Finnish power metal band METAL DE FACTO‘s new 5-track EP titled ”Legionnaires’ Oaths”, celebrates the 1 year anniversary of their debut album ’Imperium Romanum’, which was also released as a limited vinyl pressing in January as a part of the celebrations. The EP contains the fourth and final single for the album ’Legionnaires’ Oath’, as well as an acoustic version, which is accompanied by a brand new music video filmed at the legendary Beaver Bar in Helsinki.

”The bar is very well known to most metalheads in the Helsinki area, and it served as a perfect setting for the tavern-like feel we were looking for this acoustic music video!” comments the band’s lead singer Mikael Salo.

The band also had fun in the studio with 3 cover songs: Shakira’s “Whenever Wherever” featuring Nitte Valo (Dreamtale, ex-Battle Beast), Type O Negative’s “My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend” featuring Juha Kupiainen (De Lirium’s Order) and Dohatsuten’s “Ginga Densetsu Weed”, the opening song to an anime series of the same name where the band’s lead singer Mikael sang the song completely in Japanese! ”I used to study as an exchange student in Japan and picked up some of the language back then. My good friend from those times Nikolas Kiili helped out with the pronunciations, and I think the end result turned out real epic with the choirs and everything!” adds Mikael.

UNDER THE INFLUENCE Release New Single ‘Moon Flavoured Magnets’

Australian 4-piece punk act UNDER THE INFLUENCE have dropped their new single Moon  Flavoured  Magnets via Riot Records.

Moon Flavoured Magnets is the follow up to recent singles Body Parts and the acoustic version of fan favourite Propaganda Leaks.

Whilst the title comes across as being psychedelic, this track is far from it. It is another storming hardcore flavoured punk track. Under The Influence continue to deliver a vicious and intense punk arsenal that is gaining them a global fanbase.

“Welcome to Kins brain. It’s infused with mushrooms, madness and wisdom but we’ll let you decide… This is a mystical magical poem I wrote to Mother Nature. Touching on human greed, space, time, pollution and disrespect. Sadly, most humans are on a self-driven vendetta. Without a care for what really matters or anything that’s connected to the natural world. The only hope I see for mankind is to reconnect to the moon and oceanic currents by the only way I know, magic of course. That’s what this song is about…. Magic.’’ – UTI on Moon Flavoured Magnets

ABOUT UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Nineteen years ago in a garage in Dapto (South of Sydney, Australia) three high school friends with a passion for punk music and surfing, formed the band Under the Influence. UTI played as a 3 piece around the local music scene with original member Shane Kinerson (Kino) doing main vocals and drumming. On bass was Luke Malone (Moey) and on lead guitar was former member Glen Robinson. In 2009 after several line-up changes, Chris Curci joined on bass and Moey jumped on lead guitar. UTI continued playing this line up for the next few years and recorded the album Wasted Youth.

With solid feedback from Wasted Youth, Kino decided to step up his singing game and handed over the drum roll (pun intended) to Daniel Southern (Chicken Wing). Going through UTI’s discography you can hear the focus on improving the music and their growth as a band, starting from street punk influences, to heavy punk hardcore. If you have seen or heard under the influence with this high energy combination you will know they are dedicated to the music, nothing is held back and it is raw and intense.

UTI released their killer debut album in June 2019 on Riot Records Exchange My Brain with their first single Propaganda Leaks gaining critical acclaim across Australia and Europe.

Italian ex-parody metal outfit NANOWAR OF STEEL, formerly known for viral hits such as “Valhallelujah” and “Uranus”, has recently announced its retirement from their multi-faceted, comedic power metal sound, to pursue its newly found love for emotional pop music. Today, they reveal a first taste of what they have been cooking up!

NANOWAR OF STEEL don’t shy away from reinventing themselves on this stripped down, slow-tempo ballad: With stirring piano chords and tender female guest vocals, “Formia” will get you teared up!

Watch the Official Music Video for “Formia” HERE:

Singer/Bassist Gatto Panceri 666 from NANOWAR OF STEEL says about “Formia”:

„Just like life itself, emerged from the sea and gradually moved to the earth, we are symbolically from the shores of Formia to the dry land on the Italian peninsula with new life and new music. We are the amphibious species of music: we are metal but pop at the same time. So, unless you are a creationist, join us and enjoy the evolution of NANOWAR OF STEEL.”

