SEVENDUST members Clint Lowery (guitar) and Morgan Rose (drums) have launched a brand new project called CALL ME NO ONE. They will begin recording their debut album before the end of the month for a late spring release. “[It’s] gonna be very exciting,” says Lowery.
In other news, SEVENDUST will begin writing a new album over the summer for an early 2013 release.
SEVENDUST‘s latest CD, “Cold Day Memory”, sold around 27,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 12 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The band’s previous effort, “Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow”, opened with 25,000 units back in April 2008 to land at position No. 19.
“Cold Day Memory” was released on April 20, 2010 on the band’s own 7Bros. Records, through Warner Music Group‘s Independent Label Group. The CD — produced by Grammy Award winner Johnny K (DISTURBED, STAIND, 3 DOORS DOWN, PLAIN WHITE T’S) — was the group’s first new album with its original lineup back together with guitarist Clint Lowery‘s return after his departure in 2003. Slipknot and Stone Sour guitarist Jim Root will be launching a signature amplifier at this year’s NAMM conference in Los Angeles on January 21. The Signature #4 Jim Root Terror Head is modelled after the dirty channel on the same amp that Root plays in the studio and on the road: the Orange Rockerverb 100. This all-tube, 15-watt amp features a full 3-band EQ, allowing players to dial in vintage rock, blues or anything else, as well as a tube-driven FX loop which will allow the user to take the tone in any direction they want.
The new Signature #4 Jim Root PPC212 cab has been developed alongside the head to provide Jim‘s full tone. The cab is finished in black vinyl with a specially developed black version of the Orange basket grill cloth and proudly features the signature #4 plate on the front. With a closed back design, the cab has a tight bottom end and delivers Jim‘s signature Orange tone.
Said Root of the name on the signature head, “With this amp, simply giving it the number I use in Slipknot seemed logical. I’ve not been to apt to splash either band logo or artwork all over things, but this will be the beginning of the end of that… maybe.” The rear of the amp features both the Slipknot and Stone Sour logos.
Specifications:
* Volume, Gain, Bass, Mid and Treble Controls
* 12AT7-Driven FX Loop
* 1 x 16 Ohm and 2 x 8 Ohm Outputs
* Switchable Between 15/7 Watts
Jim Root will be personally launching his signature #4 products on the Orange Booth #4890 Hall C at NAMM at 2 PM on Saturday, January 21.
Howard Jones has posted a message on Killswitch Engage‘s Facebook page explaining the reasons behind his departure from the group, announced earlier this week. The message reads as follows:
“Message From Howard: Well, I guess I will shed a little light without going too deep. As some of you may know, I’ve had a pretty interesting couple of years to say the least battling with some personal issues. One of the low points being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes that went unchecked for years. The rest of the band stuck with me through it, and to be honest they are the ones that kept me going. The whole experience definitely put a scare in me.
“Recently we’ve all been in writing mode but somehow I couldn’t get excited about the new album and all the touring that would go with it. The guys saw it before I did. In hindsight I now realize that my heart wasn’t in it. I have had an amazing decade with KSE. I love Justin, MikeD, Joel and Adam for hanging in there and standing by me no matter how bad it was. I have so many good memories, and those are the ones that I will keep. Will I be involved in music again? Sure, I have been in bands for a little over half my life, can’t stop now. Until then, get the new KSE album, it’s going to be good. Thanks everyone for letting me try to entertain you, and I wish myself well in my future endeavors. Gone fishin’ Howard“
Trond Nicolaisen, manager and co-songwriter of the Norwegian metal project TOMORROW’S OUTLOOK, has issued the following update:
“Late 2008/early 2009 we recorded ‘Red Sharks’ for an upcoming CRIMSON GLORY tribute album called ‘The Revenge Of Azrael’. We were asked to contribute with a track by metal maniac Lon Patello, a longtime friend of our singer Ski [Norman Kiersnowski] and also founder of the true/power metal label Metallic Arch Angel Records.
“‘The Revenge Of Azrael’ has been in the works for many years, but it will hopefully see the light of day sometime soon. Bands that are expected to appear on the CD include: CYCLOPHONIA (Norway), INNOSENSE (Greece), GRAVEN IMAGE (USA), ANARCHY X (Italy), ETERNAL WINTER (USA), FATES PROPHECY (Brazil) and HELD UNDER (USA).
“To create a buzz around the release, I asked our guitarist, Øystein K. Hanssen, if he could write a very special tribute song for [late CRIMSON GLORY singer] Midnight. Øystein loved the challenge and he took what he considered to be the essence of their albums ‘Crimson Glory’ and ‘Transcendence’ — the musical grandeur and utter lyrical madness — and created a brand new song in that spirit. He tried his very best NOT to rip off any previously existing material.
“‘Behind These Walls’ is a big production song featuring seven different singers, including Todd La Torre (CRIMSON GLORY). The other singers scheduled to appear on the track are Ida Haukland (TRIOSPHERE), Vasilis Georgiou (INNOSENSE, SUNBURST), Norman ‘Ski’ Kiersnowski (ex-DEADLY BLESSING, TOMORROW’S OUTLOOK), Mike Gorham (TOMORROW’S OUTLOOK), Kai-Joar Kristensen and Andreas Angell (CYCLOPHONIA).
“Drums for the song were laid down a few weeks ago in Trondheim Studio by Andreas Nergård. Guitars and bass will be recorded over the next few weeks in Murphy’s Cube Studio by Øystein K. Hanssen and Kristian K. Hanssen (CYCLOPHONIA). There will be uploaded some footage from the recording sessions at www.tomorrowsoutlook.com, so stay tuned!”
TOMORROW’S OUTLOOK‘s long-awaited debut album, “34613”, will arrive later this year. The CD features guest appearances by such world-class singers as Michael Kiske (HELLOWEEN) and Graham Bonnet (ALCATRAZZ, RAINBOW, MSG). Source: Blabbermouth.net
