Turisas: New Album, Release Dates Announced

Finnish Battle Metal soldiers Turisas will release the highly anticipated 3rd album “Stand Up And Fight” via Century Media Records on the following dates: Europe: January 31, 2011 and North America: February 8, 2011. Release dates for other territories will be announced shortly.

Along with releasing a new album, Turisas will join Cradle of Filth on a US tour in February-March 2011. The other supporting bands on this tour are Nachtmystium (USA) and Daniel Lioneye (FIN). Right after returning from the States Turisas will join forces with Die Apokalyptischen Reiter on a European tour in March-April 2011. Please see the tourdates below.

Violinist Olli Vänskä comments: “In 2005 we only had a few shows under our belt and were total beginners with touring. We had such a blast on that first tour, played really nice shows and were happy with how Die Reiter treated us rookies. When they asked if we wanted to join them on tour again it was a kind of a ‘why not’ decision for us – an interesting and entertainment-guaranteed combo.”

Turisas finishes new album – North American Tour starting Jan 2011

Finnish black/death metal band Turisas has finished recording the upcoming, yet untitled third album (TBA). The new album was recorded between March and September 2010 at Sound Supreme Studio, Finland, and mixed by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Paradise Lost etc.) at Fascination Street, Sweden. The album was produced by vocalist and main songwriter Mathias “Warlord” Nygård. The album is due to be released worldwide on Century Media Records in early 2011.

Along with releasing a new album, Turisas is to join Cradle of Filth on a US tour in February-March 2011. The other supporting bands on this tour are Nachtmystium (USA) and Daniel Lioneye (FIN). Mainland Europe and UK shows will be following close behind, details to be announced shortly; 2011 is looking to be one long road trip!

Warlord Nygård comments:
“After a 16-month break from touring, focusing fully on the work on our third album, I’m happy to tell you that we’re DONE! The workload has been enormous, and at times I’ve wished I’d known better, formed a punk rock band and kept things simple! But to achieve real progress, you really have to dig deep and see what you’re made of. Take bites so big, you almost choke. We’ve stayed true to our ideology of releasing music only when we have something new to come out with, not repeating ourselves or just copying what we’ve done in the past to feed the market. Now that we’re done with studios, we’re all extremely excited to get back on the road again, and as our latest visit to North America is long overdue, coming over in January with Cradle is something we’re all very much looking forward to. We had a great time touring with them in Europe in 2009, so this should be killer! Now we only have to figure out how to play these new songs!!”

Turisas Releases Cover Of Black Sabbath’s ‘Supernaut’

Finnish “battle metal” warriors Turisas have released their cover version of the Black Sabbath classic “Supernaut” a a digital single.
Turisas’ “Supernaut” is available now on all digital European and North American platforms. An Australian release will follow on October 8.

Turisas recently entered Sound Supreme studio in Hämeenlinna, Finland to begin recording its third album for an early 2011 release via Century Media Records. The as-yet-untitled CD is currently being mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street studios in Örebro, Sweden.
