Swedish metallers DEGRADEAD have issued the following:
Part 1. by David Szücs (guitars)
A morning in the studio… We are just about getting started on recording the bass for all the new songs here in the studio which is located in Skara. After a long time away from home, touring, it feels really nice to be back in Sweden.
To sum things up for those who couldn´t be there: We did the Overkill-tour in Europe and were there for about 20 days, and then in Russia for 10 days. Since we´ve been in Russia before we had a feeling about how it was going to be. Totally awesome! Every gig we did was crowded and the people there had really been expecting us. It is really fun when people come up to you with a very limited edition of one of our CD´s that you don´t even have in your own CD-collection. Really hardcore fans. Those CD´s were fun to sign.
Recently, we have worked a lot with our new songs. Micke has done most of the songwriting job and all of us have been rehearsing for the new recordings. There is also a lot of work with pre-productions at home. We´ve almost gotten half-way on the new album (which feels really nice) and we´re going to start recording my guitar on Monday. Today Anders is starting to record bass and then continuing on Monday.
The Overkill-tour was one of the highlights. We visited Polen for the first time and our fans there were almost as crazy as the ones in Russia! They just wanted more! Otherwise it was a fairly even tour, that went equally good every day. It was the first time for us in England and Italy and many other cool countries.
Shortly we will announce the album cover and title, which of course feels really exciting and we hope you all will enjoy it. This album is a bit different from our others. It has very much soul. A lot of feelings. I feel that we have improved a lot these past months. This album feels really genuine. It is our first album with completely acoustic drums. Our inspiration for this album comes from life itself.
Gojira‘s awesome new album L’Enfant Sauvage comes out on Tuesday, June 26 (though you can pre-order it now), and we sat frontman Joe Duplantier down recently and had him go through it, track by track. He explains the lyrical messages of each song, the approach they took to the music, and more.
Here’s Part 1, in which he discusses the first four songs – “Explosia,” “L’Enfant Sauvage,” “The Axe,” and “Liquid Fire.” Parts 2 and 3 will be coming very soon.
Everybody has stage moves, but does that mean they are good? As part of Metal Injection‘s ongoing “Ask The Artist” series, the question of best and worst stage moves was posted to members of DRAGONFORCE, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, ALL SHALL PERISH, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, OBEY THE BRAVE, THE ACACIA STRAIN, SKELETONWITCH, LAST CHANCE TO REASON, THE CONTORTIONIST, HOLY GRAIL, PERIPHERY, IWRESTLEDABEARONCE, HUNG, OVERKILL, GOD FORBID and UNEARTH and the answers were pretty funny. The first of two video clips in which guitarist Gus G. of Greek melodic metallers FIREWIND talks about the individual tracks that will appear on the band’s new album, “Few Against Many”, can be seen below. Due in Europe on May 21 via Century Media Records and in North America on May 22 through DisManic, Inc. via eOne Distribution, the CD was mixed by Jason Suecof and Eyal Levi at Audiohammer Studios (TRIVIUM, ALL THAT REMAINS, DEATH ANGEL) in Sanford, Florida.
Produced by Gus, “Few Against Many” was recorded with his longtime bandmates, vocalist Apollo Papathanasio, keyboardist/guitarist Bob Katsionis and bassist Petros Christo, at Valve Studio in Greece as well as the Sweetspot Studios in Sweden and sees the band expanding on its signature melodic sound with some of its most aggressive songs to date. The CD also marks the recording debut of new FIREWIND drummer Johan Nunez (NIGHTRAGE). The young Belgian is regarded by Gus as a “phenomenal talent,” and anyone that witnessed him on the band’s most recent world tour will no doubt agree.

The “Wall Of Sound” video can be seen below. The clip was filmed by Colin Marshall during the band’s recent shows in Greece.
Commented Gus: “We wanted to do a different video this time, instead of the usual indoor studio shootings. So we figured we’d show the band in its comfort zone — on stage. The clip was shot on our most recent shows in Greece this past January and you can witness the mayhem that goes down when we play in our home country! Enjoy!”