Vancouver, Canada based UNLEASH THE ARCHERS were formed in late 2007 by vocalist and front-woman Brittney Slayes, together with her partner and the band’s drummer Scott Buchanan. Spanning the gap between various forms of metal, genre-blending has become their speciality, and the resulting product is a potent mix of intelligent song-writing and technically versatile musicianship.

Guttural screams likened to blackened death combined with the soaring wails of a four-octave mezzo-soprano in power-metal style have created a sound unlike anything else in the industry.

UNLEASH THE ARCHERS have been described as “show-stealers” and “wildly entertaining” by fans and peers alike, and they strive to put on a show that will stick with you long after you’ve left the venue. Since having signed to Napalm Records in 2015 the band broadened their fan base extensively which they will continue to do with their extended Soul-Bounding Across Europe 2021 tour.

Brittney Slayes states:
“I think it goes without saying that we are all insanely excited to see live shows start happening again.  Not being able to tour for the last year has been agony, and not just because we love playing music; we miss our fans like crazy!  We can’t wait to see all your smiling faces and hang out with you all at the shows.  We are also beyond stoked to get to play the new album live for the first time as well!  We’ve loved hearing from everyone what their favourite songs are and we just know we are going to hear your voices loud and clear on the ‘Soul-Bounding Across Europe Tour’ this winter!  See you on the road real soon!”

HOOKERS & BLOW Release New Single ‘Time of the Season’

HOOKERS & BLOW, the now legendary project formed by longtime Guns N’ Roses keyboardist Dizzy Reed and Quiet Riot guitarist Alex Grossi, recently hit the studios last year to record a covers album that will be released in 2021 via Golden Robot Records.

Now the band have dropped the fifth single off the album, a cover of The Zombie’s Time Of The Season, via Golden Robot Records.

Time Of The Season follows the release of the singles Shakin‘ (Eddie Money), Rocks Off (Rolling Stones) and Ziggy Stardust (David Bowie) and Trampled Underfoot (Led Zeppelin)

“We love the Zombies. Great band with a great name led by the incomparable Rod Argent and his keyboard wizardry. Time of the Season is an iconic song with a timeless message. It was our intention to try and honor them and all of that. To help get the word out and share the burden as well as the fun, the lovely Nadja picks up the lead vocals on this one.” – Dizzy Reed

Stream/buy Time of the Season HERE

The first single that hit our ears was an inspired cover of the Eddie Money classic Shakin‘. Shakin‘ finally saw the undeniable talent of Hookers & Blow shine through on their debut single. Hookers & Blow delivered the track with all the soul, honesty and depth of the original but in their own fashion, dripping with immaculate musicianship and flawless vocals.

Following Shakin’ was an energetic and rambunctious version of the Rolling Stones classic Rocks Off from the iconic double album Exile On Main Street.

Dizzy states: “If I had to pick one song to cover from the Stones, Rocks Offwould be it. Enjoy!”

The third single was an emotive version of David Bowie‘s Ziggy Stardust that truly and respectfully holds a candle up to the original.

Guitarist Alex Grossi comments, “‘Ziggy Stardust‘ has been in the Hookers & Blow live set since our very first show 17 years ago. We are really happy that we were able to capture the vibe of the way we do it live in the studio.“

Listen to Rocks Off, Shakin’, Ziggy Stardust and Trampled Underfoot

Their fourth single, a cover of Led Zeppelin’s Trampled Underfoot was dedicated to their good friend and colleague, the late Frankie Banali, who passed away recently after a battle with cancer. A portion of proceeds from this single will be donated to https://www.pancan.org/

Guitarist Alex Grossi comments:“This song was added into our live set during our first residency at The Whisky A Go Go in 2013 for Frankie Banali (Quiet Riot) to come down and jam on, when it came time to picking songs to cover for this record, naturally we had this one on the list, with Frankie on drums.’’

The band has used producer Alistair James who recently worked with Joe Perry, Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp on the newest Hollywood Vampires album.
