Cleopatra Entertainment Acquires North American Rights To Horror-Thriller Film BAPHOMET Feat. Dani Filth

Cleopatra Entertainment has acquired North American rights to BAPHOMET, a Horror film from Writer-Director Matthan Harris.

BAPHOMET tells the tale of an American family (the Richardsons) celebrating their daughter’s pregnancy, but things begin to go awry when Satanic cult leader, Henrik Brandr unexpectedly visits their ranch. Henrik offers to pay the family a large sum for ownership of their land, claiming it is sacred to his congregation. Jacob Richardson, the father, rejects the offer due to the sentimental value of his ranch. Henrik, displeased, begins to put curses on the Richardsons, trying to force them off of their own land – even if it means murdering them. After suffering unexplainable tragedies created by the curses, the Richardsons seek help from Marybeth, a white witch high priestess. They soon discover a terrible secret about their house, revealing why their land is so sacred to the cult. They realize that they must protect their house from the cult at all costs, and a violent battle between good and evil ensues.

The film stars Colin Ward (MANK, CRIMINAL MINDS), Giovanni Lombardo Radice (THE OMEN, CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD, CANNIBAL FEROX), Nick Principe (LAID TO REST, CHROMESKULL), Harris (GERMAN ANGST, FOR WE ARE MANY) and CRADLE OF FILTH frontman Dani Filth as Lon Carlson, an occultist and expert on witchcraft. 

Says Harris: “BAPHOMET is a hellish rollercoaster of demonic and supernatural terror. I started pre-production for it back in 2013 and it has been my labor of undying love ever since. I’ve poured everything I could into this monster of a movie, and I’m so pleased that we can unleash this horrifying beast upon the world this year!”

Adds Filth: “I really liked the idea of it. The script was good. It seemed genuinely interesting, esoteric. The premise is great, and I quite liked the idea of the character I was playing… haggard and highly intelligent. It’s kind of apt, you know. I wouldn’t say it’s tongue-in-cheek, I wouldn’t even say it’s role reversal, but it’s similar in the way that Ozzy played a priest in Trick or Treat. It’s playing with the genre, mixing it up a little bit, and I think it’s cool, yeah. I think that I’m cut out for the role of an occult investigator, occult philosopher, etcetera. I could see myself actually doing that role in real life.”

The rights deal was brokered by Cleopatra Founder and CEO Brian Perera, Tim Yasui VP/GM of Cleopatra Entertainment and by John Lepper from the Cyfuno Ventures Sales Agency on behalf of the filmmakers.

BAPHOMET will be released domestically this June 8th, 2021 on VOD Platforms and also as a Home Entertainment DVD and BLU RAY package.

TANK To Release New Album “Re-Ignition” In April, Feat. Dani Filth And Tom Angelripper

UK metallers TANK have been busy in the studio recently putting the final polish on their latest metal offering which is certain to excite their legions of Filth Hounds around the world.

“Re-Ignition” is a tribute to the early days of TANK and features 11 classic TANK songs chosen from the first 4 albums which were originally released in the early 80’s. (Filth Hounds of Hades, Power of the Hunter, This Means War, Honour and Blood).

The album will be released worldwide (ex Japan) through Cleopatra Records on APRIL 26th 2019. The Japanese release will be through Rubicon Music.

“Re-Ignition” also features two very special guest appearances. Cradle of Filth frontman Dani Filth and thrash legend Tom Angelripper of Sodom both add their own unique style and energy to this already formidable album.

Many bands have admitted to have been influenced by TANK’s unique style of punk edged metal which was the trademark sound on the early albums. Those bands include Metallica, Nirvana and Sodom to name a few.

Mick Tucker:
Many of the songs from those classic albums are still present in our live set and we
are constantly being asked by our fans if we would ever consider re-recording any of
them. Those original recordings are timeless and will always be there but we thought
what harm can it do to give them a full metal makeover and inject new life into them.
They deserve it!

Cliff Evans:
We approached US label Cleopatra Records to see if they would be interested in
releasing the album. They jumped on it straight away and suggested the possibility of
adding some special guests on the album. Maybe some artists who were influenced
by TANK back in the 80’s. Great idea! We recruited Cradle of Filth frontman Dani Filth to record a version of ‘Shellshock’ in his own unique style and also German thrash legend Tom Angelripper from Sodom who has taken ‘Power of the Hunter’ to another insane level.

Joined by Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans on the album are recent recruits David Readman (Pink Cream 69) on vocals and Randy Van Der Elsen on bass. Long time TANK member and former Sodom drummer Bobby Schottkowski occupies the drum throne.

David Readman replaced former TANK vocalist and one time Dragonforce frontman ZP Theart after he was approached by Skid Row to join them on a permanent basis.
ZP recorded one album during his time with TANK (Valley of Tears) which became their best selling album since 1984’s Honour and Blood.

Prior to ZP the vocalist position was taken by former Rainbow frontman Doogie White who is now a permanent member of The Michael Schenker Experience. His contribution to TANK includes the albums War Machine and War Nation plus the bands first ever live DVD (War Machine Live!).

