Philadelphia’s New Wave of Traditional American Heavy Metal band, CORNERS OF SANCTUARY (COS), roll out a brand new EP titled “Blood and Steel: Volume One,” a follow-up to their critically acclaimed album, “Heroes Never Die,” released last year via RFL Records (US). “Blood and Steel: Volume One” is the first of a two part EP series which takes the band to a grittier, even darker musical landscape to showcase their original modern-classic Heavy Metal sound and style. Produced by COS founder, primary songwriter and guitarist Mick Michaels and mastered by Blood Feast guitarist and studio owner and engineer, CJ Scioscia (who has worked with Ross the Boss and Mike LePond of Symphony X). “Blood and Steel: Volume One” offers a new take on the band’s signature sound and style. Maintaining their traditionally inspired riffing and arrangements, this release delivers an ongoing battery of classically fueled thump and drive from the collective efforts of members: Bassist James Pera, Drummer Mad T, Guitarist Mick Michaels and Vocalist Frankie Cross.

Corners of Sanctuary have traveled throughout the United States performing at such legendary venues including the Whisky A Go-Go and the Rainbow on L.A.’s Sunset Strip, Philly’s Trocadero Theater, New England’s The Met, Anaheim’s World Famous Doll Hut, New York’s Trash Bar and Chicago’s Wire to name a few. The band has shared the stage with a myriad artists and bands including UDO, Stryper, Bulletboys, Saxon, Grim Reaper, Saving Abel, Janet Gardner, Tantric, Butcher Babies, Sponge, Tim “Ripper” Owens, Anvil, Jackie Chambers of Girlschool, Joey Belladonna of Anthrax, the Iron Maidens and Britny Fox, among many others. COS has also toured overseas and performed throughout the United Kingdom, Germany and Belgium. They have appeared in numerous online and print magazines, on dozens of internet and terrestrial radio stations, in various countries and continents and is currently in regular rotation on countless radio stations around the world.

Corners of Sanctuary has struck a major chord with headbangers worldwide who thrive and desire the classic sound of Heavy Metal for the modern age. Because of their hard work and determination, the band has partnerships with several companies which include endorsements from GHS Strings, Coffin Cases, Samsun Cymbals, Sinister Guitar Picks, The Sweet Spots, Sledgepad Innovations,  CooperGroove Percussion, George L’s Guitar Cables and Fireplant Guitars. In addition to clothing and accessories deals with Vagabond Entertainment Group, Vagabond Shwag and Apparel and Metal Babe Mayhem.

Quotes from the Corners of Sanctuary:

“We have always enjoyed releasing EPs…they are an opportunity to explore and experiment with new ideas and directions for us; giving ourselves license to work with new sounds and writing styles. This Blood and Steel EP series serves as a tribute to two dear friends and one time band mates who had recently passed. We wanted to create something that would honor who they were and what they accomplished, especially as artists.  Some of the tracks that will be featured on both volume one and volume two are pieces that they were involved in at one time or another. Working with several of these tracks have been challenging on an emotional level but in the end it has been worth the effort.”  – Mick Michaels – Guitarist of Corners of Sanctuary

“I am very excited with this new material as we continue to explore what is the Corners of Sanctuary sound. Additionally, we get to honor two former band mates of Mick and James. I think that brings a deeper emotional touch to the music and overall EP.”  – Mad T – Drummer of Corners of Sanctuary

“I am excited and proud of the resilience of the core of this band.   We faced many challenges last year.   In fact the world has.   We did not hide or throw in the towel. We persevered and came out with our best material yet.”  – James Pera – Bassist of Corners of Sanctuary

Polish HORE Unleash Second Song “Pieśń ma była już w grobie” From Debut Album

HORE is a relatively new music project created in 2018. The musicians, although experienced and from well-known bands, decided not to provide any personal details.

For the last three years, the musicians were slowly preparing their debut material. Now, it’s time to reveal that the record, lasting over 30 minutes, is an amalgamation of post-black metal, avant-garde jazz, and film music. Inspired by old folk tales and writings of Słowacki, Mickiewicz, Broniewski, and Goethe, the album “Siostry Wiedźmy” (eng. “Sisters of the Witch“) is an original take on the subject.

HORE‘s music is a rollercoaster of emotions. A mix of anxiety and idyll. Firmly rooted in the old Polish school of black metal, the band’s debut album corresponds with the works of Morowe, Furia, Odraza or KAT.

The album will release as an 8-panel digipak in a bundle with a T-shirt and will be available on most streaming platforms. The album will premiere on May 14, 2021. Pre-orders: https://store.witchinghour.pl/

Listen to BORNHOLM’s Primaeval Pantheons in full HERE:

BORNHOLM singer and guitarist Sahsnot about signing to Napalm Records:
“The time has come to bring you some great news. We spent the last two years working harder than ever. In the meantime, the world changed completely, but it had no influence on us at all. We began to work on our next record – we have the toughest, longest and most unforgettable work period behind us. As a result, we have signed with Napalm Records, currently one of the best and strongest record labels. It means huge progress for us and we hope the new record will live up to its hopes. We are really grateful for them as they put their trust in the record and the band. A new era begins in our lives and I think we’ve found our place.”

