Swedish folk metallers Falconer reveal front art and track listing for their seventh album ‘Armod’

Metal Blade Records has issued the following press release:

Swedish folk metallers FALCONER will release their seventh studio album Armod on June 3/6 via Metal Blade Records in Europe!

The CD features 11 songs completely sung in Swedish and four bonus tracks that are English versions of the band members’ favourite new songs.

The four bonus tracks will only be available with the limited first Digipak edition of Armod!

Comments FALCONER guitarist Stefan Weinerhall: “The album is embracing the Swedish folk music to a greater extent than before making it sound slightly more down to earth. The music spans from acoustic songs with cello, flute and fiddle to songs with blast beats and really heavy riffing. As said before this is a ‘one-time-only’ album and does not define the future sound of FALCONER, but it was about time to pay full notice to the influence that has always made us different. Now we have that out of our system!”

Armod was once again recorded at King Diamond guitarist Andy La Rocque’s Sonic Train Studios in Varberg, Sweden, during December and January.

Sister Release Artwork And Tracklisting For “Hated”

Metal Blade Records has issued the following press release:

Swedish sleaze and punk influenced metal band SISTER have just released the artwork and tracklisting for the Metal Blade Records debut HATED, due out June 3/6 in Europe. The first single also happens to be the title track of the album, HATED, which the band recently released a teaser video for that can be seen HERE.  Listen to the song at the following location: http://www.metalblade.com/sister.

The band talks about the first single HATED:
“The first single from the album is the title track HATED. It’s a song about when people close to you fuck things over for you, making your life miserable till the degree that you can’t take it anymore. You get so pissed and frustrated that you start to hate them and want them to hate you too. You want them to despise you and you use that anger as fuel to pull yourself back up. Feed you till you’re up on the top again. We’ve also had a lot of people that have worked against us over the years and this track and album title is kind of a statement as well. A big fuck you to those people. So it’s both the title track and the anthem of the album.

It was a song that took form real quickly and pretty much put together in one evening in the rehearsal. It just came natural and it felt right to have a heavier, low tempo song after some time of writing a lot of fast maybe more punk feeling songs. Though, this one still has the punk edge like all our work of course.”

Cover art for HATED was created by Kim Oktavia who is an artist/tattoo artist in Stockholm Sweden and photographer Axel Engström, also from Stockholm Sweden. The band comments; “The cover art for the album are made of us and our close friends Kim Oktavia and Axel Engström. Kim is the bands tattoo artist pretty much as the whole band gets their tattoos at her studio. She worked with the pictures that we took with Axel and really made them come to life. We did the layout with Axel afterwards and we are stoked over the result. The final cover and booklet blows our minds every time we see it. We have taken photos with Axel a lot times and it felt right to work with people that really understand what we want and are on the same page all the time. So it couldn’t have been better and when everybody sees the result they will see what we mean.”

About the band:
SISTER, who hails from Stockholm/Jönkoping Sweden, formed in early 2006 working hard to build up a name as a strong act both live and in the studio. SISTER consists of 4 members- Jamie on vocals, Lestat on guitars and backing vocals, Rikki on bass and backing vocals, and Cari on drums and backing vocals- who combine the sounds of Punk, Glam, Rock, and Metal with an end result sounding something like the bastard child of GG Allin and Guns N’ Roses.

Amoral To Release 5th Album “Beneath” In Late 2011

Finnish AMORAL has issued the following update:

Finnish metal/hard rock outfit Amoral has completed work on it’s 5th studio album. “Beneath” was recorded at Sound Supreme studios in Hämeenlinna, Finland, and was produced by Janne Saksa and guitarist Ben Varon. The album will be released in late 2011, with the first single out by the beginning of summer.

“I’d describe the album as ‘three steps forward, one step back'”, says Varon. “There are several nods to our past in form of long songs, intricate riffs and growling vocals. But the main focus is still on the strong melodies, big choruses and catchy riffs, just as was on our last album ‘Show Your Colors'”.

“Beneath” marks the first time new guitarist Masi Hukari has recorded with the band. Hukari – who joined the group late in the songwriting process – immediately wrote two songs together with Varon, both which ended on the album. Another first is that, from now on, Amoral has two lead guitar players.

“Masi is such a talent, it would have been a crime to make him ‘just’ the rhythm guitarist. It’s been killer to be able to do lead trade-off for the first time in the band’s history, for example. Masi is responsible for many of the guitar highlights of the album”, Ben declares.

