It’s Christmas time and a time for celebrating, even if you’re alone! Aside from watching films and making love, we all love listening to our favourite music at full volume. Our Chief Editor has made a flammable list for you to rock with your loved ones, friends or even by yourself!
“I’ve made this for almost everyone – for those who have fallen in love this year or those who are still together after many years, those who lost their loves or friends or family members, those who are apart from each other and those who have new family members. And for those who are tired of this sad and horrible year and wish a brighter and better 2017. So here you go, rock it and don’t forget you love your neighbours, so rock it louder!
Mohsen Stargazer Fayazi.”

With their latest sensational signing, Hanover record imprint Steamhammer/SPV has set the course for more highlights in the coming year: UNITY, the new band founded by drummer Michael Ehré and guitarist Henjo Richter (both Gamma Ray), has signed a long-term contract and is currently busy working on their debut album. The eponymously titled recording has been scheduled for release in early 2017 and aficionados of powerful hard rock and technically accomplished melodic metal can expect to get more than their money’s worth.
Along with their two figureheads, Richter and Ehré, UNITY consists of Gianba Manenti (vocals), Stef E (guitar), Jogi Sweers (bass) and Sascha Onnen (keyboards), all of them musicians that many fans have been familiar with since Ehré’s band Love.Might.Kill arrived on the scene.
“During many gigs and countless hours in the rehearsal room, Michael and I discovered that we are on the same wavelength, on a personal as well as on a musical level. So we came up with the idea of focusing that part of our creativity that goes beyond Gamma Ray in another band,” Richter explains. “UNITY features the perfect line-up for that.”
Michael Ehré is equally enthusiastic: “We’re proud and more than happy to have found a strong partner in SPV/Steamhammer who enjoy an excellent reputation on a global level. The amazing experience and great passion with which Olly Hahn has helmed the label for many years are awesome. We’re really looking forward to our fruitful collaboration and will ensure together that UNITY gets off to a successful start.”
Olly Hahn, A&R at Steamhammer, places great hopes on his new signing: “The outstanding songwriting and great technical skill of everybody involved are unmistakable. For this reason, UNITY suits the Steamhammer team perfectly and we will continue to work flat out for our artists in 2017.”

The ROCKHARZ Open Air has announced three more bands for 2016. Next to legendary GAMMA RAY, two hopefuls will enter the stage at the Harz Mountains. AND THEN SHE CAME will even give their festival premiere at ROCKHARZ. The quartet will release their debut album on June 24th. Expect a blend of hook-laden and cinelectric heaviness. In the end, there are the ROCK DEVILZ, who will bring some fantastic old school Rock to the Harz Mountains.
Thereby, the billing from Thursday to Saturday is complete. Now there are only those bands missing that will rock at the AFM Label Night next to J.B.O. on Wednesday. The announcement should follow soon. The ROCKHARZ 2016 takes place at the airport Ballenstedt from July 7th to July 9th 2016.

German metallers GAMMA RAY have made a special announcement via their official Facebook page. Read it in full below:
“The band has decided to further on work with two singers for several good reasons.
So from now on the vocals there will be Mr. Kai Hansen as usual plus and welcome please Mr. Frank Beck with whom the band has done already a good amount of shows in the past. We found out that Frank is not only a great singer that very much fits into the band from his voice and from his temper of the voice and his kind of singing but as well as a very very good human being that is fit to live up to the extreme expectations that we as a band have for people joining.
Mainly this guy cannot only sing, he can party, too and that’s very important. So that was reason one.
Another good reason was that Kai just felt that it’s time for him to cut a bit shorter on singing because he found out that his long touring especially headline shows after a while always tends to fuck up the voice and end up with something that is not a hundred percent. So sharing the vocals makes things much easier and much more pleasurable.
It will not only give the band a new dimension soundwise or vocalwise but it will as well – and here is reason number three – give Kai the freedom to move around on stage a lot and plus create a bit more action on the live performances and be more free to play the guitar which actually he does like a lot.
So ladies and gentleman please welcome the new GammaRay and please welcome Mr. Frank Beck.”
