various major festivals as well as at the prestigious 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise in 2019. After a change of bassist and the decision to shelve an album’s worth of material in 2017/18, the idea of releasing a collection of traditional folk songs that have inspired the band, reworked in Svartsot’s characteristic style, was spawned.

The original idea was to release this fifth album, entitled “Kumbl” (an old Danish word meaning ‘monument’ or ‘memorial’), in 2020 to coincide with Svartsot’s 15th anniversary. However, due to various practicalities, the album was first recorded — by none other than the band’s drummer and up-and-coming producer, Frederik Uglebjerg (www.uglebjerg.com) — during the pandemic.

In support of the album, Svartsot have been booked for a series of concerts across Denmark. Whilst only a few European shows are booked or planned at the moment, more will hopefully follow, if travel regulations permit.

“Kumbl” will be re-released in CD, LP and digital formats via Mighty Music on February 25th, 2022.

Line-up:
Simon Buje: bass
Frederik Uglebjerg: drums
Michael Alm: rhythm guitars
Cris J.S. Frederiksen: lead guitars, acoustic guitars (studio), mandolin (studio)
Hans-Jørgen Martinus Vork Rosenwein: tin whistles, electric bagpipe, mandolin (live)
Thor Bager: vocals, mandolin (studio)

AT THE GATES Launch New Video for “Cosmic Pessimism”; “The Nightmare Of Being” Track-By-Track Clip Series; New Live-Dates

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES continue to promote their much acclaimed latest studio album “The Nightmare Of Being” (Released worldwide via Century Media Records) by launching a new video clip for the track “Cosmic Pessimism” today.

Check out the video directed by Costin Chioreanu / Twilight 13 Media here:

AT THE GATES vocalist Tomas Lindberg Redant comments about the outstanding “Cosmic Pessimism” song as follows: “’Cosmic Pessimism’ is one of the central tracks of the new record. Not only drawing the title from the Eugene Thacker book of the same name, the lyrics actually are written by Eugene himself. This is something I am very proud of, the collaboration with one of the central figures when it comes to modern day pessimism and the idea of how it correlates to cosmic horror. It is a suffocatingly strict and repetitive song, and it displays the mood of the lyrics brilliantly, in my opinion. AT THE GATES have always been fans of anything eclectic and extreme, and we are finally at a moment in our career where we feel comfortable lifting in some of these, more avantgarde influences within the at the gates trademark sound. Minimalistic neo classical influences here clash with the deutsche rock/”kraut” and no wave sounds that we love so much. The video is once again shot by Costin, our longtime collaborator, and, once again, he managed to add extra depth and texture to the music and lyrics.”

Most recently, AT THE GATES have also launched a four-part lyrical talk as “Track-By-Track” video series with Decibel Magazine, where Tomas Lindberg Redant expands upon the literature and philosophy that underpin “The Nightmare of Being”. Watch it here:

Co-founders of the German medieval rock movement SUBWAY TO SALLY celebrate the 20th anniversary of their hit album, Herzblut, which has reached more than 6.3 million streams on Spotify alone, with an epic reissue of their song “So Rot” alongside an atmospheric music video! Throughout their nearly 30-year career, the formation from Potsdam has recorded 13 studio albums, performed at over 1600 concerts worldwide and toured numerous times at the biggest metal & rock festivals such as Rock am Ring, Greenfield, Nova Rock and Wacken Open Air, where they stood on stage as proud record-keepers more times than any other band in the world!

With the high-quality production on the new version, SUBWAY TO SALLY shows a new facet of their classic fan favorite “So Rot”. The introduction is provided by crackling backdrops and frontman Eric’s narrative vocals, accompanied by warm guitars and ambient percussion. However, the atmospheric soundscape gains more and more strength as it progresses and promises a multi-faceted performance alternating between gripping electric guitars, clashing cymbals and rousing kickdowns that always go hand in hand with medieval background music. New and old fans are guaranteed to be thrilled!

SUBWAY TO SALLY on “So Rot XXMMI”:
“If you go by sales figures, HERZBLUT is one of our most successful albums to date. But not only that, the record is also very popular with our fans. No wonder, since numerous SUBWAY TO SALLY classics can be found on it. The track “So Rot” is one of the secret favorites of both us and our fans. It was a heartful wish for us to transport this song into the year 2021 on its anniversary. We think we have succeeded well with the new edition and are sure that our fans are happy about this little present.”

A few months ago, SUBWAY TO SALLY released their traditional Eisheilge Nacht for the first time as a virtual concert experience, including top-class guests. The result has become a strong DVD/BluRay/CD.

Get your copy of Eisheilige Nacht – Back to Lindenpark NOW!

Since their foundation in the early ‘90s, SUBWAY TO SALLY have established themselves at the top of the scene. Having released thirteen studio records so far, the seven-piece featuring the remarkable Eric Fish on vocal duties never fails in surprising their devotees with an ingenious symbiosis of folk, heavy metal and rock.

VANILLA FUDGE Release Remastered Version of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Ramble On’

VANILLA FUDGE throw out another re-worked Led Zep classic, this time it’s ‘Ramble On’ to go with the recently released ‘Immigrant Song’ and ‘Rock and Roll’. All 3 tracks come from the soon to be released album Vanilla Zeppelin.

This is Led Zeppelin done ‘’Fudge’’ style. This remastered version of ‘Ramble On’ is available now on all digital platforms via Golden Robot Records.

Listen/Buy ‘Ramble On’ HERE

A great ode to one of the most respectable and best bands of all time, by one of the most respectable and best bands of all time. VANILLA FUDGE add their own slant to Led Zeppelin’s ‘Ramble On’, including some amazing organ interludes. This version definitely has a life and identity of its own.

Vanilla Fudge was one of the first American groups to infuse psychedelia into heavy rock sound to create “psychedelic symphonic rock” an eclectic genre which would, among its many off shoots, eventually morph into heavy metal.

Although, at first, the band did not record original material, they were best known for their dramatic heavy, slowed-down arrangements of contemporary pop songs which they developed into works of epic proportion.

Originally, Vanilla Fudge was a blue-eyed soul cover band called The Pigeons, formed in New Jersey in 1965 with organist, Mark Stein, bassist, Tim Bogert, drummer, Joey Brennan, and guitarist, vocalist and US Navy veteran, Vince Martell. They built a following by gigging extensively up and down the East Coast and earned extra money by providing free lance in-concert backing for hit-record girl groups. In early 1966, the group recorded a set of eight demos that were released several years later as “While the World Was Eating Vanilla Fudge”.

The East Coast, in particular, New York, and New Jersey, created a sound all its own. Inspired by groups such as The Rascals and The Vagrants (fronted by guitarist, Leslie West of “Mountain” fame). The Pigeons reworked many of their own existing arrangements of covers to reflect their unique interpretation of this “East  Coast Sound”.

In late 1966, drummer, Joey Brennan, moved out to the West Coast; The Pigeons immediately drafted drummer and vocalist, Carmine Appice, a disciple of the renowned Joe Morello (Dave Brubeck Band) and a seasoned veteran of the club scene. In early 1967, The Pigeons manager, Phil Basile, convinced producer, George “Shadow” Morton (producer for The Shangri-Las and Janis Ian), to catch their live act. Impressed by their heavy-rocking, trippy and psychedelic version of The Supremes’ ‘You Keep Me Hangin’ On’, Morton offered to record the song as a single. This resulted in a deal with the atlantic subsidiary Atco, which requested a name change.

The band settled on Vanilla Fudge. Vanilla Fudge celebrated their 50-Year Anniversary in 2017 and is still rocking the world as hard as ever.
