Detroit Hardcore Punk Thrashers SNAFU Unleash ‘Closed Casket Habits’ Video

Detroit hardcore punk thrashers SNAFU (Situation Normal All Fucked Up) have unleashed their brand new video for ‘Closed Casket Habits’. The battering track comes by way of their long-anticipated new full-length “Exile//Banishment”, set for release via Housecore Records in North America October 15th!

Tracked and produced by Philip “Landphil” Hall (MUNICIPAL WASTE, CANNABIS CORPSE, IRON REAGAN) and twin brother Josh “Hallhammer” Hall (CANNABIS CORPSE) at Blaze Of Torment Studios in Richmond, Virginia, mixed by Adam Shepard, and mastered by Joel Grind (TOXIC HOLOCAUST), “Exile//Banishment” is the band’s heaviest, darkest, and angriest affair yet focusing on personal frustrations and the hopeless future of humanity.

Offers the band of their latest single, “Manic depressive thoughts come to life in ‘Closed Casket Habits.’ Alot of us live with a dark shadowy figure lurking in our wake, trying to lead us down to the darkest depths of our own mind, planting a worm in our ear, whispering reminders of failure and self doubt, begging us to descend down to the point of no return. Studies show that one in four people suffer from suicidal thoughts… you are not alone.“

View SNAFU’s ‘Closed Casket Habits’ at THIS LOCATION.

“Exile//Banishment”, which features artwork by Vladimir Chebakov, will be released on CD, vinyl, and digital formats through Housecore Records HERE. Find digital preorder options at THIS LOCATION.

SNAFU has been cracking skulls in some incarnation or another since 2006. Spawned from the ruins of Detroit, Michigan, the band independently released their debut full length, “Fear The Future”, in 2013 after years of false starts. The songs bore a raw punk expression of raging cynicism and the destructive nature of mankind. Further honing their artistry, 2015’s “Present Day Plague” LP stayed true to their aggressive raw punk roots while working in elements of thrash and grind.

Since then, the four-piece has established a reputation for delivering some of the fiercest live performances in the country. Their sound — a fusion of everything from MUNICIPAL WASTE and TOXIC HOLOCAUST to NEGATIVE APPROACH and CRO-MAGS — has quickly come to resonate with audiences globally, while their blackened thrash approach calls to mind early SLAYER and SEPULTURA.

The masters of melodic-hardcore are finally back! Today US-hardcore band IGNITE from Orange County, CA released their brand-new digital EP “Anti-Complicity Anthem” on all digital platforms. Including the incredible title track as well as the exclusive B-side “Turn XXI” that will be only available on this EP the band makes an impressive comeback.

On top of that IGNITE also deliver a powerful performance clip for “ANTI-COMPLICITY ANTHEM”. Listen to the EP or find the premiere link HERE

Craig Anderson comments on the new video:

“Filming the video for Anti-Complicity Anthem gave us just a small taste of how fun it is going to be to play that song live and in front of people. It´s been a while since any of us have played music in front of a crowd and we can´t wait to get back on the road.”

Furthermore, IGNITE finally announces after a lot of speculations their new vocalist. Eli Santana (Holy Grail) takes over the duties as the bands new singer and is currently recording a new album with the band.

Brett Rasmussen quotes:

“The energy and positivity that Eli brought to the recording studio was contagious! It was an absolute breath of fresh air for all of us and reminded me of the early days of Ignite. I really can´t wait to take these songs on tour.”

Gary Holt: “The New Exodus Album Sounds Like the Sh*t Show That was 2020”

Jimmy Kay from Canada’s The Metal Voice recently spoke to Exodus’ Guitarist Gary Holt about the bands upcoming Studio album  “Persona Non Grata”,  which will be released on November 19, 2021 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Holt also spoke about the band’s Legacy, Metallica early days and gave an update on Slayer.

Tell us what this new album “Persona Non Grata” sound like
“The album to me sounds like 2020. It’s the musical equivalent to the shit show that last year was. Some of the stuff I was writing as I am looking at the TV watching the world burn, of course that had an effect on what I was putting down on paper.  The song The Years of Death and Dying, Tom (Hunting) wrote as an ode to all the people we lost including a lot of close friends, on top of  that a loss of our way of life, jobs and homes that were lost, not just all pandemic related. It was a bad year and we hope this album is something positive that comes out of it.  This album has got some of the catchiest choruses we have ever come up with. When you can make something that super heavy and sing along to it I think you kind of accomplished something. Zetro also learned a couple of new tricks (death growls) in the past he didn’t think it was in his wheelhouse but he learned that he could do it quite well. Some of the songs demanded it.”

