DESERTED FEAR Release IN FLAMES Cover ‘Artifacts Of The Black Rain’

With “Artifacts Of The Black Rain”, German Death Metallers DESERTED FEAR launch a next new digital single after the recent release of “Funeral Of The Earth”.

Originally written and released by Swedish melodic death metal pioneers In Flames on their 1996’s album “The Jester Race”, the track “Artifacts Of The Black Rain” was now covered by DESERTED FEAR and was also featured as B-Side on the band’s exclusive, limited (500x copies) 7inch, which was recorded, mixed and mastered by DESERTED FEAR’s own Fabian Hildebrandt at Eisensound Studio.

Check it out here or here.

DESERTED FEAR commented about the decision to pick this classic tune:

“For the B-Side of the EP we wanted to cover a song from another band, something we did live all the time in our early days because we didn’t have enough own songs to play a full set, haha. And in the studio we also didn’t cover a song in a long time!”, Fabian states.

Further Mahne comments, “We chose an old In Flames song, because not only for us, but also for many other bands our age, the early In Flames albums were very influential and we learned a lot from them, especially on the guitar!”

DESERTED FEAR’s version of “Artifacts Of The Black Rain” is available on all digital platforms as of today.

For all who haven’t ordered their copy of the limited 7-inch release of “Funeral Of The Earth”yet, get yours here before it’s too late: https://www.desertedfear.de/shop/

SABATON Release New Single ‘Christmas Truce’

December 24th, 1914: Late On Christmas Eve, British Expeditionary Force heard German troops in the trenches opposite them singing Christmas carols and saw lanterns and small fir trees along their trenches. Messages began to be shouted between the trenches.

The following day, British and German soldiers met in no man’s land and exchanged gifts, took pictures and some even played football. It was a rare but magic moment of peace and harmony in the midst of one of the most atrocious events in the 20th century.

Today, Swedish metal heroes SABATON release a song about this outstanding event that is known today as “Christmas Truce”.

Listen/download here: https://music.sabaton.net/ChristmasTruce

SABATON mastermind and bassplayer Pär Sundström on “Christmas Truce”:
“Christmas Truce was our highest priority when we decided to write songs about World War One.
Not only was it the most requested topic from our fans, but it was, for us, the most emotional story from the war. This song took us years to create since we wanted the music to reflect the mood honestly and it was a big challenge, but we feel we managed to write a song that captures the spirit of this day, over a century ago.”

“Christmas Truce” foreshadows the tenth masterpiece of SABATON, “The War To End All Wars”, that will be released on March 4th, 2022 via Nuclear Blast Records. Once again, SABATON will dive deep into the atrocities, miracles and happenings around WWI and take the listener to an emotional and exciting ride of 11 tracks.

EVIL SCARECROW Release New Single ‘Master Of The Dojo’

In celebration of finally being allowed to get back on the road EVIL SCARECROW release their new single “Master of the Dojo”. This track is premiered on Bandcamp but will also be available through the usual vendors and streaming services.

A song about a well-known 80’s karate movie doesn’t exist in the Evil Scarecrow catalogue, does it? Well, actually, YES SENSAI! We’ve only gone and written an homage to one of our favourite childhood films, and we reckon it kicks ass.

Master of the Dojo features epic heavy riffage, silly lyrics about karate, a brand new set piece for our live shows, and – of course – some lovely crowd participation. So if you’re ready to wax on, wax off in the most metal way possible, grab the new single and come visit us on our tour! *bows*

TUOMAS ROUNAKARI Launches Crowdfunding Campaign for New Solo Album “Bear Awakener”, First Teaser Revealed

Posted by tarjavirmakari on October 29, 2021

Violinist, composer, ethnomusicologist TUOMAS ROUNAKARI launches the crowdfunding campaign for his second solo album “Bear Awakener“, pre-orders start on Thursday November 4th at Indiegogo!

“Bear Awakener” focuses on bear myths of the Nordic peoples.
The name “Bear Awakener” comes from a set of ceremonial songs sung during the bear feast in order to awaken the bear.

Planned release date is March 13th 2022. According to an ancient Finnish bear-calendar, this date marked the end of winter hibernation and awakening of bears.

Get ready to join and support the cause! More information TBA, so stay tuned!

Furthermore, Tuomas has revealed the first teaser for “Bear Awakener”, watch it here:

Just recently Tuomas launched a survey for fans and music lovers. Please read his message below.

“What is your favorite format for listening to music?

The production of my next solo album has started and we expect to release it in spring 2022. How to release it is still a question that I now seek for your help.

Just like many of my fellow musicians, I find it difficult to comply with today’s music business. Statements such as ‘album is dead’ point towards fast food consumerism of music that simply does not feel right.

