Thrash legends SLAYER have unleashed their new official music video for the track ‘You Against You’, taken from their 12th studio album, “Repentless”. Check it out below:

In the song ‘You Against You,’ vocalist Tom Araya screams “Your perfect world is ending this day, So what? I wouldn’t have it any other way.” And so, from the very first frame of the band’s ‘You Against You’ music video, the gore, the violence, the projectile-blood-spewing and the carnage begins and just never ends.

‘You Against You’ is the prequel to ‘Repentless,’ Slayer’s brutal 2015 video filmed at an L.A. prison that has logged nearly 7.5 million YouTube views. Like ‘Repentless,’ ‘You Against You’ was directed by BJ McDonnell, stars Jason Trost “(Hatchet III”) as Wyatt, the eyepatched rebel inmate, and tells the story of the circumstances that led to Wyatt‘s erroneous arrest and imprisonment.

Slayer‘s performance of ‘You Against You’ was shot deep in the heart of California’s Mojave desert earlier this year in a graveyard of jets, airliners, and helicopters.

SLAYER: New Album Coming And Tour Kicks Off This Week

SLAYER – bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, guitarist Kerry King, and returning drummer Paul Bostaph, along with touring guitarist Gary Holt and producer Terry Date – has completed recording what is one of the most highly-anticipated albums of 2015, SLAYER’s 11th studio album and the band’s first new effort since 2011’s Grammy-nominated World Painted Blood. The currently untitled album is expected out later this year, and will be released on SLAYER’s own as yet unnamed label (through Nuclear Blast).

SLAYER will tour extensively to support the new album, headlining this summer’s Mayhem Festival as well as playing other major outdoor festivals and several “An Evening With…” SLAYER -only concerts. The confirmed itinerary is below.

Following SLAYER’s studio sessions in March 2014 that yielded the track “Implode,” offered by the band as a free download, SLAYER recorded on and off between September and mid-January at L.A.’s Henson Studios, and is currently mixing the album. Eleven songs have been recorded, but what will end up on the final track listing is yet to be determined. Early reports indicate that SLAYER fans have a lot to look forward to – the new music is a sonic assault of brutal, ominous, lightning-fast and heavy-as-hell music with lyrics that unmask what SLAYER knows best – the terror, the corruption and the societal turmoil that dominates our world.

“The new songs have that iconic SLAYER feel,” said Nuclear Blast America’s General Manager Gerardo Martinez. “Tom’s vocals are probably the best I’ve heard in two decades, and Kerry, Paul and Gary are playing their asses of with powerful, intense performances and riffs and beats that are absolutely lethal.”

Fans got a second preview of the new album this past Saturday when another one of the new songs, “When The Stillness Comes,” was released as a limited-edition (only 5000 copies worldwide), seven-inch vinyl picture disc exclusive for Record Store Day.

The new album marks the first time SLAYER has worked with producer Terry Date (Slipknot, Soundgarden, Deftones), Bostaph’s return to the SLAYER recording line-up since 2001’s God Hates Us All, and Holt’s first appearance on a SLAYER album. It’s also the first SLAYER album without the presence of founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman, although a Hanneman-penned song is on the final track listing.

According to Tom Araya, “Jeff had always been writing and demoing songs, even up until shortly before he passed. You can tell by the quality of his songwriting that this was his passion. There will be a song written by Jeff on the new album. Everything but the vocals had been completed, so we did the vocals and it’s done. And there are a few more of Jeff’s songs that we might record and release in the future.”

“With this new album,” added King, “Tom, Paul and I put all of our ideas out on to the table, working in a more collaborative way toward the ultimate heavy outcome. And I’ve got to give big props to Gary who played lead on several of the new songs. I think he got all of his leads done in one day – he’s a maniac!”

This is a pretty epic interview although, as usual, the girls showed no fear when sitting down next to a legendary musician such as Slayer’s Tom Araya.

Araya doesn’t really have a bad reputation, but he’s not a really outspoken guy and since Slayer’s music tends to be pretty dark and brutal, we were expecting a pretty intense guy.

As you’ll see, Araya was fairly light-hearted and did quite a bit of laughing throughout the interview.

Says Joe, “When you have the proper crew, they respect the support bands, and they make everything easier. If we have the smallest problem, we just talk to one of them, and it’s fixed right away. Everyone is helping one another. You know it of course, but you have a great crew. It helps.”
He also talks about being a Slayer fan, saying, “Someone gave me a cassette of Reign In Blood and one of South of Heaven. I had just discovered Metallica at the time, and that was the fastest and most evil music I was listening to [Laughs]. I heard Slayer, and I was like, ‘Holy shit! What is this?’ I remember looking through the window of the bus and seeing all of the buildings, houses, and people in the street, and all of a sudden, I was completely disconnected from reality. It’s a very precise feeling that I still have today when I think about it.”

