Nightwish singer Anette Olzon writes on her official blog:
“I think it’s a great and varied CD. The feelings in it are great and there are a lot of elements in it, so I am sure it will have many different favorite songs for the listeners since the songs are so different in styles and sound.
‘Dark Passion Play’ is a great album and this one, too, so I don’t know yet which one I like more, but, of course, for me personally, this one feels better to do since the songs are more adjusted to my voice and my style.”
To have fun, indeed, seems to be the secret ingredient of the new album of Nigthwish…
After finishing the drum recordings, it’s time for the rhythm guitars. Emppu(Nigthwish guitarist) tells us how his work is progressing, and after completed everything he still needs to refine some parts and to have some distraction to be able to do a better job …
…and the pike fishing seems to the best solution, as he caught a 5,14-kg pike… lol.
So he tells:
“Anyway, Tuomas and Mikko Karmila (Koo-Mikko the Comedian) were here a while ago (august). We messed around with the amps for a day, trying different sounds, and I’ve now completed about half of the rhythm tracks. It’s hard to say whether my job is 30% or 5% done, because if old signs hold true, the guitar parts just keep on increasing. Meaning that just when you’re about to pop open that bottle of champagne, you realize that, damn, this and that part still need something. In other words, having learnt something from previous sessions, I’ll keep the champagne on ice at least for another six months.”
Emppu also promises us that he will shoot some photos from the sessions … so we remain waiting for them.
Nightwish entered the studio late last month to begin recording the follow-up to 2007’s “Dark Passion Play”.
Writing on her official blog, Nighwish singer Anette Olzon states about the upcoming CD, “I can’t say too much, as I am sure you all understand since it’s always hush-hush in this business. But the album will come out late 2011 as we know for now. Emppu [Vuorinen] is recording his guitars at the moment and then Marco [Hietala, bass/vocals] will do his bass after that, then the orchestra in London in February (where I will go and check it out). And then I do my recordings in March and then Tuomas [Holopainen. keyboards] will do his before mixing and mastering. So the schedule is the same as we have said before.”
According to drummer Jukka Nevalainen, the new NIGHTWISH songs “have again a massive variety and mood changes from lunatic circus to a hazy jazz club.”
On July 30, Olzon gave birth to her second child (and first with her current boyfriend, bassist Johan Husgafvel of the Swedish metal band PAIN). He was 52 centimeters tall and he weighed in at 3930 grams. Olzon, 39, also has a nine-year-old son, Seth, with her now-ex-husband.
Nightwish is not expected to play any more concerts until the release of the band’s next studio album.
…says Nightwish drummer Jukka at the end of the session recordings. In 5 days recordings, all the drum tracks are now finisched , and even if it was very stressful for Jukka, this time he managed to create a very relaxed working atmosphere, as we can see from the photos on their website: http://www.nightwish.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=202
The entire recording session was controlled by Tuomas, who literally whipped the drummer, but as Jukka says “I’m sure he did it with love …”, a new proof of how much fun Nigthwish can have, while working.
Jukka Nevalainen commented: “Songs Have again a massive variety and mood changes from lunatic circus to a hazy jazz club. It was a great challenge to try to get the right touch to Each of the songs, But my ‘humble’ opinion Is that we nailed it.
“Today we finished the session by recording witch drum to the starter of the album by playing and brushes to a classy ballad in the spirit of David Lynch. Drums Were recorded ten songs all together and to It Could Have Been Any Better – perfect location, great guys around to work with and Some excellent music to be created.”
“Between vampires and Bedouin tents Nightwish started recording the new album!” so says their drummer Jukka Nevalainen on the band’s official website.
As always, NW fans can find the details in band’s pictures, just go to see at: http://www.nightwish.com/
It’s very nice to see how they transformed a home in professional recording studio, and to see the fireplace and a bunch of wood for it, just behind the mixer, it’s really cool! This is Nightwish, who knows how to entertain and have fun at work.
Jukka Nevalainen commented: “After spending an intensive summer camp on Finnish countryside and putting a final touch to the demo, we started recording the drums for our next album. We gathered together yesterday and set up the drums and all the recording devices. Today was mostly spent just perfecting the sounds. Just like with our last album we got some back-up from Mr. Kai Hahto (Swallow The Sun & Wintersun), who is known to be able to conjure godly sounds by tuning the drums. The legendary duet of Mikko Karmila and TeeCee Kinnunen are taking care of the engineering again. Tonight ended with a complete take of the first song, so the recording session has now officially started! Jihaa!”