Cliff Evans:
We’ve always aimed high when it comes to recruiting new vocalists and musicians and
it’s always paid off. We’re very proud of the albums we’ve made with Doogie and ZP
and now this new album showcases the amazing vocal talent of David Readman.

TANK will embark on a run of shows in April 2019 when they’ll be visiting Holland, Belgium, Finland, Sweden and also their very first appearance in The Ukraine at the Volume Club in Kiev.

Talking here about the violence in generally, and violence on stage, caused by a band or a band member, which occasionally and unfortunately also hits our Metal World….

We, at Metal Shock Finland, want to state that we highly detest these kind of isolated actions. It definitely is NOT the way Metal Family and its ideology is meant to be. And in saying this, we want to post yet another sad video about a futile violent incident on stage, completely without sense and reason… of how Dani Filth punched the face of a Russian fan on their recent tour in Russia. An absolute no-go!

Witch County England’s finest, DEVILMENT featuring the master of horrors, Dani Filth (CRADLE OF FILTH, TEMPLE OF THE BLACK MOON), have released two new video trailers in which the legendary frontman shows his extensive collection of horror movies and talks the ones that had the biggest impact on DEVILMENT and him as a musician in general:

CRADLE OF FILTH: More Illustrations From Curse Of Venus Aversa Graphic Novel Revealed

Comic books and rock n’ roll have crossed paths many times – from the ongoing adventures of KISS at IDW to Neil Gaiman’s collaboration with ALICE COOPER in The Last Temptation.

Now, British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH have entered the fray with The Curse of Venus Aversa. The 72-page “adult graphic novel” features a story by singer Dani Filth and New Orleans cult comic book author Kurt Amacker, who wrote the final script. It tells the story of a salacious Victorian poet who faces down authorities, hoards of vampires, an ancient goddess, and his own demons – all that, after the suicide of his lover Gabrielle.

The band has checked in with the following update:

“The Kickstarter campaign for the Curse Of Venus Aversa graphic novella has been updated, with a few more illustrated pages revealed. Keep abreast of this ongoing situation, as in a few moon’s time the shirt design will be unveiled; there will be some more surprise add-ons; plus come All Hallow’s Eve, the ‘discovered’ creepy video footage of the ‘blessing of the dolls’ in deepest, darkest N’Orleans shall be uploaded, for your vulgar delectation…”

The graphic novel is inspired by key selections from the Filth’s extensive discography and authors of the Victorian era, including Lewis Carroll, Bram Stoker, and Oscar Wilde, who appears as a supporting character and friend to the book’s beleaguered poet. Montgomery Borror (Quarantine) provides stunning black and white art for the book’s interior, with a cover by DEVILMENT album artist Jamie Huntley.

Fans of both music and horror comics can support the project at Kickstarter, and pledge for a variety of exclusive and limited collectibles. While the book will be available following the campaign, early pledgers will receive an exclusive cover printed only for the first edition, along with a limited edition print, t-shirt, and Dani Filth voodoo doll from Quarter Kids Handmade Dolls.

The graphic novel’s title is a play on the Cradle of Filth track ‘The Cult of Venus Aversa’, and it reflects the story’s use of the band’s songs as a starting point – but not as a script to follow to the letter.

Singer Dani Filth stated, “Early on, we played with the idea of following a few songs beat by beat, but this initial idea didn’t flow particularly well. We then decided to just play in a world inspired by the lyrics, but not wholly derivative of them. What we’ve got now is an exploration of a Victorian horrorverse where all the songs are true!”

Amacker is equally excited about the project, stating, “Cradle of Filth literally inspired me to write about ten years ago. I love music as much as comics, and they’re one of the few bands that has truly influenced me. This is a dream project. I’m not a musician, so it’s an honor to contribute something to their legacy. His first miniseries, Dead Souls, launched in 2008 from Seraphemera Books, with other miniseries and graphic novels that followed – including the comic tie-in for the Finnish goth n’ rollers THE 69 EYES.”

The top contributors to the Kickstarter campaign will receive two extremely exclusive opportunities – a chance to appear in the comic itself, and a personal phone conversation between Kurt Amacker and Dani Filth. He remarked, “It’s an open and friendly chat. You can ask us whatever you like. But depending on how illicit the question, we may reserve the right to remain silent!”

DEVILMENT Featuring CRADLE OF FILTH Singer Recording Debut Album

According to Blabbermouth.net, Ipswich, Suffolk, U.K.-based band DEVILMENT, featuring vocalist Dani “Filth” Davey of British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH, has entered Grindstone Studios with producer Scott Atkins to begin recording its debut album for a 2014 release.

Comments DEVILMENT: “The work reconvenes in a few weeks time after the drum editing is done and this gives both Daniel [Finch, guitar and keyboards] and Colin [Parks, guitar] time to work together on the improvements made working in the studio for a week of sweltering summer country weather.

“Special guests have been alerted to the time frame and the artwork for the album is already well underway, courtesy of resident (evil) artist Jamie Huntley.”
