THE MAN-EATING TREE — the atmospheric metal band featuring former SENTENCED drummer Vesa Ranta alongside current/former members of POISONBLACK, REFLEXION and EMBRAZE — has issued the following update:

“Unfortunately, we have to inform that Tuomas [Tuominen] does not continue any longer in our band as a vocalist. Various musical and also non-musical aspects led us to this conclusion.

“There is no bigger drama or so in our side and we don’t want to discuss further about the reasons behind the decision, so please don’t send us any questions concerning the issue.

“Quitting the band was not an option in any case and we will return with a new singer when the time is right. Now it is time to gather some energy and even if the new material has been already written and practiced, the new album is not coming out in the near future.

“We would like to thank Tuomas from unforgettable times and great work without forgetting the kilometers of joy and tears we shared together. We wish you all the best in your life!”

TUSKA OPEN AIR METAL Festival has issued the following:

Finland’s biggest metal festival, the fifteenth edition of the annual Tuska Open Metal Festival has announced more Artists.

Thrash metal fans are in for a treat on Friday June 29th, as legendary Bay Area Thrashers EXODUS and re-united Finnish thrash trailblazers A.R.G. have been added to the bill. Also appearing on Tuska Friday will be Norwegian Avantgarde-metal act ARCTURUS.

British grindcore pioneers NAPALM DEATH have been added to the line up for Saturday June 30th.

General confusion will be added by urban grinders RAMIN KUNTOPOLKU.

“Armed”, the new video from THE MAN-EATING TREE — the atmospheric metal band featuring former SENTENCED drummer Vesa Ranta alongside current/former members of POISONBLACK, REFLEXION and EMBRAZE — can be seen below. The clip was filmed by Mutant Koala Pictures, a production company based in the band’’s hometown of Oulu, Finland.

“Armed” comes off THE MAN-EATING TREE‘s sophomore album, “Harvest”, which will be released on November 28 via Century Media Records. The CD was once again helmed by producer Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, SENTENCED, AMORPHIS) and marks the recording debut of guitarist Antti Karhu.

Commented THE MAN-EATING TREE vocalist Tuomas Tuominen: “‘Armed’ was one of the first songs written for ‘Harvest’. In essence, it’s about how precious our time here is. How it sometimes feels as if hours and years could be seized into the wrong hands and pointed at you — as they were a weapon. A weapon that cannot be disarmed. Time is a weapon that will kill everyone. Mercilessly.”

THE MAN-EATING TREE will support AMORPHIS on a European tour which will kick off on December 26 in Jens, Germany. Also scheduled to appear on the bill is LEPROUS.