Do you remember the time, when you had to send money on a letter somewhere and hope for the best, when ordering an album from someone not a mainstream artist? And the feeling when the album arrived? How could we create these feelings today?

This next album of mine is not going to be available on the streaming platforms. This album will have songs that are sacred, and I approach it more like a book than a record. Something that one dedicates time to be with. And yet, the many formats we have for listening are not bad themselves.

I’d appreciate to hear from you on your listening preferences outside of streaming giants Spotify, Apple music and the likes. Do you have a favorite channel for digital albums? Do you still love your CD’s and take time to listen to them from the actual CD? Is vinyl a must for you?

I dream about creating a gift-box CD, a true collectors item, only available as a pre-order. But what other formats should I be looking for?

There is no right or wrong for these questions. I genuinely appreciate every answer! This is both a survey of what all of you prefer. And a wish to hear stories about things that made an album feel special for you.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
Tuomas”

TUOMAS ROUNAKARI is a violinist, composer, ethnomusicologist (MA) and an educator from Finland. He has collaborated with artists from different arctic indigenous cultures and has studied shamanism and ritualistic music of northern Eurasia. He is also considered a key figure in revitalizing the near extinct tradition of Finnish-Carelian Lament singing. For the past 9 years Rounakari has been the fiddler of folk-metal band Korpiklaani. He is also known as a Shaman-violinist thanks to his solo performance. He is a co-founder of a finnish theatre group Ruska-Ensemble and its musical director. He has done field-work among the Khanty people in Siberia.

Furhermore, Tuomas is soon about to announce a crowdfunding for the new Tuomas Rounakari solo album, coming out in Spring 2022.

While waiting for it have a look at the Online concert from Kaustinen Folk Music Festival 2020. Shamanviolin at Pauanne is a full-length online concert produced by the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival 2020. The concert was filmed at the magical Pauanne where a community of folk musicians and folk healers used to live in the 1980’s. All buildings are fully hand made with many mythological decorations. The place has unfortunately decayed without much needed preservation. This Shamanviolin concert ends with lament melodies in a burnt down sauna. The magic and unique beauty of this place is still strong. A perfect environment for my music.

KRIS BARRAS BAND Release Video ‘My Parade’ from Upcoming Album

KRIS BARRAS BAND will release their new album “Death Valley Paradise” on March 4th 2022 via Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group. Today the band unleashes a new video ‘My Parade’ from the album, watch it below.

“This is my parade, fall into line or get out of my way” My Parade.

Also watch the video for “Dead Horses”

You can also pre-order the album here http://smarturl.it/KBB

Produced by Dan Weller (Enter Shikari, Bury Tomorrow, SiKth) and recorded at VADA Studios in Alcester, they return heavier, darker, more introspective but enormous at the same time. Barras decided to remove all shackles and began collaborating with songwriters, such as the heavyweights; Jonny Andrews (Three Days Grace, Fozzy), Bob Marlette (Alice Cooper, Airbourne, Rob Zombie), Blair Daly (Halestorm, Black Stone Cherry) and Zac Maloy (Shinedown, Tyler Bryant).

Death Valley Paradise started life as a song before it was dissected and spread across the album. Death Valley is a place of extremes, where living things are said to not be able to survive. “To survive and thrive in those circumstances and find your paradise in it. For me, it sums up the journey I’ve been through. As a musician, you were put into a place where it was hard to survive, and you had to do different things to keep it moving.”

For 18 months the world stood still and we realised that we didn’t have control of ourselves anymore. “I had some really dark times. I didn’t want to get out of bed. I didn’t want to do anything. It was really tough,” Barras says. “I’ve thrown everything at this. It was tough not knowing if I’d ever be able to do this again. What am I going to do with my life? I’ve gone all-in. If I’m not this, who am I?” he says

For the ex-MMA/cage fighter, there was only one way out, to re-focus. “Once Covid hit, it was a case of ‘anything goes’, and I don’t give a fuck anymore,” he says with no preconceived plan for the album.

Early 2020 was uncharted waters for all of us. “At first we thought, three weeks and it’s over,” he says. “I went through a cycle. At first, I tried to take it positively and then reality set in. I’ve been fortunate in my life in that I’ve been sad, but never suffered from anything that I would count as depression until last year.”

One of the shining lights of the period was co-writing. “It was a bit of a game-changer”, he enthuses. Seeds of the songs had already been sewn in late 2019. “There were a few riffs we were playing around with on tour, and a lot of those early songs were heavy. I sat down with the label and said the stuff I’m writing is heavier, and they were completely supportive. “In my teens, I was pretty much only listening to Hard Rock and Metal so it feels completely natural and free. More than ever, this album is me on an LP. I do think I’ve gone a little bit darker and deeper on it. Writing songs about topics I haven’t done before.”

