Toronto, Canada’s SARIN, have today released Thick Mire, the second single from their new album, You Can’t Go Back. Accompanying the single, the band has also released a music video for the track, produced by Chariot Of Black Moth. Shot in high contrast black and white, the visual writhes with a restless energy that compliments Thick Mire’s rhythmically hypnotic post metal sound.
Speaking on Thick Mire‘s release, David Wilson (guitar/vocals) comments: “As a unit, Thick Mire is our favourite song off You Can’t Go Back. It’s the darkest song on the record, and it hits that proverbial sweet spot for us by maintaining tension even in moments of utter groovy-ness. It’s also the first and probably last time I’ll detune my guitar mid-song—you only get to do that once per musical career.”
About the video, David adds: “We wanted the video to focus on the motion and texture of thick, dark liquid (a “thick mire”, if you will), and happily let Chariot Of Black Moth take the reins on communicating that and much more.”
Recorded at The Sugar Shack in London, Ontario by Simon Larochette and later mastered by James Plotkin, You Can’t Go Back captures SARIN‘s crushing post-metal at its dynamic best. The emotionally charged origins of the album’s lyrical themes lend themselves to the tonally dense and memorable song structures that build tension throughout, balancing crushing intensity with fleetingly gentle passages, that reveal the therapeutic nature of the record.
Although You Can’t Go Back is imbued with enough silver linings to make the album an inspirational listen, the process of change – and all its agonising facets – is never far from view. The cover artwork by Eliza Xenophon, in all its vibrant glory, hints at the churning mass of feelings contained within.
ou Can’t Go Back tracklist:
1. Cold Open 2. When You Melt 3. Reckoner 4. Thick Mire 5. Otherness 6. Leave Your Body
NECRONOMICON have announced their new album, “The Final Chapter”, it is in essence a new chapter for the band. It’s the first time that the band has international members, so the sound is different because of Rik Charron (ex Exciter) on the drums and Glen Shannon on lead guitar. But, oddly enough, you still know it’s NECRONOMICON – due to founding member Freddy, and his distinctive song writing style, and Marco Lohrenz on bass and backing vocals.
The songs on the “Final Chapter”, NECRONOMICON’s tenth album, is intricate, hard hitting, full force speed and power – all in one package. There will be a song on this album that will please everyone from Power Metaller to Thrasher. As with all the previous years, the album bears the unmistakable and signature sound of Achim Köhler who was responsible for the mixing and mastering. This album is coming to tear the roof down with a blistering sonic assault and energy that NECRONOMICON are known for.
Tracklisting:
“I Am The Violence” “Give Me Fire” “Pain” “Purgatory” “Burning The Fury” “Spilling Blood” “Selling Nightmares” “Justice” “The Devil’s Tears” “The Unnamed” “Me Against You” “Stormreaper”
The Final Chapter is set to be released on March 26, via El Puerto Records, in CD, Limited Edition Steelbox, and Digital formats.
And maybe it’s the final chapter?… Beware of the beast!!!
Taking into account the current world-wide Pandemic, and the effects it has had on the music scene, Norwegian Black Metallers NORDJEVEL have decided to postpone the release of what will be their third full-length album, but, not wanting to disappoint fans they have decided to release an EP in the meantime. As the band explains:
We have been writing material for the upcoming full-length, and are still working on it now, but, due to the ongoing pandemic situation we decided to delay its release until late 2021, in the hope of being able to play live and tour with the album.
The five-track EP, which will hit the streets on Indie Recordings on the 7th May, takes its name from “Fenriir”, the monstrous wolf of Norse Mythology. It is not, however, a concept recording, as NORDJEVEL are quick to point out:
“Fenriir” is an EP that shows all sides of NORDJEVEL, from the very beginning, right up to where we are now. We had a few extra tracks which we decided early on in the recording process didn`t fit our upcoming album, so we decided to include two tracks, the title track “Fenriir”, along with “Rovdyr”, and make them exclusively available for this EP.
To make the release more special, we also decided to record ” Gnawing The Bones” which is one of the new songs that will be on the upcoming album. We also wanted to include a live track, so we mixed and mastered a version of ” Det Ror Og Ror” which was recorded live at Brutal Assault in 2019 by Hugo Alvarstein.
And of course we couldn’t miss the opportunity to record a cover of “Fallen Angel” by the mighty POSSESSED. It is our tribute to them as the pioneers they are for our music, and also to honour them after we had the pleasure of touring with them last year.
NORDJEVEL’s lineup on “Fenriir” includes Doedsadmiral on Vocals, Destructhor and Valla on Guitars, Dzepticunt on Bass and Dominator on Drums. Vocals, bass and guitars were recorded at Velvet Recording, Spydeberg, Norway, by Nordjevel and Christer Krogh, whilst drums recorded at Studio LV5 in Sundsvall, Sweden.
With Artwork and layout by Doedsadmiral and long-time collaborator Khaos Diktator Design, “Fenriir” will be available in CD, Digital and Vinyl formats. Track listing for “Fenriir” is as follows:
All music and lyrics by Nordjevel, except Fallen Angel, which was originally performed and written by Possessed. The track Fenriir is based upon the poem called Fenriir.
The official video for the track “The Fevered Lands” from NORDJEVEL’s 2019 album “Necrogenesis” can be seen below.