When you first saw Metallica did you think they were going to be as big as they are today
“I thought they were great, we saw like a kindred spirit. We were both playing thrash metal, we didn’t know at the time another band did, it was kind of like looking into a mirror. No one knew they would be this big and anybody who says they did is a liar. They were crushing killer thrash made by guys like us, pimply faced kids with a total lack of social skills. No one knew James (Hetfield) would become the singer he did.  No one knew they would write stuff like ‘Nothing Else Matters’. No one knew they would write ‘Sanitarium’. It wasn’t until  Master of Puppets that I thought  this band is going to do something massiv, cause I still consider ‘Master Of Puppets’  the greatest metal album ever made.”

Any updates on Slayer, perhaps a one off show or music?
“No, Slayer is done, enjoy the memories, I know I do.”

“Persona Non Grata” is the follow-up to 2014’s “Blood In Blood Out”. “Persona Non Grata” was recorded at a studio in Lake Almanor, California and was engineered by Steve Lagudi and EXODUS. It was produced by EXODUS and was mixed by Andy Sneap.

THE DAMN TRUTH Release ‘Tomorrow’ Single + Official Music Video

THE DAMN TRUTH – the critically acclaimed Montreal-based four-piece rock band, have released “Tomorrow”– an energetic, empowering, adrenalin-pumping, anthemic single. The single is accompanied with a spectacular, cutting-edge music video directed by Ariel Levesque and Ben Gelfand at I/O Studio in Montreal.

The video is a visual journey through the 60s, 70s, and 90s musical eras; all of which are major influences on the band. The music video premiered on YouTube yesterday, Friday September 17th.

Produced by legendary record producer Bob Rock (Metallica, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, The Cult, Bryan Adams), “Tomorrow” is the second single taken from the band’s third studio album“Now or Nowhere.”

The single follows hot on the heels of the band’s previous single “This Is Who We Are Now”that attracted heavy airplay on UK radio including Planet Rock. The single and album are available from www.Linktr.ee/thedamntruth.

“Working with the I/O team on the filming of this video was once again a mind-altering experience, says The Damn Truth’s lead singer and guitarist Lee-La Baum. “This time around, instead of turning us into Cirque de Soleil acrobats, we time travelled to some of our favourite musical eras. And what a trip it was!”

Yes, the guys really did shave off their facial hair for the 60s sequence! They had to wait till all the other filming sequences were shot before they shaved for the black and white retro scenes, which they clearly really enjoyed having fun with, especially TDT’s drummer Dave Traina.

“With a reputation like ours; cleaning up was a challenge,” reflects Dave. “My upper lip hadn’t seen the light of day in over a decade.”

Bassist PY Letellier, as always, had the most fun, on and off set, “I really enjoyed drinking cold gin throughout the 60s, 70s and 90s!!”

There is no mistaking the arena-rock guitar that introduces the sing-along chorus of “Tomorrow” It’s the underlying sentiment that a lot of people are feeling globally right now.

“I made a conscious effort to forget the past, and said, ‘F*** you’ to the future and focus on now,” says TDT’s lead guitarist, Tom Shemer.

The Damn Truthembark on a 13-date UK tour kicking off at the York Grand Opera House on February 10th and finishing at Southampton 1865 on February 25th.

In addition to the Damn Truth supporting King King on various dates in February 2022, the band will also headline their own shows including Leek Foxlowe Arts (Feb 13), Leeds Lending Room (Feb 15), Bristol Exchange (Feb 16), and Southampton 1865 (Feb 25).

Tickets are available from www.thegigcartel.com/Artists-profiles/The-Damn-Truth.htm.

The tour follows the May 7th release of band’s third studio album “Now or Nowhere” released by Spectra Musique/Sony Music. The album is available from www.thedamntruth.com.

The first single from the album, “This Is Who We Are Now,”took flight in the UK with 12 weeks of airplay on Planet Rock and a spot play on BBC Radio 2’s Rock Show with Johnnie Walker.  The single also won Classic Rock’s Tracks of the Week an unprecedented two times.

The band have also been championed by the British music press with extensive magazine coverage in Classic Rock, Blues Matters, Guitarist, Powerplay, Guitar Techniques, Record Collector, Fireworks, Blues in Britain, Hard Rock Hell, MNPR and R’N’R Magazine.

“We’re looking forward to touring the UK,” says lead singer and guitarist, Lee-la Baum. “Last time we played the UK was a one-night banger in London that left us wanting for more. We cannot wait to come back and hit the road in the UK.”

