Metalshock Finland‘s Tarja Virmakari met Ben Varon (guitars) and Ari Koivunen (vocals) from AMORAL, backstage of Myötätuulirock festival, which took place in Finland (Vantaa, Hakunila sports ground) on August 3-4, 2012, organized by Rockfest Finland Oy.

In this exclusive interview we talked about Amoral’s music, their latest album, the busy summer festival period, their upcoming European tour…. and about life in general… listen to the interview below.

AMORAL is a band established by founders Ben Varon and Juhana Karlsson in Helsinki, Finland in the late 90’s. The band’s music is best classified as Classic Rock For The 21st Century: versatile, heavy and riff-driven, yet still melodic with a power groove. Skillful ensemble and crisp performance have characterized Amoral, which is internationally recognized as one of Finland’s foremost bands. METALLICA performed its top-selling 1991 LP, “Metallica”, a.k.a. “the black album,” in its entirety at the Helsinki concert. As they have done on all the shows on their current European tour, the band played the LP backwards, starting with closing number “The Struggle Within” and ending with “Enter Sandman”.

METALLICA, MACHINE HEAD, AMORPHIS, GOJIRA, GHOST Confirmed For Finland’s SONISPHERE

METALLICA will headline this year’s installment of the Finnish edition of the Sonisphere festival, set to take place June 4 at Kalasatama in Helsinki, Finland. Also scheduled to appear are MACHINE HEAD, AMORPHIS, GOJIRA and GHOST.

Tickets go on sale on Monday, February 6 at 9:00 a.m. at Lippupalvelu.fi and Tiketti.fi.

METALLICA will play the “black album” — its 1991 self-titled fifth effort that has sold nearly 16 million copies — in its entirety at selected European festivals, including Sonisphere, this summer.

METALLICA‘s four-song EP called “Beyond Magnetic”, which was made available digitally last month, will be released as a physical CD on January 31 (one day earlier internationally). The effort consists of the quartet of previously unheard tracks that the band unveiled in concert last month during its 30th-anniversary celebration. All four tunes — “Hate Train”, “Just A Bullet Away”, “Hell And Back” and “Rebel Of Babylon” — were recorded during the sessions for the band’s 2008 “Death Magnetic” album but left off the final track list. Australian BRUTAL BALLET in Finland

Brutal Ballet is Australia’s premiere metal ballet company, doing classical ballet to the genres of heavy metal music. Founder, choreographer and dancer, Bridie Mayfield’s unique performance style, bringing the separate sides of the dark beauty of ballet and metal together has been previously described as ‘a captivating visual extravaganza that would titilate an audience regardless of musical accompaniment……music and ballet comparing and contrasting with remarkable sophistication.’

Out of the Darkness is a journey through the various genres of metal, from the dark and brutal to the classic and melodic, featuring music from some of the best metal bands in the world, including dance pieces to Meshuggah, Arch Enemy, Slipknot, In Flames, Metallica, Children of Bodom and Dimmu Borgir.

Director of Brutal Ballet Bridie Mayfield comments: “We do classical ballet to heavy metal music, and are performing at the Sellohall in Espoo on February 7 2012. It is our European debut and we are very excited about coming to Finland.”