Dynamic Canadian hard rock trio THE JAILBIRDS have dropped a brand-new single I Will Move On. Releaased via Golden Robot Records, I Will Move On is taken from the band’s upcoming 5 track concept EP.
2020 was a big year for The Jailbirds having built a strong global following and earning a place on the prestigious Spotify Hard RockPlaylist.
I Will Move On sees The Jailbirds back at their origins – heavy, modern hard rock, with loud and aggressive guitar tones, soft, crisp acoustic and clean guitars, with powerful thrashing drums, eerie vocals and chilling harmonies.
I Will Move On is the last song on the EP, and the last part of the story. It again follows the same character, rising up above the negativity in their life and gaining the confidence to keep on going.
Over the course of the last three years, the power trio – consisting of the intricate guitar work and powerful vocals from Myke Penney, the sludgy bass lines of Liam Hills, and the pounding drums of Eric Parent – have performed extensively across Ontario demonstrating, both in the studio and on the stage; they’re a band you simply must hear.
Winners of Best Rock Band at the 2018 Mississauga Music Awards (Canada), THE JAILBIRDS and The Black River have drawn comparisons to the likes of Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Royal Blood and Alter Bridge, among others.
THE JAILBIRDS have established themselves one of the most promising up and coming independent bands Canada has to offer with a sound that is equally rooted in the rock and roll of today as it is in that of the ‘70s and ‘80s.
2019 has proved to be a huge year for the band. Beyond releasing their debut studio EP The Black RiverTHE JAILBIRDS have received strong critical acclaim, including being featured on the esteemed Hamilton/Burlington based radio network, Y108 Rocks! The record and band have received a phenomenal response from their dynamic live performance.
Having cut their teeth on the road, THE JAILBIRDS have spent a majority of the first half of 2019 touring extensively throughout Ontario and Quebec in support of The Black River, most notably including a set at last year’s Voodoo Rockfest near Kingston, Ontario. The band also churned out two video clips for the cutsBlack Madonnaand The Black River.
GYPSY PISTOLEROS will release a brand new single and anthem for the underdog ‘Lost in a Town called Nowhere!’ on February 26th from the forthcoming brand new Album, ‘The Mescalito Vampires’! On Golden Robot/RIOT Records out June.
Described as the Album they always promised to make, this release see’s GYPSY PISTOLEROS fully embracing their fiery flamenco/rumba passion & crossover punk Rock n Roll leanings! Latin Rock’s Appetite for Destruction, ‘The Mescalito Vampires’ is here!
Gypsy Pistoleros are best described as being the ideal house band for the fictitious Titty Twister bar of Rodriguez’s From Dusk till Dawn. Between the nods to Morricone’s tense, tumbleweed atmospheres and the Gypsy Kings’ manic Mediterranean energy, a New York Dolls raw glam spark and a surplus of prime G ’n’ R attitude, the Pistoleros‘ sonic style is captured to the full with the release of an album they have always threatened!
Gypsy Pistoleros remain something truly unique and interesting in today’s predictable musical landscape. Combining their truly unique mix of flamenco rumba which gleefully collides with old school punk rock ‘n’ roll riffs in a head on collision. In the best rock ‘n’ roll tradition, with big hooks, attitude, and sleaze. Yet those flamenco breaks got into your head and refuse to leave – this hybrid rocks.
“The Pistoleros are sheer musical escapism” – Malcolm Dome Classic Rock Magazine
“Gypsy Pistoleros are a thrill-a-minute collection of melodic eye-patch swagger that smells of exotic spices and forbidden concubines. The Gypsy Pistoleros sound like Hanoi Rocks, if Hanoi Rocks were sultans and snakecharmers.” – Sleazegrinder-Classic Rock Magazine
“Gypsy Pistoleros were, and still are, a breath of fresh air. You will never hear another band like this. They are the greatest flamenco sleaze glam band ever. And that’s just a fact. If you don’t believe me, listen to this.” Maximum Volume Music – Andrew Thorley
“Can you imagine Sleaze, Glam, Hard Rock, Punk and some Flamenco rolled into one with a whole lot of Spanish attitude oozing out it? Imagine no more – The Gypsy Pistoleros will give it all to you, and you will love every minute of it and want to reach for a tequila shot”.- * Michele Storm Hairspray Heaven
“GYPSY PISTOLEROS have been carving out a unique niche for themselves in the crazy world of rock n’ roll. From the New York Dolls to Guns N’ Roses via El Bronco the Gypsy Pistoleros have got a stunning TexMex thing going on. Gypsy Pistoleros are the undisputed kings of Flamenco Sleaze”- Pulse Alternative Magazine
This mongrel offspring of fiery flamenco/rumba passion and gritty gutter glam, was born roamin’ somewhere between Barcelona and Worcester. Standing alone in musical ancestry and sum sound, they are one of those most rare acts who can honestly claim the tag ‘unique’

“Last spring, when lockdown “challenges” were all the rage, we’d been among more than a dozen musicians and singers answering Brian May’s call in a wonderful, elaborate all-star video in tribute to 1st responders (Scroll back to last Spring to see the full version, with a different vocalist singing each line). For this we created a straight through “jamming” version, with her voice straight through and remixed by yours truly (not easy, but a fun challenge!).
This is a special video posted on both of our Patreon accounts (thank you, patrons!) as a gift during the holidays. Now we are announcing it as it is available to view for all (more details, musician credits etc are in post). Enjoy!”
