REV JONES Releases New Solo Album “In The Key of Z”, Out October 1st

REV JONES announces his new solo album “In The Key of Z” to be released worldwide on Dark Star Records on October 1st. Physical pre-orders are underway and digital pre-orders being on September 24th.

Pre-order the physical release at https://smarturl.it/Revjones

“If I had my way, I’d probably put a bass solo on every song,” Rev Jones says of In The Key Of Z, “but that’s not what this album is about. I want people to hear it and be surprised.” For Jones – the bassist/vocalist famed for his two-handed tapping style and over-the-neck fingering technique whom BassPlayer.com says “has infused some of the biggest names in hard rock with his incredible energy and musicality” – In The Key Of Z on Dark Star Records delivers an always- surprising salvo of the crushing riffs, smart songwriting, twisted sense of humor and face-melting, ass-kicking sonic boom that is Rev Jones.

“Once again my partner in crime Rev Jones proves he is different from the rest … not only in his writing and bass play, but his off the hook vocals. Crazy great range, but most of all, his insanely different melody lines that push the envelope of what you can get away with in a great song. Playing drums on this is like breathing air for me and fits like a glove …. Hopefully a boxing glove.” — Jeff Martin, Drummer

“We are very excited to have a musician like Rev Jones of such a high caliber on the Dark Star Records roster, who has performed and recorded with a ton of platinum selling artists and is just such an amazing bass player and singer” — Jeffrey A. Swanson / President / Dark Star Records

In addition to producing In The Key Of Z – the follow-up to his 2018 solo debut Bakwash – at his home studio in Oklahoma and writing or co-writing all 12 tracks, Jones also played bass, guitar, double bass, keyboards, mandolin, ukulele and tambourine. The songs themselves represent Rev’s distinctive takes on thrash and metal, as well as a few unexpected yet way-cool forays into country and folk. “Most performers are trying to be too serious or cautious,” says the skull-tatted wildman, who’s recorded and toured with Steelheart, Leslie West & Mountain, Michael Schenker Group, Fuel, Paul Gilbert, George Lynch and his own Rev Jones Band among many others. “But I’ve never allowed myself to be pigeonholed as a performer. My favorite album of all time is still Night at the Opera by Queen. Great music should always sound fearless.”

And whether it’s the smart-ass ferocity of “Lollygaggin’” (based on a favorite line of dialogue from Blazing Saddles) or the monster-riff veracity of the title track, every cut on In The Key Of Z – mixed by Shawn Berman, known for his work with Guns N’ Roses, Danzig and George Thorogood & The Destroyers – rocks with the creative confidence of a 30+ year musician still finding joy in plugging in, turning up and blasting off in any direction he pleases. “It’s all rock as far as I’m concerned,” Rev says. “Even where the songs have a folk or country feel, the guitars are heavy. The bass, mandolin and ukulele feel heavy, too. The goal was for it all to sound to like me.”

When it came to individual guitar solos, Rev reached out to famous friends that include Uros Raskovski (Steelheart), Ira Black (Metal Church, Lizzy Borden), Jack Frost (Savatage), Russ Parish (Steel Panther), Bill Leverty (Firehouse), Jim Suhler (Monkey Beat), Robby Lochner (Fight, Jack Russell’s Great White), Rowan Robertson (Dio, Bang Tango), Paige Harwell (Reckless) and Scott McClellan (Tony Martin), as well Michael T. Ross (Lita Ford, Hardline) on keyboards and Jeff Martin (Dokken, Racer X) on drums. “I matched the players with the songs on paper,” Jones says, “then picked up the phone and started making calls.”

For Rev Jones and his fans, the album stands as an in-your-face ode to artistic integrity, musical intensity and a natural instinct for what makes rock both dangerous and fun. “For me, this project is one big realization,” Rev says of In The Key Of Z. “You can write these cool riffs. You can embrace different styles of music. You can invite your friends to be a part of it. And if you stay true to yourself and play what’s good, people will respond.”

REV has recorded with:
Steelheart, Michael Schenker Group, Leslie West, Black Symphony, Paul Gilbert, Jeff Martin, James Kottak, George Lynch, Kottak, Steve Moore (drummer at wrong gig), Forte, Jack Frost, Rev Jones Band, China Blue, Siva Addiction, Blasted To Static, Scott Mcclellan, Legioned Marcher. He has also recorded sessions with award winning producers Jim Gaines, David Prater, and Mike Goldberg.