TOM ARAYA: Why DAVE LOMBARDO Is No Longer In SLAYER

During a brand new interview with Brian Aberback of New Jersey’s Steppin’ Out magazine, SLAYER bassist/vocalist Tom Araya was asked about the band’s decision to part ways with drummer Dave Lombardo bring back Paul Bostaph.

“That whole issue came down to this: Dave had been jamming with us for a while, as a working member of the band, but he wasn’t a partner,” Tom began. “Like all things like that, you have to have agreements, so nobody feels cheated. We had ongoing issues and finally he put us in a position where we had to find someone to replace him. He wasn’t happy, so he decided to have his Facebook rant and told the world about a lot of issues going on within the band that are legally binding and private. I thought that was wrong and it was upsetting. A lot of the claims he made were untrue. Part of the agreement is you don’t do that. Kerry [King, SLAYER guitarist], Jeff [Hanneman, then-SLAYER guitarist] and I got on the phone and made a collective decision and we let Dave go and gave Paul a call. Paul said he’d be happy to come back. He has brought some life back into our live performances. He’s in hyper drive and kicking ass, which makes us play faster. People have commented on how energetic we’ve been lately. We’re playing faster than we would have. It’s good injection of adrenaline.”

Lombardo sat out SLAYER‘s Australian tour in February/March due to a contract dispute with the other members of the group. Filling in for him was Jon Dette (TESTAMENT, ANTHRAX).

During an interview with the KZRADIO.NET alternative radio station in Israel conducted on May 1 — just one day before the tragic passing of SLAYER guitarist Jeff Hanneman — Lombardo stated about his the circumstances that led to him being absent from SLAYER‘s current trek: “Basically, I had to renegotiate my contract two and a half years ago and I got an attorney because it was too complicated for me to do it myself. And my attorney was asking questions. And the answers she got from her questions, they weren’t correct; they weren’t the right answers. So we worked on it for two and a half years. And 2013 came around and SLAYER had to go on tour, and I said, ‘Guys, I can’t go on tour unless we resolve this, I’ve been advised.'”

He continued: “What I need is clarity — clarity and transparency.

“You go and make money for somebody, and if somebody is gonna pay you a percentage, you need to know where all this goes. They say I don’t deserve to know, but I think if you’re gonna pay somebody a percentage, they deserve to know. Because how are you gonna know what you got paid when you don’t know everything else?

“It’s a little complicated, and there’s more to it as well.

“They feel that because I left in 1992 and I left for 10 years, they feel I don’t deserve [to know all the details of their business].

“I mean, I love the guys — they’re like my brothers — and I wish this didn’t happen. But now there’s like this wall between us.”

Regarding some fans’ criticism that money should not get in the way of the members of SLAYER making music together, Lombardo said: “What people don’t understand is that, being a musician, you have to be a part businessman. There’s contracts… If you’re a musician and you don’t have a contract and you don’t follow up on your business, people are gonna take from you and they’re gonna steal from you.

“Chuck Berry, Ray Charles… all those guys in the early days, they made, let’s say, $500. Well, a poor musician will be happy with $100. ‘Wow, I made $100.’ Well, what happened to the other $400? Who took the other $400?

“[Being] musicians, you have to understand business as well as your art and your music, and you have to be professional.”

Bostaph was SLAYER‘s drummer from 1992 until 2001 and recorded four albums with the band — the gold-certified “Divine Intervention” (1994), the 1996 punk covers album “Undisputed Attitude”, “Diabolus In Musica” (1998), “God Hates Us All” (2001) that received a Grammy nomination for “Best Metal Performance”, as well as the DVD “War At The Warfield” (2001), also certified gold. In addition to SLAYER, Bostaph has been a member of FORBIDDEN, EXODUS, SYSTEMATIC and TESTAMENT.

SLAYER founding members Tom Araya and Kerry King spoke with Patrick Ryan from USA Today on the eve of the band’s Old School Slayer Night tour which launched last night (October 25) at the The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

“It’s a whole different attitude all around,” Araya says of the tour. “I was very hopeful that Jeff (Hanneman) would be able to get his abilities to play back, and that he would come back and play (with us) … (His death) just changed my attitude and opinions about certain things. I don’t know if people would ever understand that, but things are different.”

While he finds such memories amusing, Araya has now taken alcohol out of the equation. “I’m living longer and it’s sensible,” he says. “I’m just trying to be responsible and make sure that I stay healthy, and can play and perform and do what I do.”

Among the new material Slayer are aiming to record early next year is a song written by Hanneman, which King says they’ll be tinkering with musically and lyrically to make it the best it can be. “If it ends up being the last thing we ever use from Jeff Hanneman, I don’t want people to say, ‘Yeah, it could have been better,’ ” King says. “I want people to say, ‘Yeah, that’s rocking.'”