VAN CANTO Reveal New Single + Video For Amon Amarth Cover “Raise Your Horns”

The world’s most exciting acapella metal masters VAN CANTO return with their energetic and unique Rakkatakka-power and are set to release their highly anticipated, inimitable new offering, To The Power Of Eight, on June 4, 2021 via Napalm Records. VAN CANTO are well-known for their catchy tunes and sophisticated interpretations of various scene classics and follow their path with record number eight as well, as the album triumphs with four red-hot cover versions and eight own, rousing band anthems!

Today those thundering voices unleash their very own and remarkable take on hammering “Raise Your Horns” by Swedish Vikings Amon Amarth. VAN CANTO took the well-known favorite and turned it into their own unique version, featuring band trademarks without losing sight of the actual core of the track. Horns up!

VAN CANTO on the song:
“‘Raise Your Horns’ is a very special cover for us. For the first time VAN CANTO tackled a song where the lead vocals are consistently in the lowest growl register. Thanks to the constellation of having three lead singers, Hagen could spread out in the lead, while Inga can set high, almost orchestral accents and Sly leads the choir together with Jan. For the first time in a while it’s also a song where a “real” riff sets the direction, so that the Rakkatakka and bass singers are extremely busy as well. A great composition by Amon Amarth, that we gladly pay homage to.”

Watch the official video for “Raise Your Horns” HERE:

To The Power Of Eight marks another milestone in the band’s impressive career and presents VAN CANTO as a coherent entity stronger than ever! Starting out with their first full-length, A Storm To Come (2006), the unstoppable force set the stage for their very own genre and never failed in surprising their fans and beyond through the time being, while showcasing that metal can be heavy as hell without any riffage. With their previous full length, Trust in Rust (2018), the German rarity reworked its lineup, consisting of seven members since then. For To The Power Of Eight, the unit once again joined forces with Philip Dennis “Sly” Schunke, who had been the lead singer on their first six studio records. Sly joins lead vocalists Inga Scharf and Hagen Hirschmann on all twelve flawless tracks as third vocalist and special guest. It’s clear that this peerless piece of music was written with three voices in mind: To The Power Of Eight embodies a special sense of common bond and presents VAN CANTO in undeniable peak form!

VAN CANTO on the new album:
“Being able to present an album after 15 years of band history, where three lead singers share the microphone hand in hand, makes us incredibly proud. Due to the pandemic situation we had a lot of time to work on To The Power Of Eight and put all our heart and soul into the compositions, the arrangements and the production. Originally, we planned to have Sly as guest vocalist for one song – but it turned out to be twelve in total in the end. If someone would ask for one record to present VAN CANTO in the most suitable way, we would choose To The Power Of Eight.”

Pre-order the new album, To The Power Of Eight, NOW

From their own original speed driven tracks, like flaring “Dead By The Night”, raise-your-fist animated “Heads Up High” or mid-tempo, heart-warming “Turn Back Time”, to anthemic heavy metal covers such as Iron Maiden’s “Run To The Hills” or AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck”, VAN CANTO always manages to easily serve their own unique take with every output. On the one hand, To The Power Of Eight reflects a well experienced collective that has gathered several top 50 entries on the German album charts and played numerous shows around the globe and festivals like 70k Tons Of Metal, Wacken and Masters of Rock. But at the same time, it presents these energetic visionaries of acapella metal, who are far from resting on what they’ve achieved so far.

To The Power Of Eight tracklist:
1. To the Power of Eight
2. Dead by the Night
3. Faith Focus Finish
4. Falling Down
5. Heads Up High
6. Raise Your Horns
7. Turn Back Time
8. Run to the Hills
9. Hardrock Padlock
10. Thunderstruck
11. From the End
12. I Want It All

After causing waves of excitement with the release of their latest single “Defence Of Moscow”, SABATON unleash the single’s official music video today.

Watch the video below.

Listen to the song here: https://music.sabaton.net/DefenceOfMoscow

“Defence Of Moscow” is a cover from Russian superstar Radio Tapok. It follows last year’s successful collaboration between SABATON and Radio Tapok on the live version of ‘The Attack Of The Dead Men’.

Covering the song in English and giving the song their unique SABATON style, the band released another epic masterpiece that once again highlights an important turning point in European war history.

In order to give ‘Defence Of Moscow’ the salute it deserves, SABATON created an extraordinary and strictly limited 7” vinyl in Red with a beautifully etched B-side. This rarity was only available for pre-order between May 7 and May 9 and will be officially released on July 9.

SABATON‘s Pär Sundström comments: “May 9 is celebrated as V-Day in Russia, the day to commemorate the victory over the Nazis in WW2.
This year we participate in the memory of this event by releasing a song dedicated to the brave men who fought in the battle of Moscow.
This track was originally written in Russian by our friend Radio Tapok. It’s a very strong song and we thought it made sense that Sabaton should give it a try to make a honourable cover of this song.”
In regards of the video, he adds: “We are excited to also share the music video with you which shows the story of the Battle of Moscow in 1941.”

The release of the single has been thus far extremely successful with SABATON leaving another impactful mark in the music scene.