The band documented the recording of “Beneath” in their studio blog, which was updated daily during the session. You can read the blog here.

Amoral will end their months-long break from playing live by doing a one-off show at On The Rocks in Helsinki on June 3rd. The idea is to break in the new guitarist, as well as trying out several brand new songs onstage for the first time.

Draconian To Release New Album In June

Vocalist Anders Jacobsson of the Swedish gothic/doom metal band DRACONIAN has issued the following update:

“We are sorry for keeping the lid on during the writing and recording process of this album. It has been a quite hard route, at least for me, to get things right and in order. I guess, most art is flowing without restraint and changes during the time of its construction, and sometimes even the artist him/herself needs time to comprehend it.

“Jens Bogren of Fascination Street [studios in Örebro, Sweden] sprinkled his magic over the songs during the production and mixing process and each and every song found its way. We are grateful to have such a committed producer and we can only feel blessed by the experience to once again have made another album reality at Fascination Street.

“The new album is called ‘A Rose For The Apocalypse’ and deals with a vast dilemma we’re all facing as one species; the horrors and contradictions we’ve created in our ‘nature-divorced’ system. The title refers to the collapse of this structure, built by mindless human opinion. It also refers to the necessity of its demise. We are trying to capture the gloom of its realization. I don’t know if we’d want to call this a conceptual album, but most songs certainly deal with the same topic in one way or the other. I’ve reached a point in my life when my eyes remain open.

“To most of you, ‘A Rose For The Apocalypse’ might appear a darker, more threatening album compared to the previous [album], ‘Turning Season Within’. And yes, it is different in several ways, but DRACONIAN remains the same.

“I have often said that our new work resembles a mix between the old and the new DRACONIAN and will unite fans of both preferences. While listening to this album, I feel a lot of history comes together in one place, at least sound-wise.

“Our old friend Olof Göthlin contributes with some of his excellent violin skills on the album. Cover and layout is created by the amazing Seth Siron Anton (PARADISE LOST, KAMELOT, ROTTING CHRIST, MOONSPELL).

“We sincerely hope we’ve created an album that will make impact on our beloved fans. Thank you for keeping up, sticking by us and maintained your faith in DRACONIAN.”

“A Rose For The Apocalypse” will be released on June 23 via Napalm Records. A limited digipack version of the CD with one bonus song will also be made available.

Chrome Division: New Song Available For Streaming

CHROME DIVISION, the Norwegian five-piece featuring DIMMU BORGIR frontman Shagrath (a.k.a. Stian Thoresen) on guitar, will release its third album, “3rd Round Knockout”, in Europe on May 6 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was recorded at Marius Strand Studio in Oslo.

Helheim To Stream Release Concert Live

Norwegian HELHEIM has issued the following update:

With their new album “Heiðindómr ok Mótgangr” already out in Norway, and with a world-wide release date set for the 23rd May, Norwegian Viking Metallers HELHEIM will stream the entire set of their release party concert live.  Far from being an ordinary set, the show will be much longer than usual, and will involve the use of two drum kits, concert drums, timpani and French horn players, as well as state of the art VJ’ing and the best sound and light technicians available in Norway.  With several superb guest artists also due to make an appearance, the whole event promises to be something very special.   The concert will take place on Saturday 09th April at the Kvarteret in Bergen, and can be watched at http://www.helheim.com/live/ streaming will commence at 22:00 Central European Time and the concert itself will start at 22:30.

“Heiðindómr ok Mótgangr”, is the natural sequel to the MCD “Åsgards Fall”, which was released on Dark Essence Records in November of last year.  The first edition of the album will include a bonus DVD which contains HELHEIM’s live shows from the Full Force and Inferno Festivals, as well as the official videos for ”Dualitet og Ulver”, ”Stones To The Burden” and ”Jernskogen”.  The nine track album features guest appearances from Hoest (TAAKE), who also appears in the ”Dualitet og Ulver” video,  Gunnar Emmerhoff (EMMERHOFF & THE MELANCHONY BABIES) amongst others.  “Heiðindómr ok Mótgangr”, was recorded at the Conclave and Earshot Studio in Bergen with producer Bjørnar Nilsen (VULTURE INDUSTRIES, BLACK HOLE GENERATOR) and was mastered by Herbrand Larsen (ENSLAVED).