THE LURKING FEAR Announce Sophomore Album “Death, Madness, Horror, Decay”; Launch New single + Video ‘Cosmic Macabre’

THE LURKING FEAR, the old-school Death Metal group from Sweden featuring members of At The Gates, Disfear, God Macabre, Skitsystem, Tormented and The Haunted in their illustrious line-up, finally return with their anxiously awaited sophomore album, “Death, Madness, Horror, Decay”, to be released worldwide on November 19th , 2021 via Century Media Records.

Vocalist Tomas Lindberg Redant comments about “Death, Madness, Horror, Decay” as follows:

“ With our second album we really wanted to produce a more coherent listening experience. The first one was a blast to put together, and I do love that it is dynamic, but we talked a lot about it and this time around we wanted the record to have more of a unified sound, so to say…We wanted it to sound like a band with their own identity. Therefor the writing sessions were more of a unified effort this time around, and all the writers in the band are part of more songs. The album is still dynamic, as it has both intense, faster “rippers” and a few more heavy moments, but the overall sound is more convincing, to my ears.

I also wanted to evolve the lyrical concept further. Of course, there is still tons of Lovecraft influence throughout the album, but I also tampered with some more current horror writers and philosophers. I guess it is not a coincidence, but this album feels like the ugly stepchild of the new At The Gates album, lyrically. I delved into the ideas conveyed by thinkers like Ligotti and Thacker and added an extra layer of cosmic horror to the already Lovecraftian universe of The Lurking Fear . Still the same basic ideas, but just more developed, and philosophical, I guess you could say.

Also, this time around, we talked more with our producer, Per Stålberg, before, so he and us were on the same page about which kind of album we wanted to make. The new album is more of everything, and we feel that the band finally is reaching its full potential. Enjoy!”

The first single for The Lurking Fear’s upcoming album is being released today, so check out “Cosmic Macabre” in a video produced by Max Ljungberg here:

Tomas Lindberg Redant commented about the track as follows: “’Cosmic Macabre’ was one of the first tracks to be finalized for the new album. It is an old school Swedish death metal scorcher, but has some more quirky stuff thrown in for good measure. The lyrics deal with what lurks beyond the limits of the human comprehension. We felt it was a good first representation of the album as it contains a lot of the different elements of the record in one song. Let the primal darkness tear you apart!”

“Death, Madness, Horror, Decay” follows up The Lurking Fear’s acclaimed debut album “Out Of The Voiceless Grave” (2017) and was recorded at Welfare Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden with Per Stålberg and Kalle Lilja. The album features epic artwork (To be seen above!) once again conceived by Stefan Thanneur, who already worked on The Lurking Fear’s debut album, and also includes a special guest appearance by Chris Reifert (Autopsy, ex Death) on vocals for the track “Kaleidoscopic Mutations”. Here is the album’s tracklisting:

The Lurking Fear – “Death, Madness, Horror, Decay”:

  1. Abyssal Slime
  2. Death Reborn
  3. Cosmic Macabre
  4. Funeral Abyss
  5. Death, Madness, Horror, Decay

  7. In A Thousand Horrors Crowned
  8. Kaleidoscopic Mutations
  9. Ageless Evil
  10. One In Flesh

The album’s limited first-pressing Digipak CD edition will come two very special cover versions as bonus tracks: “The Curse”, originally by Slaughter and “Seance”, originally by Possessed. “Death, Madness, Horror, Decay” will of course also be available as LP on 180g black vinyl with a poster.

Tornado on “Midnight Waylay” album: “Midnight Waylay depicts a ‘taking it easy in the daytime, turning into a beast at night’ kind of lifestyle. Just like a hunter strikes from the shadows, ruthless and silent, these songs can without warning rock your world. As a concept the album Midnight Waylay is best appreciated when served whole, but each song has its own character and works well independently. Find your own adventure, let yourself loose!”

Kimmo Kuusniemi, Godfather of Finnish heavy metal, on Gentle Savage’s debut album “Midnight Waylay”: “Listening to Gentle Savage reminds me of Deep Purple! That’s not bad at all!”

Tornado stated on the album coverart:
“TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY
Isn’t it strange that when you get something really big done you are at the same time relieved and a bit confused?! That’s how it feels like right now.
The cover art was created by our friend, graphic art wizard Vin Valentino. Vin and vocalist Tornado created the Midnight Waylay world based on Tornado’s visions of a Rock Band descending down to earth using a ‘stairway to heaven’. That’s Tornado’s way of showing his gratitude to the old great ones who showed the Rock’n Roll way for latter generations to roll. “
