Swedish Heavy Metal heroes SABATON have announced a new and very special kind of festival, issues Nuclear Blast. So, there is the ‘Sabaton Open Air/Rockstad:Falun’ festival in SABATON’s hometown Falun, the ‘Sabaton Cruise’ on the Baltic Sea and now there is also ‘Sabaton Open Air/Noch ein Bier Fest’ in Germany!

For a long time SABATON have had the plans for doing a special and totally unique event in Germany and that will become reality now. In July they will organize ‘Sabaton Open Air/Noch Ein Bier Fest’, a headline concert where people will surely get a unique show. For this concert they have chosen the stunning Amphitheatre in Gelsenkirchen (famous from ‘Rock Hard Festival’) and as support on this show SABATON will bring some bands they know that their fans have requested: their old touring colleagues in POWERWOLF and KORPIKLAANI as well as their former bandmates CIVIL WAR.

Bassist Pär Sundström comments: “In 2008 we organized ‘One more beer party’ in Essen in Germany as a release party for ‘Art of War’. Since then the idea has existed of doing something similar. Now, seven years later, all pieces have fallen into position and we are ready. There will be a lot of ‘Noch ein Bier’ that night!”

Graspop Metal Meeting has confirmed LIMP BIZKIT as second headliner for Saturday June 28. Read below:

Two years ago LIMP BIZKIT amazed both friend and foe with a hard-hitting headlining show that topped off the second festival day. Their obstinate mix of nu-metal lavishly covered with a hip hop sauce was one of the day’s highlights and the crowd in front of the stage really let their hair down. This GMM-edition Fred Durst and friends will be providing top entertainment as headliner on Mainstage 2 on Saturday June 28. Their new album, ‘Stampede of the Disco Elephants’, is scheduled for an early 2014 release so there’s new material to look forward to as well. Judging by their previous GMM show we’re in for crazy costumes, the occasional striking cover and boundless live energy. These guys know how to whip an arena into a frenzy so come prepared.

KATANA: Announces Storms Over Europe Tour -14

According to Listenable Records, Swedish heavy metallers KATANA will hit the ground running as they start the year 2014 with a major tour of Europe together with CIVIL WAR.

Since 2005 KATANA from Gothenburg, Sweden has helped popularize the NWOTHM genre of young bands playing classic heavy metal in the vein of bands like IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST and MANOWAR. With a stage show complete with katana swords, spandex tights, double lead guitar solos and everything one would want from an early 80’s metal show KATANA has made a name for themselves in classic metal circuits all over the world.
KATANA released their second album ”Storms of War” last year and earlier this year the music video for the brand new song ”Yakuza” became available exclusively on YouTube.

KATANA has played major open-air festivals like Wacken and Sweden Rock Festival as well as toured in central Europe and Spain. Now they are taking their wild and sweaty metal show to the stages of Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium.

” This is something we´ve been working towards for a long time and we´ve finally found the perfect set-up to take this show on the road for real, says KATANA. We have a lot of fans in northern Europe who´ve been waiting to see us live for a long time and it feels great to finally be able to bring our show to them in a way that will meet their expectations. We are playing great venues every night and of course we are opening for a band that really knows what metal is all about. It´s going to be one hell of a tour!”

CIVIL WAR is a new heavy metal band formed from 4 ex-SABATON members together with former members of ASTRAL DOORS and LION’S SHARE. They had the following to say regarding the tour in February: “Civil War is extremely happy to hit the roads in February together with Katana. This is our first tour and we can’t wait to get out and get the chance to perform the songs from our album “The killer angels” for the metal crowds of Europe. We look forward to see you all out there and together with Katana we will form a combo that will hit you like a sledgehammer in your chest!”

Despotz Records is extremely happy and proud to announce that CIVIL WAR‘s debut album ”The Killer Angels” have sold more than 20 000 copies in Sweden and have been awarded with a gold record.

Selling 20 000 + in our home country is something none of us could ever imagine when getting into the sessions leading up to the album, even though we felt that we made a solid record, getting these numbers was still something we couldn’t predict upon our wildest imagination.

The Killer Angels have received overwhelming reviews and response from all over the world, for us reading the one review after the other, getting comment from you, our fans, almost each and every one of them with all positive feedback is a bit unreal. We can’t tell you enough how much it means that you, the fans of our music, can look beside our previous adventures in bands through the years and giving this a listen for what it is, a fresh start with a new band and our own music.

CIVIL WAR (Ex-SABATON) Streams “Gettysburg” For 150th Anniversary

According to Fresno Media, CIVIL WAR, the new symphonic power metal band from ex-Sabaton members, Rikard Sundén, Oskar Montelius, Daniel Mullback and Daniel Myhr, along with frontman, Nils Patrik Johansson (Astral Doors), and bass player, Stefan “Pizza” Eriksson (Volturyon), has uploaded its new song, “Gettysburg” to Soundcloud in celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the historic battle. Check out the song, taken from the band’s debut full-length The Killer Angels out now on Despotz Records, online here:

“The Battle of Gettysburg. 150 years have passed since it took place, but still today it’s one of the greatest battles in history,” commented the band. “This is a song that reflects the memories and thoughts of one single soldier. His name is unknown, maybe he never existed. But if he did, maybe this is what went through his mind. We give you the song, ‘Gettysburg.'”