The albums high voltage calling card is “My Parade” – the bands’ protest song. “It says this is my parade, but it’s collective, it’s our parade,” Barras says. “This is my life, and this is how I’m gonna live it and if you don’t like it. Fuck off.” Album opener and first single, “Dead Horses,” shakes the foundations delving into broken relationships, which steamrolls into the crushing “Long Gone,” a tale of letting go.

They take an introspective look on “These Voices.” “It’s that inner voice that is always telling you that you can’t do things and dragging you down,” he says. “For me, it’s been quite prevalent in my life over the past year.” They submerge themselves in the melancholic and haunting “Wake Me When It’s Over” whilst venturing into the chaotic darkness documenting his mental health struggles on the thundering finale, “Chaos.”

The band features a new rhythm section of Billy Hammett (Drums) and Kelpie Mackenzie (Bass) along with Kris Barras (Lead Vocals/Guitar) and Josiah J. Manning (Rhythm Guitars/ Vocals). “The band on this album are a big part of how it sounds. When we get in a room and jam, everything just comes out heavier and more angsty,” he says.

They are set for an incredible 12 months ahead; They’ve just finished a sold-out UK tour with Kentucky’s favourite sons Black Stone Cherry, culminating with a show at the world-famous Royal Albert Hall. Their biggest headline tour to date begins in March 2022, followed by playing the iconic Wembley Arena in support of Thunder.

Track list

  1. Dead Horses
  2. Long Gone
  3. My Parade
  4. These Voices
  5. Who Needs Enemies
  6. Devil You Know
  7. Wake Me When It’s Over
  8. Hostage
  9. Cigarettes and Gasoline
  10. Bury Me
  11. Chaos

AEPHANEMER Release Stunning New Video ‘Antigone’ From Upcoming Album

Toulouse-based symphonic melodic death metal powerhouse AEPHANEMER is currently gearing up for the release of their third and thunderous full-length studio album, entitled A Dream Of Wilderness. The record will be out on November 19, 2021 via Napalm Records.

Starting out as an unbelievably successful DIY ride that suddenly turned towards international acclaim, the indisputable AEPHANEMER is one of the most exciting melodic death metal sensations of the modern age. Fast-paced metal fronted by the guttural growls and fierce screams of extraordinary vocalist Marion Bascoul meet flickering twin leads, elements of Scandinavian death metal, Slavic traditional music and epic synths. If their latest, much-acclaimed Prokopton was a noteworthy, impressive sophomore album from one of Europe’s best up and coming melodic death metal bands yet, A Dream Of Wilderness sees the French four-piece doubling down on its songwriting skills: Faster, tighter and heavier, AEPHANEMER’s upcoming album unleashes an anthemic adventure of brutally fast riffage and epic melodies!

After the French four-piece just recently shared a first appetizer and single, the rousing track “Panta Rhei”, today they’ve unleashed another killer song alongside a video clip! “Antigone” represents a dark and gloomier yet no less powerful side of the band – adding to the diverse blend that is A Dream Of Wilderness. Watch AEPHANEMER perform in the breathtaking setting of “Les Lapidiales”, an abandoned quarry in France transformed into a magical place by talented sculptors, via their new video now streaming here:

Guitarist Martin Hamiche comments:

“We’re happy to share with you our new song and video: Antigone! It is extracted from our new album, A Dream of Wilderness, to be released on November 19, 2021 through Napalm Records. With this album, we reinforced the classical influence and symphonic component of our sound and we feel this song embodies that very well. We hope you will enjoy it!”

AEPHANEMER doesn’t fear boundaries. Their new album delivers a wide metal range that represents a dark and gloomier yet no less powerful side of the band, while otherworldly dimensions of blast beats, furious riffage and heavy, razor-sharp death metal anthems will have you headbanging as fast as you can. Especially in this day and age of staying “true” and limited within a sound and scene, A Dream Of Wilderness is a welcome diversion and a brave record artfully blending brutally fast symphonic death and raw melodic metal into a multi-faceted epic!

The record was mixed by Dan Swanö at Unisound AB, and mastered by Mika Jussila at the Finnvox Studios. A Dream Of Wilderness will be available in LP Gatefold, CD and Digital formats. Pre-order your copy HERE!

Track list:

  1. Land of Hope
  2. Antigone
  3. Of Volition
  4. Le Radeau de La Méduse
  5. Roots and Leaves
  6. Vague à l’âme
  7. Strider
  8. Panta Rhei
  9. A Dream of Wilderness
  10. Old French Song (Bonus Track)
  11. Le Radeau de La Méduse (French Version – Bonus Track)