VILDHJARTA Release New Single ‘Penny Royal Poison’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on September 21, 2021

After releasing ”när de du älskar kommer tillbaka från de döda”, “Kaos2” and “Toxin” earlier this year VILDHJARTA announces “Penny Royal Poison” the next release of their much anticipated new studio album, “måsstaden under vatten”, which will be out October 15th, 2021.

With a decade between releases, VILDHJARTA  remain as inscrutable and as close to anonymity as a band can be.  Their down-tuned, staccato riffs and pulverizing grooves are the sound of music stripped to its essence. Yet, the Swedish collective’s long-awaited album, “måsstaden under vatten”, is far more than a recitation of djent values.  Clocking in at 80 minutes, it thematically picks up where the dark Swedish fable of 2011’s “Måsstaden” left off and delivers on the promise that record hinted at. Says the band: “Art happens when art happens.”

Since dropping a minute of new live music in 2016, the band’s focus has almost entirely been on the new album with drummer and now noted producer, Buster Odeholm (also known for his work with Born of Osiris, Shadow of Intent and drumming with Humanity’s Last Breath amongst others) heavily involved in the production, mixing and mastering of the music. Visual artist Rickard Westman, who did art for VILDHJARTA ‘s debut as well as their “Thousands of Evils”-EP in 2013 has also returned to the equation to reprise his disturbing visual iconography that continues to tell a tale of a mythical, dark world far away from ours.

The album is available in various formats, preorders can be found HERE!

Greek Heavy Rockers CELLAR STONE Release Cover Version of DEEP PURPLE’s ‘Burn’, Out October 1st

Greek heavy rockers CELLAR STONE will release their cover version of DEEP PURPLE‘s classic ‘Burn‘, coming out October 1st via ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records! Furthermore the band has revealed the artwork of the single.

Guitarist George Maroulees comments:
“…Deep Purple has influenced as a band a lot. Especially the MKIII era which introduced the line up with David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes, impact us a lot. So we pay tribute, doing it in our way, to one of the best songs ever written in the history of rock …. BURN!”

ROAR adds about the origins of ‘Burn’:
“It was released on the album of the same name in 1974, and was the first song by the Mark III lineup. Written by David Coverdale, Richie Blackmore, Jon Lord and Ian Paice. The song remained the band’s concert opener for the next two years, taking over from “Highway Star”. It opened Deep Purple’s set on the California Jam two months after its release, on 6 April 1974.”

Pre-save ‘Burn’ single here: https://bfan.link/burn-1

Recorded, mixed & Mastered by Nick Papadopoulos at Soundflakes Studios in Athens, Greece
Artwork by Nick “Neville” Neochoritis.

Earlier the band revealed that the band’s upcoming, yet-untitled, second album was mixed by Mr. Jordan Westfall (Black Stone Cherry) at Monocle Studios in Kentucky, USA. The album also features Chris Robertson (singer-guitarist Black Stone Cherry). The final result is something fresh, heavy and intensely melodic.Fourteen songs of pure heavy rock with great songwriting and an over the top production. If you love strong melodies, big choruses and guitar riffing, Cellar Stone won’t disappoint. Just dive in, the album is essential listening. More information TBA.

Influenced by the rock & metal giants of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, such as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, UFO, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Alice In Chains, as well as the bands of today like Black Stone Cherry, Shinedown, Mastodon and Alter Bridge, CELLAR STONE are making their own statement in a characteristic way. Choruses that stick, a pandemonium of guitar harmonies and riffs and a rhythm section that grabs at you, the band is setting the scene and they won’t go unnoticed. Cellar Stone members have toured next to several famous acts such as UFO, Uriah Heep, Black Star Riders, Candlemass and Avatarium. In May 2020, the band released their debut album “One Fine Day” independently, receiving enthusiastic reviews by many highly esteemed magazines and websites (Powerplay UK 9/10 – Metal Temple US 9/10 – Hellfire Magazin DE 8,5/10 – Legacy DE 12/15 – Bleeding4Metal DE 8/10 ) while it was voted as 32nd best Hard Rock album of the year by Denim & Leather US.
