Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing of GRONIBARD! The French gore grind outfit will be releasing their new album via the label in the spring of 2022!

GRONIBARD comment on the signing: “We, Gronibard, are very proud to be under the Season of Mist banner. Michael has promised us to pay us with the Morbid Angel’s ‘Illud Divinum Insanus’ collector boxset and assured us it will reach great value soon and make us rich.“

For a glimpse of what’s to come, check out GRONIBARD‘s album ‘Satanic Tuning Club’ HERE

The French gore grind masters of GRONIBARD were formed in Lille (FR) in 1998 and released their very first album ‘Gronibard’ about 10 years ago, in 2001. Shortly after, the band was invited to play the mighty Maryland Death Fest in 2005 alongside WORMED and DESPISED ICON. In 2008, Gronibard released their second full length “We are french fukk you” resulting in more European shows and Festival appearances.

In the spring of 2022, GRONIBARD will release their third brand new album via Season of Mist!

With the recent release of the band’s 15th studio album to critical and fan acclaim, Dream Theater have released another music video from A View From The Top Of The World. The video for “Awaken The Master” is a frenetic, high-definition CGI marvel from long-time collaborator Wayne Joyner. Continuing to challenge themselves as musicians, “Awaken The Master” marks the first recorded use of an eight-string guitar by John Petrucci. The track was the last one recorded for the album and clocks in at an impressive 9:47 – making it the 3rd longest song on A View From The Top Of The World. The video for “Awaken The Master” can be seen HERE

“It’s the last song we wrote. It’s also the first time I’ve used my eight-string guitar, which was fun for me. Back in the day when we were writing Awake, I’d always wanted to play a seven-string. So, I ordered myself one. I wanted to be inspired again by the instrument without any pre-conception. I used it, and I wrote in my style on the eight-string. It was actually a prototype! ‘Awaken The Master’ purposefully starts with guitar only. John Myung wrote the lyrics. Recently, I heard him say, ‘The master was your heart’. He was referring to awakening your heart. It’s one of the heavier songs on the record due to the range of the instrument,” explains John Petrucci.

ARJEN LUCASSEN (Ayreon) is back with a new Star One album titled Revel In Time.  The new album comes more than 10 years since the previous release and is due out on Feb 18th, 2022 on InsideOutMusic. Today, Arjen is pleased to share the first single and video from the album’s closing track “Lost Children of the Universe”.

Arjen has this to say about the track:
“This 10-minute epic is the first video clip/single of the new Star One album Revel in Time. The lyrics are inspired by the movie Interstellar.

This is a slightly different version than on the CD. On CD1 Roy Khan sings the lead vocals and on CD2 Tony Martin sings the lead vocals. For this YouTube version I combined their voices. Both such great singers, I just couldn’t choose! Hope you enjoy it. Thanks for your attention!”

The album will be available for pre-order on Dec. 17th and it will come as Ltd. 2CD Digipak, Ltd. Deluxe 3CD+Blu-Ray Artbook (incl. a poster of the cover artwork), and as 180g Gatefold 2LP (incl. the album on CD & an LP-Booklet).

CD 2 features alternate versions of the same songs as CD 1, but with different vocalists. Also available will be a 5.1 mix, a high-res audio version, and an exclusive, hour-long Behind the Scenes video, on the Blu-ray included in the Artbook.

On their upcoming album, INFECTED RAIN have redefined themselves. Ecdysis electrifies with resonating riffs, cosmic electronics, Lena’s treasure trove of vocal abilities and intense lyrical themes ranging from depression and abandonment to embracing reality – showcasing the band’s advancement while blending extreme, progressive groove with dark, haunting melody.

Just recently, they’ve shared a first album appetizer, the brand new single “Postmortem Pt. 1”. The potent track dispenses the band’s patented formula instantly, with eerie synth-laden soundscapes seamlessly cascading into countless layers of cosmic atmosphere backed by thick, grooving riffs, barreling drums and skyscraper growls. Get yourself into the perfect mood of finally seeing them live again soon, and watch INFECTED RAIN’s new music video for “Postmortem Pt. 1” here:

Produced once again by Valentin Voluta, Ecdysis successfully demonstrates ultramodern brutality without sacrificing emotion and melody – showcasing a new layer of INFECTED RAIN that longtime followers and new fans alike will embrace.

“While the whole world was in a deep depression, Ecdysis was slowly but surely maturing“, Lena commented earlier. “The time in isolation away from all our plans and goals, away from loved ones and the stage, brought out something so new and different in us. A new chapter starts with this album, a chapter of raw emotions and complete commitment.”

LORD OF THE LOST Release TRVE WESTERN VERSION of ‘Viva Vendetta’

Shortly after the release of their most successful album to date, JUDAS (#2 in the German album charts), LORD OF THE LOST deliver their next highlight with the BluRay/DVD/CD release of their almost two-hour Sinister Summer livestreaming concert under the name The Sacrament of Judas on December 10, 2021. Now, the Hamburg based band has yet another highlight to offer – the TRVE WESTERN VERSION of “Viva Vendetta”.

Backed by the most elaborately produced music video in the band’s history so far, LORD OF THE LOST go one better and release “Viva Vendetta” as an authentic soundtrack to the completely Western-style video. A musical recreation of the famous Ennio Morricone soundtrack style, the band creates an unmistakably honest western flick that couldn’t have hit the mark more precisely, proving that they are quite capable of venturing into new territories without losing their personal trademarks!

Chris Harms on the new version:
“As we are confronted with more and more hate on the internet that comes with our increasing success, we see more often that we are ‘too dark’ for the rock scene, ‘too colorful’ for the gothic scene and ‘not hard enough’ for the metal scene. We’re told we look way ‘too gay’ and are ‘not true’, whatever that means. We love to dance between the chairs, and will never voluntarily sit in just one of them, ergo that’s perfectly fine for us. As is so often the case, things get rolling for us spontaneously through crazy ideas. During an extremely entertaining discussion about the dusty meaning of ‘trueness’, we realized that there is nothing ‘truer’ for a western video than an authentic-sounding western soundtrack variant of the song. And so, we spared no expense or effort, and with extreme attention to detail, created the TRVE WESTERN VERSION of “Viva Vendetta“.“

Watch the TRVE WESTERN VERSION of “Viva Vendetta” HERE:

On their new offering JUDAS, LORD OF THE LOST draw the listener into a conflict that has lasted for thousands of centuries and is as old as mankind itself: The conflict between good and evil. On JUDAS, LORD OF THE LOST tell of this conflict from the perception of the character of Judas Iskarioth, known as highly diverse, and the so-called Gospel of Judas, a paper that’s said to consist of conversations between Jesus Christ and Judas Iskarioth and casts a different light on religious history as it’s told in the Bible’s New Testament.

LORD OF THE LOST on JUDAS:
“Don’t judge a book by its cover. This sentence could hardly apply any better to someone in theological history than to the figure of Judas Iskarioth, who represents only one thing at first glance: Betrayal. If you take a closer look, almost endless possibilities of interpretation open up here: from “Judas the murderer” to “Judas the redeemer” and “Judas the actual martyr”, who, if you believe in it, could only find room in hell for his salvific betrayal after dying for what he did, in complete contrast to Jesus Christ. This field of tension and the apocryphal writings of the “Gospel of Judas” are the basis for a double album that not only illuminates the dark and light side of history, but above all the grey areas in between, in which we move emotionally and ideologically throughout our lives and try to find our place.”
